We researched extensively before choosing this beach house for our one month stay on Sanibel Island for July 2012. We had high hopes and were not disappointed. The home is open, spacious, clean and was perfect for our family with kids and a dog. We rode our bikes or walked to the beach daily and enjoyed the private beach. Many days, there were very few people any where on "our" beach. It was never crowded and so beautiful! We enjoyed relaxing on the lanai while the kids played in the pool. The Sanibel River was full of wildlife and beautiful during the sunset. The kitchen was perfect for cooking for the family and the great room allowed everyone to relax in a spacious area. The owner was attentive and very kind. Bedrooms were large, bathrooms were clean. The entire house was very private with large palm trees in front and the Sanibel River in back. We rode our bikes all over the island, with access to the bike path just a few houses down the street. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to fully enjoy Sanibel Island. Thanks to the owner for a wonderful month of lifelong memories!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners.

About the owner: Sanibel is a uniquely wonderful place. Having discovered it when our children were young, we always kept it in mind as a 'warm weather' home location. After looking up and down the coast from SC to FL we decided that, indeed, Sanibel is the very best place in the US for a beach home. The climate is very much like the Carribean and the flora, fauna and wildlife are very similar to Hawaii. Since I continue to teach in Georgetown (DC), we have offered our home for rental.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our private beach access is only three tenths of a mile away. Our screened pool and large enclosed deck face the Sanibel River, with a constantly beautiful view of wildlife and sunsets. The front porch is a lovely place to watch the sunrise!
