Location, Location, Location...This remodeled quiet residential air-conditioned condo is just one mile south of quaint "Kona village." Imagine yourself sitting by the pool watching spinning dolphins, para-sailers, and cruise ships, all from our wonderful pool right on the ocean and only steps from our private condo! Close to village, restaurants, luaus and other activities.
Just a 12 to 15 minute walk or rent a car and drive 2 minutes to our wonderful Kailua-Kona village. Many condos are up to five miles away from the Village, but we are one of the closer complexes to all the Village Activities!
Very private, large wrap-around Lanai (porch).
We are a private end of building condo that faces the ocean... We have one neighbor above and one behind... no one on either side or below us. This beautifully decorated condo is private and has one of the largest Lanais (porches) you will find. Furnishings included a CD player, DVD player & three TV's and VCR’s with a selection of 40 movies!!
Great for people who have children or just want to watch movies & TV in bed at night. We have ceiling fans in every room and a queen sleeper sofa. The Kitchen has beautiful dishes and many appliances to help you make any meal. We try to stock many spices, some cooking basics and condiments. We love our home away from home, and hope you will too!

My wife and I rented this unit realizing it’s a family location and many units are rented/owned by locals. We enjoyed getting to know some of the locals and guests around the BBQ in the evening or down at the pool. The unit is very bright and clean. We had the odd ant but only when I left the Macnut Honey out instead of putting it in the fridge. When dealing with anything sweet, you have to remember you are in the tropics. We found the unit well supplied and its location is as good as it gets in this complex….a great view of the ocean through the palm trees. We watched the sunsets from the lanai or pool area every evening. All in all you get good value for your dollar here and we would recommend this unit to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday in a unit within easy walking distance of downtown Kailua. We will be renting this unit again in 2013. Positives: ~ kitchen stocked with everything you need re dishes, glasses, mugs, utensils, pots and pans, plastic containers, etc. ~ snorkel equipment, beach mats, boogie boards, crib, beach tent, booster seat for child to sit at the table, etc. ~ large master bedroom (we let our daughter and her husband have the master bedroom as they also had the crib in the room with them) ~ wrap-around lanai ~ two deck doors – great for making the condo bright and for allowing air to flow through (didn’t have to use the air-conditioner) ~ parking spot is close ~ always quiet by 10 pm or earlier ~ beautiful pool area – great for watching sunsets, whales, dolphins ~ geckos and birds visit you on the lanai ~ walking distance to little beaches, restaurants, shops, etc. ~ washer and dryer in the condo ~ Andrea is great at getting back to you right away when you send her an Email ~ TVs in the living room and the two bedrooms Negatives: ~ wooden building – not sound proof ~ hear the permanent residents going to work and school ~ no phone in condo (we had our laptop and used Skype to make phone calls) ~ only room enough to walk around the bed in the second bedroom ~ only one set of keys (two or three sets would be best for when everyone goes out and comes back at different times) Bottom line we will rent here again and would recomend this unit to anyone who can get up 1 flight of stairs or wheel chair access from far end of building

The listing description was accurate, but NOT complete! The photos were accurate, but again, did not give the whole picture. Let me start by stating the location of the property was pretty good. There is a pool located right on the lava bed, with awesome views of the ocean. This was definitely the focal point of our stay! When we arrived, our walk on the outside walkway met us with dirty, filthy carpets. Inside our unit, (which was well situated), it appeared clean. On close inspection we found the kitchen cupboards felt sticky, and grimy. We also noticed lots (and lots!) of tiny ants..everywhere! This problem was resolved with the owner. After 9 days, the ant problem was gone. However, we did not put any food of any kind on the kitchen counters, for fear of the ants returning. As a result, we had no room in the already small refrigerator! The shower stall was very small, and looked dirty (we emailed the owner and suggested a "deep cleaning" was needed). The dishwasher did not work. We had to be available for the repairman to come and fix it. After three visits (needed parts etc), it was fixed. In the end, we felt the small dishwasher did not rinse the dishes very well, as we could feel the soap residue on everything. So, we basically had to wash by hand. The blue towels were terrible, sour smelling, old, hard complete with bleach spots. We didn't know what to use the hand towels for...I would only use them to wash the car, certainly not for personal use! White bath towels were fine. We washed the linen (we stayed for 4 weeks) using the in-suite laundry. No problems there. However, when we took off the pillow cases, we found, to our extreme dislike, the pillows were very badly stained, and looked almost dark yellow in colour. Disgusting! We went to a store, and actually bought new pillows for ourselves, as we could not bear to sleep on the provided pillows! The linen was pilled, and not very comfortable, (we even bought new bed sheets!) There was NO oven (we didn't realise there would not be one), which was a shame. No phone (we understood that). Very little sound insulation. We could hear every step made by the gentleman above us, and could even hear him peeing! We had one neighbour beside us, and could hear through the walls. This is a residential complex, not a resort. As a result, you hear little children early in the morning. The owner would NOT respond to us, within 5 days of our departure! We would not recomment this unit...

Owner response: Wow! It is hard to respond to such a brutal review. First let me say we have owned this condo for 11 years. It has been our "Little Piece of Paradise" and a vacation rental for all eleven years and this is our fist sad review. We read through the 5 e-mails we received from these guests during their one month stay (mostly about some ants the guest had found and the Terminix appointment), all our replies, and to be fair we had Terminix out to address the issue in 24 hours after contact. We also had Sears out within 48 hours regarding the dishwasher. The e-mail we received from this guest said the bath was clean and the kitchen looked to have a little sugar on the counter, but that was the extent of the cleaning issues, until three weeks into their stay, then everything changed. We received an e-mail about seven days prior to their departure that they wanted the condo to have a deep cleaning, and the cleaners would only be allowed to enter the condo on the coming Sunday or President's day. Unfortunately our cleaners could not do a full day deep clean on such short notice and on an overly busy holiday weekend (just 3-4 days prior to their departure). We have many return guests who love our island condo. We are clear on our VRBO page that this is a residential condo complex and have never implied we own in a high end resort, and our affordable prices reflect the same. We have responded to every contact this guest has made and at this point the guest has not contacted us after departure. We spoke with our on-island agent who was told by this guest that they had came from a high-end resort on another island prior to coming to our condo. Clearly a residential condo was not up to their standards. Even our condo with new bamboo floors and glass doors didn't make the grade. We are sorry for their displeasure with their stay; we want every guest to have a great time in paradise. Note: We do have a convection oven/microwave (we bake in), four burner gas stove top, and new sheets as well as kitchen towels purchased in 2/2012.
