  It was everything we hoped for...lots of room, close to everything, clean,lots and lots of stairs. I will recommend to anyone else who may need a place on Folly Beach. My son got married and I rented this place for all my friends to stay at....we had a blast. VRBO made it easy to book.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

  Our family group, ranging in age from 1-85 recently enjoyed a week at this property. It was the perfect vacation home. We enjoyed the large porch at all times of the day and evening, watching the beach and enjoying the breeze. The home was clean, very well furnished, well appointed. The walk to the beach was easy. The large open room with large table was perfect for meals and games in the evenings. We loved the ability to walk to shops, the pier and restraurants. We never quite figured out all the tv remotes but only turned on one tv to watch some of the Olympics so it was not really an issue. Bert's, the little store behind the house was a wonderful place to pick up milk, bread and other necessities. We really had no favorite place to eat, everyone had their own favorite. We had one small issue requiring contact with the owner and it was quickly and effectively resolved. We believe we had the best accommodations at Folly Beach. With such a diverse age group, we had people at the beach, going into Charleston, to Fort Sumter, parasailing, jet skiing, as well as just chilling on the porch. Perfect location for a variety of activities. I would highly recommend this rental and do hope to return

  Pros: LOCATION, LOCATION, and LOCATION! The Penthouse is one of the best locations on Folly Beach. You can park your car and walk to the stores, seafood restaurants, music fun and famous pier. And you are just steps away from the beach. The Penthouse has a wonderful open floor plan. It was rejuvenating falling asleep listening to the sound of ocean waves, then waking to the sunrise over the ocean, from the large master suite. The spacious porch is the prefect spot for drinking your morning coffee or evening cocktails while watching life on the beach. We found everyone we encounter on Folly to be very friendly and helpful. Black Magic Café was our favorite spot for morning coffees, breakfast and Internet access. Bert's store (also just steps away) has a little of anything you may need. Cons: There are lots of steps to the top, and this would be a real issue for anyone with any kind of disability (breathing, physical, heart). We had some issues with the cleaning service and the properties up keep which we have addressed with the management company.

  Our family had a wonderful week at the beach. The Penthouse was just as described in the listing. Fabulous views, a great wide porch which was perfect for the start and end of each day, walking distance to restaurants, the pier, Berts market...very relaxing just to stay out of the car all week. The decor was so nice...I wish my house was so well decorated. Beautiful shining hardwood floors and we especially liked all the windows. Thanks for making our vacation the best!

  Our stay was 7/30 - 8/6. The location couldn't be better with the closeness of the beach and the restaurants/shops. While the amount of steps was expected, they could use some upkeep as some of the nails are starting to pop up. The porch was a perfect start and end to all our days but could use some more seating and some minor upkeep of the existing chairs. The four bedrooms are very nice but the back bedroom on right side of home had a very squeaky bed and was the only room not to have a TV. We felt the loft area was not a good place for sleeping as one can hear everything from doors shutting, microwave running, etc. echoing from the main level. Also, while we never ran out of hot water, we could not run two showers at the same time as the first one to start got the hot water. We did make use of the outside showers for rinsing off after returning from the beach. The house is very nice, but we felt that for the price, it should have provided a few more amenities such as kitchen towels, extra trash bags, toilet paper, etc. Overall, we had a very nice time and enjoyed our stay at the Penthouse.

  Owner response: Thanks for your great review. We always advise guests that they should not try to sleep adults in the loft as there is no bathroom in the loft. Typically, the loft is used by teenagers in the group and they love having their own space! We have taken care of the pop-up nails you noted, thanks! We have a full-time, 24-hour a day property managment company with concierge services right on the island, literally 4 minutes away. They are always available to come out and oil a squeaky bed, check the thermostat on the water-heater, etc. but they can't help if they aren't informed of an issue. Starter rolls of toilet paper are provided for each bathroom, a starter roll of paper towels, kitchen garbage bag, and tablets for the dishwasher. This makes it so that guests don't have to run to the store right away. However, refills of toilet paper, paper towels, etc. once the starters run out are up to the guest. Guests are usually very impressed with what they are provided upon check in. Again, thanks for the 4 star review. It sounds like you guys really enjoyed your stay at the Penthouse. : )

  Great time! The property was located just across the street from the public beach access and only one block to all the restaurants, pier, etc. Overall location was fantastic! Great view of the ocean from the big front deck. We had 7 adults and 3 small children, and this property had plenty of room for all of us. The rooms were large and the overall layout was excellent. The bathrooms are located between the bedrooms for easy access. The lofts were a very nice feature, but for adults only, as the stair rails are spaced very far apart (kids could fall through them). The property could use some easy updating & maintenance. The outdoor furniture was dated & some pieces were in bad shape. The bathroom ceiling vent fan didn't work. The electronics could be updated. Cleaning crew could have done a better job before we arrived also. Overall, we had a great time at this rental, and the location was fabulous. If you have multiple families or a big group traveling to Folly - check this place out. We would rent this property again in the future!

  We stayed at Folly 6-11-11/6-18-11. The location could not have been more perfect. We could walk EVERYWHERE. We walked to Bert's everyday The house is a perfect size too. The only draw back is the noise. We stayed in the Penthouse and the people below us thought we were running around and jumping when we were just walking. And the kitchen could be stocked better.

  We all plan a mother-daughter vacation every year. This is the second year for us to stay in this house. We love it here. Hopefully we’ll be back next year, therefore sharing your beautiful place.

  Thank you so much for such a lovely spacious home. We were in Folly Beach for our daughter’s wedding. All of us were able to be together and even have room for the grandbabies too! We loved the fact we could walk to as many places. I think the large porch was our favorite. We had coffee out there in the morning and also ended out day there too. We will have great memories and be back too!

  My husband and I live in Charleston and had our family here for our wedding. We had family all over Folly and some at this house. It is perfect. The location is great. Just off the water- you can see it still, hear the waves and feel the breezes. You can stroll right to the main street to get drinks and food! The house is clean and very well kept. We had a big dinner there along with many night of large groups just drinking wine on the porch. There are a lot of steps.. just a heads up! Everyone else who chose to stay some place else were jealous!
