We arrived when spring was in full bloom, and enjoyed some warm sunny days at this lovely home right on Seneca Lake. Needed a place to stay in order to visit my dad in the hospital. The owners were very flexible and accommodating. They welcomed us graciously! They made a special effort to hook up cable TV and internet service before we arrived. They made every effort to ensure our comfort while staying at their lake house. We feel very fortunate to have found this perfect rental.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our week-long stay at the Taste of Serenity was absolutely fabulous... The cozy environment of the cottage, the front lawn, back yard with the grill and the table in the shade, little private beach with the fire pit, kayaks, canoe and paddle boat for every day use, refreshing swim in the lake - everything was 100%!!! Kathy and Mike, Thanks for the great hospitality, including little notes throughout the cottage :) and thanks for letting Missy visit us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our hosts left us a bottle of fingerlakes wine and a bouquet of flowers which we quaffed the first night- a nice welcome touch. What we found The thing that attracted our family were the boats; 3 kayaks; canoe; paddleboat; etc. all in good condition and our family had a blast using them. Our stay with my wife and 2 elementary age boys. we decided that we are missing out on watersports locally. The weather was great- the head moderated- the Lake Im told was unseasonably warm. I swam across it the first day there. >>I would recommend this cottage highly to others- it was everything advertised and more -cottage was immaculate, attractive, and very well maintained. -cottage had been recently updated; new flooring; new counter-tops; newly updated bathroom -pots pans etc for cooking at home all available -convenient location to Geneva - cottage had been modernized and was very attractive; nice bedrooms; modern kitchen and best of all large washer and dryer under the kitchen counter tops meant our kids had clean clothes all week -dock was very modern wide metal aluminum- quite solid. Water is shallow at end of dock and on shallower side in immediate area- safe for smaller children; swim out if you want deeper water :) -the boats were in great shape- and all necessary stuff to use (oars life jackets) were there. Although our host was away when we were there their friends dropped by to make sure everything was as planned. My only suggestion for improvement was that the rowboat had out of date registration (2009); I was worried about getting picked up while fishing for same.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Tom for the great review. Our goal is to have our renters enjoy to the fullest their vacation on Seneca Lake. We get so much pleasure seeing people out exploring the lake and having fun in the boats we provide. Thanks for noticing the registration on the row boat, it is only required for using a motor, although some people do bring a small motor with them so I will get the new stickers on it. Thanks again! Mike & Kathy

After 20 years of vacationing at the shore, we decided to try a lake vacation. We were so glad to find Taste of Serenity! The house was very neat, clean, and well equipped, and the location was perfect for sightseeing in the Finger Lakes region. The neighborhood was very quiet at night. We had such fun in the tandem kayak, we're so happy we didn't have to leave the house to rent one. The sunsets were gorgeous and we spent several evenings sitting on the dock watching night fall. We have already recommended this house to several friends. Thank you Mike and Kathy, and Missy, for helping us have a wonderful, relaxing lake vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had such a wonderful time during our stay at your lovely lake house. It was one of our most relaxing vacations ever. the house had absolutely everything we needed and was so immaculate and comfortable. We visited a few of the local wineries, hiked Watkins Glen and took in the scenery of the surrounding towns around the lake, but mostly enjoyed just relaxing at ( taste of serenity ). Thank you so much for your hospitality, we hope to come back and visit again and would certainly recommend Taste of Serenity to our family and friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Deb! So glad you were able to relax and we were able to share the "Serenity" we experience everyday here on Seneca Lake!!! The Finger Lakes certainly has many beautiful sites and great resturants & wineries to see!!! We would enjoy having you back anytime! Have a Great Summer! Kathy & Mike... and Missy :)

We spent a week at Taste of Serenity and hated to leave. The cottage is so clean and charming and well equipped. If we weren't sitting outdoors on the adirondack chairs enjoying the lake while sipping local wines, we were on the back porch admiring the view or eating or reading or playing games. The location is just perfect, you have easy access to the wineries, to the lake, and to the villages. At the bottom of the steps leading to the dock Kathy and Mike provided a canoe, kayak, paddleboat, chairs, and a fire pit. We sat on the dock with our feet in the water but passed on the boats. Instead, we visited Seneca Falls, Geneva, Canadaigua, Penn Yan, Trumansburg, Hammondsport and found wonderful places to eat in each of them. Having grown up in Philadelphia, we had to try downtown Geneva's Mac's Philly Cheese Steak. It was served on an "Amorosa" roll, imported daily from Philly. It was just like Jim's in South Philly. Uncle Joe's also in Geneva was a great place where we met some great people, including a childhood neighbor of Jim Bayheim. And I would have to say the best wines were the ones tasted right down the road at Zugibe's. We are already talking about coming back to Taste of Serenity in the fall of 2013 when we will all be retired. ...Len and Joan, Latham, NYRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice compliments Joan!! It was a pleasure meeting you and your family! Mike & I are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay! Zugibe's is a Great Winery & one of our Favorites!! So glad you enjoyed their wine as we do!!!! There is definitely more to see and do in the Finger Lakes, we hope you will come back in the future! We enjoy sharing our little "Taste of Serenity", especially with nice people like you!! You are Welcomed Back Anytime!!!! Enjoy your summer! Kathy & Mike

My family enjoyed a relaxing and restorative week at this property. We used the kayak, rowboat, canoe and paddleboat. The sunsets were breathtaking. The property was clean and well maintained and we found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and worry free. The home is close to the Wegmans in the City of Geneva which made food shopping a pleasure. When we could bring ourselves to leave the dock, we visited wineries on the east side of the lake and did a cheese tasting at the Cowlick creamery near Lodi on Rte 414. We would especially recommend Damiani Wine cellars in Hector. The pourers were very personable and the wines were excellent. We ate a delicious dinner one evening at Port's Grille on the west side of the lake. The owners of the cottage own two delightful golden labs who became our companions for the week. We have already recommended this cottage to a number of our friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We enjoyed "Taste of Serenity" for four peaceful days and nights in June 2010. We have stayed in a variety of other private rental homes before but none with this amazing level of hospitality! In addition, the cottage had everything we needed and more, it was very clean and attractively furnished and the kayak and paddle boat provided for some incredible sunset pictures. The location was perfect for us. Thank-you Kathy and Mike for a wonderful vacation and for being such welcoming people. Warm Regards, Brian, Barb and KelseyDid you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: I am a stay at home grandmother who loves to shop and decorate. Mike is a technician at Verizon telephone in Geneva. We love to spend time with family on the lake or go for a ride on our motorcycle through the country side. We were both raised in this area and could not think of a better place to live and raise our two girls.
Why the Owner Chose Geneva:
We have lived on the lake for twenty eight years. When this home, five houses from ours went up for sale, we decided to buy it to rent out as a vacation home. We wanted to allow others to enjoy the lake as we have for a reasonable price. We have added toys every year to enjoy the water, we have added two kayaks this January. We have truly enjoyed meeting some wonderful new friends who are now regulars. Our goal is for you to have a great vacation and enjoy Seneca Lake. Our feed back from the last five years has been all positive as you can see from our reviews from past renters. Come enjoy a Taste Of Serenity on Seneca Lake
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Taste of Serenity is a great peaceful place in a older residential neighborhood. Located one mile off the main road means no traffic noise. The east side of the lake is the perfect side as the sun rises in the back yard and sets over the lake. The west wind over the lake most often provides a cooling breeze on those so hot summer days.
