Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1978
We live here on Cape Cod where John is a year-round Ferry-boat Captain and Carol also works part-time at the boat line. We had hoped to be retired by now, but we still enjoy working. Boating/cruising is our great love aboard our Jefferson Trawler. The cat, Dory, likes it too, as well as long drives to Maine or any window with a good view. Brief escapes to Maine in winter always include skiing and snowmobiling, but we wish our kids and grandkids could come up more often.
Why the Owner Chose Rangeley
In 1970, we took a mid-week ski vacation in Maine, touted in a Boston paper as having incredible potential. "As the ski industry expands, the state will protect its environment much more than Vermont ever did". We deliberatly chose a place we had never heard of, Saddleback Mountain, and the love affair with the region began; a friendlier, more beautiful place didn't exist. Our Cape Cod liveliood did not allow for summer vacations, so when we built, we decided to rent the house in summer and use it when possible in winter. Three generations have made memories here.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Since we don't use it in summer, our own experiences are limited to fall and winter. Spectacular fall foliage has long been a draw to the region. Drives along Route 17 or 4 have been deemed "National Scenic Byways". We love that moose stroll by; that there are no chain stores, fast food, strip malls or stop lights in Rangeley. But good restaurants abound, wonderful festivals and performing arts events year-round. An emphasis on "the great outdoors", much of which is carefully protected, should be part of your plan when you come to our house.

Relaxing Winter Weekend

We spent a relaxing weekend at Lynch Lodge with our dog, Quinn. It was very convenient to Saddleback Mountain for snowboarding on the first day we were there. When the weather did not totally cooperate for snowboarding for the rest of the weekend, we took advantage of the extensive board game and movie collection while the woodburning stove kept us toasty and warm. Our dog, Quinn loved romping around in the snow in the backyard. We would definitely return for another trip to Lynch Lodge, maybe even in the summer!
Owner response:This young couple didn't mind the 15 minute drive to Saddleback. Our cozy place may not have cell phone reception, but old fashioned games & movies provide real relaxation by the fire. Usually about half the price of trailside accomodations!! Depends on what you're looking for.....Thanks, Arwen!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children.

We are repeat customers at Lynch Lodge. My husband and I along with our 2 children (7 & 11 years old) stayed for a week in February 09 to ski and snowmobile. Saddleback Mountain is an absolutley beautiful and newly updated family mountain. The snowmobile trails connected to major trail systems right up the street. The location could not have been more convenient to meet our winter sport needs. We found the cozy 3 BR home lovely and very well maintained. We enjoyed many family evenings in front of the wood burning stove. We fell in love with the quaint town of Rangeley and returned again this summer. The kids LOVED Smalls Falls- swimming and jumping into the waterfall pools (we went 2x). We hiked a few local trails, swam at Rangelely Lake (which had a life guard), canoed (provided by the Lynches) across the street and ate at several local restaurants. I can't say enough about the accomodations and the great family vacations we have enjoyed. We would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Lynches family home. We love it there and can't wait to go back again soon!!

We had a wonderful time at Lynch Lodge. It was a honeymoon trip to remember. The cabin was perfect! It was clean and felt very secluded. We enjoyed cooking our own meals and grilling. The lake was beautiful and easily enjoyed with the canoe provided, we didn't see any moose around the cabin but the friendly folks nearby directed us to where we had the best possiblity to spot one. We got to see a young bull. We would definitly recommend this area and this cabin to others.
