Our stay in this property was wonderful. It is a very pretty beach house, spanish style, with lots of light, very confortable, clean, well-mantaines, beautiful view, with a little pool that was great for cooling down during this hot season. In addition to the big pool that serves all the houses. The food was delicious, The cleaning lady, very kind and a wonderful cook; she was always in a happy, helpful attitude. The owner was very very friendly and kind ever from the first e mail we wrote to her. And she answered always immediately to our e mails. I would surely recomend this house to my friends and relatives.

Never fails to be a great trip
Never fails to be a great trip
This is our 4 th trip to Villa Sonrisa over the last few years. It is always a fantastic trip. The house is great , the gardens and grounds are beautifully. What makes this spot so special is privacy and views of the River to the east and ocean to the south and west . The beach is beautiful and secluded and the surf is great and again no crowds. And the icing on the cake is Lizette the cook and house keeper. She is great and the food is killer .I go to relax and enjoy the water and it never fails .Shannon is a pleasure to work with and always helpful .

Property Description a lie. Negligent/unreachable owner, bug infestations, non-working toilets, etc We were told there were staff 24/7, but not a single person came to the place the entire time we were there... not even to give us keys. The place is entirely unattended, unlocked, and there was no way for us to lock or secure our stuff. The town is not tourist friendly (and there is no where to get food at night) so you must bring your own (that was never mentioned to us) The house itself had one working toilet (out of four). It does not have internet, tv, dvd, or music player (as described on VRBO). The tv and dvd are there but don't work. It is also completely infested with termites and red ants. The doors and windows all have a 1"-2" gap around them so mosquitos, beetles, and moths were flocking in as well. There wasn't a tile in the place that didn't have bugs on it. The furniture was covered too so there wasn't a place to sit or stand without bugs on you. The wall sconces were full of dead bugs to the point that the entire living room smelled of burning bugs. There were also egg sacks all over the walls/furniture. The plunge pool was also a scummy grey color and swarming with mosquitos. It didn't look like it had ever been cleaned. Since there was no internet (not even a modem or router on the premises) we could not find another place to stay in the middle of no where. The owner did not provide a phone number, or anyone to reach locally. I had to turn on international roaming on my phone to send her an email (and incurred $150 in charges). She wouldn't respond. We were stranded, terrified, miserable, hungry, and getting eaten alive. Even with bug spray, there is no way to keep the mosquitos out as the house isn't secure. I sent the owner 5 emails that night and none were responded to. She finally wrote back the next day and after some back and forth agreed to refund us; never once apologizing though. However, two days later, the situation got much worse. She sent an email accusing us of stealing a surf board and said she was filing a police report on us. The next one accused us of stealing sheets. She continues to harass me with emails, each time accusing us of something new. The funny thing is, the things she accused us of stealing weren't even there. The place was disgusting, no one would want that stuff anyway. We also travel with our own boards. The harassing, insulting, delusional emails are still coming. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Owner response: After opening our home to guests for over 10 years, renting via vrbo, we have come across our first dishonest renter. They arrived late in the night, after my manager had retired for the night, and they left before daybreak. With them they took far too many items to mention from our home. All I can ask is that a lesson was learned from this. We have had many happy guests, and I will now be more proactive in asking them to send reviews directly to the site, rather than sending my a thanks with the nice comments. Thanks, Shannon

Another wonderful return trip!
Dear Shannon, Happy new year! We wanted to thank you for letting us stay in your house again - what a lovely place you have! We had so much fun we are considering coming again for Christmas 2013. Lizeth made some great meals for us (as did Angie), so we were spoiled a bit too. Jon and Lisa

We hope to return real soon!
Yes- we loved our adventure at Villa Sonrisa and definitely hope that we can come back soon. Today the kids found about a dozen hermit crabs on the beach and were having crab races. Unfortunately we didn't see any iguanas, but we got to know a few of the little geckos and their 'chirping'. We really enjoyed meeting the neighbours and getting to know Punta El Custudio. What a neat community! Thanks again for sharing your little paradise with us. Our friends came up from NV to see the place yesterday and may see if they can book your place sometime too. - Mike

A Magical experience and a Vitamine D boost
Hi Shannon, Thanks so much for checking in! We just got back to Seattle and had an absolutely marvelous and magical time in Mexico. Your home is really lovely. I must say, I really missed not waking up "outside". We had a couple of days of not so great weather, but the few days of sunshine we had really did the trick. I think my Vitamin D levels are nearly replenished for the time being. Lizbeth was fantastic and really took care of us, above and beyond. Boy do I wish we had our own Lizbeth here in Seattle! The food was really great. There was a bit of confusion initially as to whether or not we had the meal plan, but we got that settled very quickly and it all worked out perfectly fine. Thanks for the magical experience

What a lovely place, we are pinching ourselves!
Hi Shannon, Oh My what a lovely place you have! We keep pinching ourselves! Golly what a piece of paradise and Lizeth is so sweet - she checked in on us on Sunday and brought her two little girls. She was hoping my girls were young - she was surprised to discover they were 16 and 19. The grounds are exquisite and the tree on the point is a tree that inspires awe! Your directions were easy to follow and we rolled in hereabout an hour after sunset with no problems. Louis was waiting for us at the gate! We have found everything in the house amazing and in great working order. Just for you info - (and not complaining as we had the colorado couple on Tortuga beach offer some up) but all but one of your boogie boards is cracked. You have one bigger nicer boogie board in working condition. There seems to be about 5 little kids boogie boards in the garage but all are cracked. I am sure they are all left over from renters and their kids and you have one out of your two boogie boards still working. Megan and I still had fun in the surf. Internet is spotty so I a not sure when you will actually get this - but resend the pay pal link so we can pay the balance. I will fill you in on all our adventures. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise, Marcy, John, Megan and Erin

Perfect location for a holiday with our two grown children who surf. There are no distractions to reading swimming walking eating . No tourists. Peaceful. Heavenly. Do bring Deet for no-see-ums. The owner was most helpful.

About the owner: My family and I travel all over the world. When our bags are unpacked this is where we choose. Truly an enchanting place. This is the place to be if you are looking for a fantastic place to enjoy Mexico.
Why the Owner Chose Sayulita:
We chose just North of Sayulita for the Enchanting Location and the wonderful, friendly people, and surfing, surfing surfing! It really does not get any better than this! Our kids prefer being in Mexico, and the villa over anywhere else. When you are enjoying a stay in Villa Sonrisa, you will feel completely welcome and right at home. A very private, upscale yet back to nature adventure. We searched high and low and when we found this place we fell in love!
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
We surf daily in uncrowded, consitent waves. Our kids love the local school and the food is just too yummy! Turtle season is enchanting, this place is like living the discovery channel!
