Farm Le Capanne di Sopra is located 1.4 kilometers from the medieval village of Montefollonico and is situated to provide panoramic views of the Montepulciano valley.
The property includes two stone farmhouses, each sleeping six, that are surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and woods. A Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG wine and extra virgin olive oil are produced here. Both houses have been restored in accordance with Tuscan traditions and carefully furnished to offer a genuine and cozy atmosphere.
To preserve the rural character of the site the owners chose not to build a swimming pool. However, there are several pools and thermal spas nearby. Both houses and gardens enjoy a marvellous view of the valley with the skyline of Montepulciano to the south, Mount Amiata to the west, and the hill of Montefollonico to the north.
Montefollonico itself provides everything you will need day to day with food shops, post office, bank, pharmacy, restaurants, and bar. Also, check out a number of good local markets at Montepulciano, Sinalunga, Montefollonico and more.
A private drive links the house to the main road ensuring that you will be holidaying in the quiet and undisturbed Tuscan countryside. Le Capanne can be reached in just 30 minutes by auto from the Valdichiana exit of the Rome-Florence Highway.
Historical and cultural sites nearby include Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Cortona, Chiusi, Monte San Savino, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia and Lake Trasimeno which are all within 75 minutes drive. The thermal spas and bathing at Chianciano, Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Filippo and Rapolano are no more than half an hour's drive away. There are three swimming pools within 10 kilometers and tennis courts, horseback riding and mountain biking are nearby.
Farmhouse Mulinello sleeps six in 972 square feet. Restored in 1990, it is the culmination of successive works on the original tower dating back to 17th century. Tucked into the hillside with perfect views across to Montepulciano, the house is set on two levels. Ground floor: a lounge with fireplace forms the centre of the house. Three bedrooms with one double and two twins, and one bathroom with bath tub are available in this house. One twin bedroom has an en-suite, small bathroom with shower.
The upper floor has a large kitchen and dining room with a fireplace for barbecues. Access to the kitchen is through a terrace furnished with iron chairs and table. Another terrace, shaded by a pair of old oaks, looks over the valley. The house has period furniture from the owner's family throughout.
Farmhouse Banditello sleeps six in 1405 square feet. Restored in 1999, it enjoys a splendid view towards the south and west. The ground floor has three entrances with French windows to the garden. The large kitchen is fully equipped with oven, fridge, fireplace-barbecue and washing machine, and storeroom. The kitchen leads into a two-room lounge with a Tuscan fireplace at one end. The lounge is furnished with antique pieces and has many sofas and armchairs.
Stone steps take you to the first floor which has a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom that includes a tub, and offers a splendid view of the Montepulciano valley. A second bedroom with twin bedrooms share a bathroom with shower.
Wrought iron beds, old rustic furniture, small wooden toilet mirrors, doors and fitted wardrobes have been chosen according to the Tuscan country tradition. All the bed frames and mattresses are orthopedic, and guests will find the house to be airy and bright all day long.

We stayed in the house Banditello the first 2 weeks of September 2011 and highly rcommend it; the house is well equipped and located in an idyllic spot very private and with spectacular views across to Montepulciano. The local village Montefellonico has bank, supermarket and excellent restaurants to suit all pockets; we particularly recommend 13 Gobbi. Michele is a kind helpful considerate landlord; he left us one morning a wonderful bowl of fresh green figs for breakfast. If we visit that part of Tuscany again we certainly will want to stay in Banditello and will recommend it to others.
Owner response:Thank you David, come again. Michele.

One month later, we are still talking about our wonderful stay at Le Capanne Di Sopra, and in fact look forward to visiting again. The setting is lovely; overlooking the hills and Montepulciano and close to Montefollonico where we found everything that we needed including delicious restaurants, coffee and convenient groceries. The house was clean and well furnished and we enjoyed cooking many of our meals in the well equipped kitchen and eating in one of the two outdoor dining areas. The owner and housekeeper were friendly and helpful and we felt at home the entire time. We also found a lovely restaurant in nearby Petroio (Palazzo Brandano) which we highly recommend for delicious food and gracious atmosphere!
Owner response:we are very happy of such good memories of us. Grazie, come again. Cristina and Michele Ferrara.

We rented this house in the heart of Tuscany for 4 nights in May, 2009. We had five adults staying at the house. What a treasure to find! This house is immaculate and beautiful. The views from the house are stunning. I must admit that the driveway is a little tretcherous, but it isn't anything that can't be handled. We had a lot of fun seeking out and visiting the nearby cities as well as heading off the beaten path and discovering some cities we didn't know about. During our stay they were filming the Twilight movie in Montepulciano! The house itself is beautiful - I wish I could take the home back to the US with me to live in. The accomodations were more than suitable and comfortable and anything we needed was available to us. We can't wait to come back and visit and we will definitely stay here again. We've already recommended the house to several people planning to vacation in Italy. Thanks!!!

We stayed in Mulinello farmhouse for one week in May of 2007 and it was the highlight of our month long trip. This is a very special place, very quiet and secluded...only the sounds of nature. Every view out of every window of this house is stunning but most especially the unobstructed heavenly view of Montepulciano and San Biagio with typical Tuscan landscape in between. Perfect location for day trips to visit many other Italian hilltowns. We loved visiting the surrounding villages each day but were always looking forward to going back to our home away from home each evening.
