Once the country estate and studio of famed painter and fly fishing enthusiast Ogden Pleissner, Boorn Brook Farm has been restored to its original splendor. Situated on 54 acres of open meadows and old apple orchards with stunning views, Boorn Brook Farm is protected by Lye Brook National Forest, yet within the town limits of Manchester Center.
The French inspired barn, built in 1820 has wide-plank floors, hand-hewn beams, soaring ceilings, stone fireplaces and New England charm. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a country vacation for a small family or a quiet retreat to nature, Boorn Brook Farm is the quintessential Vermont experience!
In the summer, swim in the spring-fed pond with a beach, play tennis on the private court, hike on the private trails or in the bordering Lye Brook Wilderness, fish in the brook, pick fresh veggies from the organic garden or simply relax in one of the hammocks. In the winter, skate on the pond, sled on the hill, snowshoe or cross country ski on the back trails, downhill ski or snowboard at nearby Stratton or Bromley Mountains. Return home to build a roaring fire in the stone fireplace, bake some bread in the stone bread oven, play a game of pool, sip some hot chocolate and then watch the sun set behind Equinox Mountain from the hot tub, right outside your master bedroom!
Children and adults alike will also enjoy our farm pets, Lola the Brown Swiss Cow, Willie and Skippy the miniature goats, and Ender the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.

I can not say enough about how WONDERFUL our stay was at this property! We had an amazing time and the best Christmas ever! The owners (Jeff and Shelly) made us feel like we were visiting long lost friends. Gayle (the caretaker) was more than helpful during our stay. We loved staying in the barn......it was beautiful! The cow and goats along with all of the snow that we had made for a "Norman Rockwell" style vacation. The house was clean, the kitchen had everything you would need and the fireplace was perfect! There is nothing else we could have asked for! We did however want to take "Ender" the HUGH Swiss Mountain Dog home with us but he didn't fit in our suv :) We cannot wait to return to the farm! Thanks again Jeff and Shelly for a perfect holiday!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

The Farm is a beautiful property. The Barn is fabulous! Very comfortable. The kitchen is extremely well outfitted. Very convenient to hiking, golfing, Manchester Center. Or, you may just want to hang out. It's best suited for one couple or a family. Second bedroom is a loft with single beds, so not really suited for a second couple unless they don't mind small quarters. I can highly recommend this property and hope to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

This was one of the best vacations we have had in recent memory. The views were incredible and the farm offered pleasant walks in the pastures or hiking paths to the brook and mountains. The barn was spacious and fully equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, the DR/LR was huge and perfect for a small romantic dinner or a larger family gathering. There was a game room with a pool table. The hot tub made for a wonderful night under the stars. Our dog welcomed all of the open space and hiking. He enjoyed visiting Lola (the cow), Skippy & Willie (the goats), and especially his fellow canine, Enders. The owners and caretaker were extremely friendly and ensured that we were having a great time. All in all, an excellent place to stay and we hope to be back soon.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, age 55+.

Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: We own the local movie theatre, so your movies are free when you stay with us!
Why the Owner Chose Manchester Center:
Because once you get here, you won't want to leave! We wrote down our fantasy list of features we wanted in a property and were stunned to find it all! We wanted a white house with a porch, a red barn, mountain views, meadows, a pond, a brook, sledding hill, stone walls, hiking trails, close to skiing...and all of it in town! Living here is like living in a postcard!
The Unique Benefits at this Barn:
Boorn Brook Farm is very secluded, yet right in Manchester. We cater to couples and small families. No large groups - don't even ask! We strive to provide a relaxing, peaceful and homey retreat for all of our guests!
