Location: Boone, Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA (Boone, Blowing Rock and Wilkesboro within 15-20 minutes!) View Map
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Enjoy the beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Deep Gap, NC. Our cabin is just off the Blue Ridge Parkway just before Hwy 421 passes under the the Blue Ridge (mile marker 277) at an altitude of 3403 near Stoney Fork Overview.
We are perched at the Eastern Continental Divide looking southwest. Enjoy a short ride among majestic trees and mountain views before climbing Turkey Hill. A gentle climb that arrives at a most unassuming paradise at the end of Frog Hollar road. The cabin is nestled on 1.5 acres and gives way to miles of spectacular view. You will be inspired by a feeling of peace and solitude that will not be disturbed by any visible neighboring cabins or homes from any of the four cabin decks.
This is a very warm and inviting traditional cedar log cabin with views from each of the four decks and nearly every window! The main level has the master bedroom, and living room with cozy gas log fireplace, inviting furniture and deck as well overlooking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The third bedroom is in the loft area, and has its own private deck. The lower level has a family room with sofa sleeper and a bedroom with two single pine-pole beds and full bath.
A six-person hot tub provides great relaxation after a strenous hike, skiing day, or just for fun. A fire pit also makes for the mountainy feel of camping under the stars. (Always remember to completely extinguish any campfires)
The cardinals and hummingbirds love hanging out at our cabin, and are entertaining to watch while enjoying morning coffee. Watch the sunset, or an approaching thunderstorm, with an evening cocktail around the comfortable dinette or in one of two oversized rockers. The deer and turkeys like to frolic about, too! There is plenty of hiking right from the back door. Take your camera and a small bag to collect wild blackberries.
While the cabin is very secluded and quiet, it is only minutes to lots of activities should you decide to leave the beauty and serenity of the cabin. The cabin is a short ride on the Blue Ridge to Cascade Falls or an apple orchard at Green Hill.
This is a unique property for people who value quiet time, great views and bonding with nature. The cabin is about 20 minutes to Boone (via hwy 421) and Blowing Rock (via the BR Parkway), and a stone's throw to the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.
The cabin is complete with every amenity including WildBlue Broadband Internet access that lets you stay in touch and find the latest mountain entertainment. Play Station II is also available should you need a session of "Guitar Hero", or Kareoke American Idol" to complete a great day. A piano keyboard is also available for mountain musicians. Bring your ipod so you can share and enjoy your own music on the digital music system.
See the facebook link below for more pictures of the cabin.

Our stay at Songbird was a peaceful and quiet stay. We wish we could have stayed longer. The views are beyond the pictures on this post. You have to be here to enjoy the view. My only complaint was the closeness of the neighbor next door and not having curtains on the windows facing their home. Otherwise this is a beautiful home, well decorated, and Karen has been a dream to work with.

Me and My Girlfriend went on a weekend trip for Valentine's this year and stayed at this Cabin. The views are breathtaking and the Cabin is so much bigger than it looks when you step inside. The hot tub was wonderful, nothing like sitting in the hot tub at night and enjoying the stars and the sunset just before while overlooking the majestic mountains. It snowed so quick on the second day we stayed there, we were out getting some food and looking around and I honestly bet it snowed a good 2 inches on the roads in a matter of minutes. We were stuck at the bottom of the mountain going up to the cabin and Karen was very helpful and quick in getting us some help. The next day the snow had melted and we enjoyed a wonderful snowy scene the night before. The sunrise is gorgeous and you can see it in all its beauty when you wake up in the morning. We will definitely be back and preferably more sooner than later, I would recommend this to anyone for any reason, it will really leave you impressed. -Randy

My wife and I took our annual NC/Tennessee vacation and decided on the Songbird and wow did we make the right choice. The cabin was not only beautiful and modern, it was fully stocked with anything you could ever need. We arrived at night our first night and couldn't really see the views, but when we woke up the next morning the views blew us away during the sunrise. We spent the rest of the time hiking, enjoying the hot tub and fireplace and spending quality time together away from work, TV and other distractions. We also did some ice skating at the Appalacian Ski Mountain outside under the stars to great 80's music. Our two dogs also had a great time and were exhausted from the mountains by the time we left. We will definitely be returning to the Songbird. Hopefully we will catch some snow next time. Also, Karen is amazing to work with.

My family and I were blessed to be able to spend Christmas in this wonderful cabin. We could not have imagined a more perfect place to spend the holidays. The views are absolutly breathtaking! The pictures though beautiful do not even capture the majesty of this place. We had incredible weather while we were there and saw the most amazing sunrise and sunsets from the back deck. The interior of the cabin is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment you enter the front door you can not help but leave your busy hectic life behind! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with our family. We can not wait until we can go again!

The photos showed a stunning view, but we were not prepared for such a breathtaking scope of scenery. We could pick out Grandfather Mtn (which we hiked) while sitting in the marvelous hot tub, soothing our muscles. Due to the unseasonably warm days, we ate our dinners out on the deck - so pleasant! The entire place was delightfully decorated, clean, every imaginable item provided. I appreciated the nice bedding, THICK towels, extras like common herbs and spices in the well-equipped kitchen, video games for the boys, filtered water and ice. Never even took the time to turn on our TV, but the boys did, down in the family room, out of earshot:) We enjoyed the telescope, picking out the craters on the moon, and craigs on distant mountains. Close to Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mtn (45 min), and the amazing scenic drive along the BRPkway from Boone to Linville. We especially enjoyed picking gems at Foggy Mountain Gem Mine (Rt. 105S), managed to see Sugar Mountain from their ski lift during the Oktoberfest, complete with cheesy German band:) My husband skipped that day, and spent valuable Alone Time hiking, rocking in those marvelous BIG rocking chairs on the main deck, studying the soothing art gallery of God. The highlight for the guys was climbing Grandfather Mtn. Due to the cold snap the previous week, fall color started in earnest while we were there, a mite early, thankfully. Finally, it's with good reason every one of these views are 5-star. The only reason I wouldn't recommend it to everyone would be because there might not be room for us to return if y'all come! Thanks again, Karen!

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! This was our first reaction walking into the cabin. The views are fantastic from every level in this cabin. Just step out onto the deck and you have that almost to heaven feeling. We were looking for peace and quiet, "away from it all" and just relaxing. As they say "just what the doctor ordered"!! We did exactly that. Didn't venture very far, only down the hill to pet the dogs, Rebel and Ranger and to visit the goats and ponies. Eat, sleep and relax in the hot tub...repeat daily!! The cabin is very welcoming that presents with a come on in and stay awhile atmosphere. We will definetly come back to Songbird Cabin on Frog Holler lane. We have found our little "home" away from home !! Eagerly awaiting our next visit.

Our stay at Frog Hollar was exceptional. My husband was getting ready to go on his 3rd deployment to Iraq and we needed a place for us and our 3 children (and dog!) to spend some quality time together. Frog Hollar fulfilled all we set out to do: hike, relax, play board games, stare at the incomparable view, relax, make great meals, read, relax, sit in the hot tub...you get the idea. We plan on vacationing at Frog Hollar again when my husband returns and even have a special little account set aside just for it. Karen really did think of everything; there was nothing lacking. We did bring a shelter to place over the hot tub for rain at the advice of a previous reviewer and it worked out perfectly. The only thing I recommend is bringing your basics, i.e. flour, sugar, coffee, etc.. Lovelovelove Frog Hollar!

We were married in the Boone area a couple of years ago and try to return each year on our anniversary. We were so excited to find this cabin! The pictures do not do it justice. It is a beautiful place and is conveniently located off the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is within minutes of the Boone and Blowing Rock areas. During our visit, we enjoyed the views of the snowed mountains while we sat in the hot tub and relaxed. One night when it started to snow we rented some movies and decided to turn off all the lights in the cabin, while the fire blazed in the fireplace, and watched the snow fall outside. It was so peaceful. It felt like a home away from home. It's a great place to spend some quality time with loved ones and to recharge. We are definitely planning to go back!
