Fantastic experience, and extremely relaxing. The cabin was clean, cozy, and well maintained. The hot tub was crystal clean upon our arrival which made my bride extremely happy. The shower had plenty of room in it, and is quite relaxing itself. Cold front came in on Monday, so we shut off the A/C unit and simply used the fireplace to heat the cabin, and it worked out perfectly. All of the appliances in the cabin work great, and are clean. We cooked in the kitchen or grilled on the patio everyday. I sat in the hot tub one morning during sunrise, drank a cup of coffee, and watched the deer wander around the property. We went into town for a couple hours to do some touristy stuff, and when we got back our firewood had been replenished. Very secluded, and quiet. Love this place! We will most definitely be returning within the next year. Thank you for a wonderful honeymoon, and your courteous hospitality.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Eric, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Congratulations on your marriage and best wishes. We look forward to hosting you on your first anniversary. Justin The Homestead Cottages

Wendy and I drove from NY to TX to surprise my best-friend for my birthday and staying at the cabin was just the ticket after that drive. Quiet and secluded but not out in the 'boonies', all your shopping needs including a laundromat are 5 minutes away. The cabin was comfy and just right for the 2 of us and had everything we needed. The owner, Justin, is great...met us the first night and we didn't see him again til 2 weeks later at check-out. Very unobtrusive. If you stay here, have fun and play the Bingo. I think we only left a few boxes unchecked. The location was awesome too.....1/2 hour to any of the places we wanted to go to. Plus the lake/river is right there....highly recommend tubing and we rented a boat one day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Looking for a place to escape with my wife to celebrate a 15th year anniversary. Wanted something within hours of our home in Austin. With much searching I found what looked to be a quaint cabin. I like that it had a hot tub and outdoor shower. Was lucky to get the booking because of a cancelation. Really wanted privacy. That is what we got. The cedar log cabin was built to be authentic to the region. The back of the cabin was facing woods. The large covered back patio had the hot tub. The interior was rustic yet had everything you need. The bed was great. Well appointed. The bathroom highlight was the round outdoor shower, stone floor with a glass ceiling letting in natural sunlight. Very unique. Cool experience. I was surprised at how great the cabin was. Nice size for two. High quality time for this couple. Would definitely go back. *Review taken from Tripadvisor*Did you find this review helpful? Guest Comment Entered By Homeowner: Jun 12, 2008 **Comment taken from Tripadvisor** My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with the peace and quiet we had staying at Camp David. The wildlife was wonderful to see and nights on the porch, enjoying the hot tub, under the stars , were something out of a fairy tale. The cabin itself is an amazing, hand built work of art. We were not bothered by anyone but yet very close, by drive, to all the places we wanted to go. When making our reservation we could not have been more impressed by the friendly, helpful service we received. This place is truly a wonderful get away. We recommend this place to those who want to have time alone, and some peace and quiet, in a natural setting. So much fun! Thanks for the memories. Andrew & TaminaDid you find this review helpful? Jul 23, 2008 **Comment taken from Tripadvisor** Wonderul cabin retreat, beautiful setting to relax in the hot tub or sit on the deck and watch the wildlife. You can feed the deer, raccoons and squirrels. Away from it all but still close enough to enjoy New Braunsfels and Gruene. A great place to stay..we can't wait to go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Jun 16, 2008 **Comment taken from Tripadvisor** This little piece of 19th Century Texas, otherwise now known to us as our little piece of Heaven, surpassed our greatest expectations. On a previous vacation to Lake Tahoe, we were very disappointed to find out the website photo was several years old, and once we arrived, found out our "log cabin" was a converted mobile home located across the street from the airport. Needless to say, my husband and I were somewhat nervous about booking another online "log cabin." However, this truly is a "log cabin." Built lovingly from the ground up using 19th workmanship and tools, everything about it - the design, craftmanship, decor, location - was perfect. It was extremely clean, well stocked with food staples, a gorgeous river rock shower located on the outside of the cabin (you'd have to see it to believe it) and the innkeepers were wonderful and caring; seeing to our every need, as well as answering answered questions immediately. Further, a notebook was left inside with all sorts of area things to and see, maps, guides, etc. The bookcases were lined with interesting reading materials, and lots of table games, too. (Did I mention the relaxing hot tub on the back deck?) The journal left by other customers said exactly what we felt - quiet, peaceful, a wonderful romantic getaway - gorgeous scenery, precious deer coming to be fed. We cannot wait to spend more time there. It's affordably priced and just one of the several rooms the Innkeeper has. Check it out - you'll be glad you did!Did you find this review helpful?
