I retired in May and arrived at Casa de Aparicio Casita #4 on July 5, 2012 and stayed until August 31, 2012. My goal was to unwind, relax, enjoy delightful weather and delicious food. Mission accomplished! I was delighted in my accomaditions and the warm hospitality extend by the owner Pat. I also enjoyed meeting the other interesting guests who gravitate to Casa de Aparicio. I highly recommend a short or longterm stay at Casa De Apraicio!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My family and I had the pleasure of spending a month in casita #3. Pat the owner was very warm and welcoming and always available and very responsive to our needs. We were extremely comfortable in our tastefully decorated, delightful casita, and the grounds are so beautiful and relaxing. The location is very central, an enjoyable short walk to most sights, very easy to get around. San Miguel is awesome and we will definitely be back and stay at Casa de Aparicio. Thank you, Pat!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing, girls getaway.

I recently spent the month of April in San Miguel and was thrilled with my stay at Casa de Aparicio. At the onset, owner Pat, was most hospitable and hosted a little cocktail party for her guests to become acquainted with each other. She lives on the top tier of the property and is always available for any need or just conversation. The website photos clearly tell the story of Casa de Aparicio . . . colorful, beautiful flora and comfortable accommodations. I stayed in Casita #3 and thoroughly enjoyed the morning sun at my patio as I had my coffee with the surrounding flowers and the birds in the trees. And, the location of the property is superb, tucked into a quiet neighborhood, yet only blocks from all that San Miguel has to offer . . . the Churches, the Jardin, the Mercado, shopping, restaurants & galleries and the many fiestas. This was my 5th visit to San Miguel and the 1st of what I hope will be future stays at Casa de Aparicio. I truly found my “home away from home” thanks to Pat, her staff and the guests.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway.

The location is perfect! The walk from Casa de Aparicio to the Jardin, restaurants, shops and mercados only takes minutes and is nearly flat. Even though the Casa is in the Centro, it is also in an authentic Mexican residential neighborhood. Try greeting the Mexican neighbors with “Buenos dias” in the morning for a warm and friendly response! The sounds of the neighborhood are enchanting: roosters crowing, church bells ringing, children playing and music drifting in the air. The clanking of a bell to announce the trash collection adds to the cacophony. The sounds of fiestas and the sights and sounds of fireworks add even more. The views are lovely from the private multileveled sitting areas. There is a dramatic view from the shared rooftop where sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. The terraced patio garden contains beautiful shrubs, plants, vines and flowers throughout that support birds, butterflies, hummingbirds and dragonflies. Everything on the website about Casa de Apricio is true and even better than stated. Our stay was a wondrous and magical experience!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I was lucky enough to spend a month at Casa Aparicio in April/May 2011. What a wonderful experience! The casitas are clean, comfortable and colorfully decorated. I was especially impressed and grateful to the onsite owner of the property who went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and content. I will definitely recommend this peaceful setting and perfect location to all of my friends and am looking forward to returning next year.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway.

I am enjoying a 3-month stay in SMA, but the house I rent is not right in el centro (town), so when a friend came to visit from the states, we stayed at Casa de Aparicio for five days. I had personally visited many, many hotels in town for his visit, and by far this property was the most serene and beautiful, and the best value for the money....with all the comforts of home(e.g. flat screen TV, free internet, Vonage unlimited calling, etc) in a very traditional setting. I was surprised to find that even the sheets were of the highest quality of any U.S. hotel! The casitas are all as charming and well-appointed as the photos depict; those of the exterior, however, cannot do the spacious, private grounds justice! As lovely as all the guest casitas are, the grounds with the multi-level decks, patios, flowers and lighting was my favorite part, and with each casita having a private patio, it's easy to enjoy it all! I will be coming back to SMA in the future, and plan on staying at Casa de Aparicio....but next time, booking for a month or more!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, girls getaway.

Enjoyed our stay here, great location (5min. walk to Centro), owner Pat's hospitality was like our long time sailing friends. We would recommend this for anyone wanting to visit and explore SMA. You can obtain a good city map at the tourist center by the Jardin, really necessary. A few of our personal favorites you might like to check out- Buenos Dias Cafe, Relox #64 breakfast & lunch, closed tuesday. Cafe Contento, Hernandez Macias #? ,Artisan Bread. Mare Nostrum, Umaran #56, great italian food. La Europa, #13 Canal, wine/spirits all type. Super Bonanza- Mesones, # 43,all types groceries. Panera La Colemena, #19A Relox (green doors), mexican bakery. Creamery on Mesones corner of park. Bajiogoshuttle, 11 jesus, shuttle to airports. Just a few we found and there are many more, hope you enjoy SMA as much as we did.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This is an exceptional property. The pictures cannot do justice to the decor and Pat has been a font of information and help. We're just 5 to 10 minutes from the center of town and I think this is a perfect location. Far enough away to miss the sometimes seriously lively scene in El Jardin, but close enough to get there quickly if you feel like it. The entire property is very clean and well maintained and the furnishing reflect Pat's excellent decorating choices. They place feels both homey and glamorous. I feel like I can call this home without having to put quotation marks around the word! As a cook I've found the large modern kitchen do be a real asset. And within a 1 1/2 block radius is a major market, a restaurant, 2 itty bitty mini markets, a couple of larger markets, more than 1 bakery, more than 1 place to get fresh roasted chicken and an ice cream store. My only hesitation is posting is that someone will grab this fabulous space before I get around to making my next reservation!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway.

The owner, Pat Robinson, is delightful, accomodating and fun! However, I want to tell you about the property, location, as I assume that is what you are most interested in. I am familiar with San Miguel and always seek a place where I can walk to town, Centro, where everything happens, at least once a day, if not twice or more. I found Casa de Aparicio last trip in October, and it is perfect! Walk to the end of the block, turn right on Mesones, meander down and you will hit the center of town, the fabulous Parroquoia, church, in front of the fabulous Plaza. On the way you will pass roasting chickens, bakeries, stores, and the so popular Cafe Agustin (not without reason)! About a block and a half down Mesones you will come to Colegio; turn right and, Hola! there is the Covered Market and Craft Market. (Google these for more info.) San Miguel is called the "City of Doors," and behind Pat's door is, what I would characterize as a compound of apts climbing a flower-filled slope. Did I mention I also have to seek lodging I can "afford?" Pat has something for everyone, from a small guest room to a studio-like with 2 beds (where my sister and stayed) and on up the ladder. I love it that everyone has their own little terrace/patio. You meet the other guests coming and going, and my sister and I met some great new friends. This is the best place at the best price I have yet to find. Our neighbor at Casa de Aparicio booked again before leaving and I know I will be back!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This was my second trip to San Miguel and my second stay at Casa Aparicio. It was perfect for me: safe, quaint, and full of San Miguel charm. I like having a short walk to the Jardin, the Market, and the Biblioteca. It was also fun on each visit to meet my neighbors.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

About the owner: I came from New Jersey where I was a hospice social worker and psychotherapist. Like so many before me, and since, I fell in love with San Miguel. From the moment I arrived I felt the warmth of the Mexican people and ex-pats making San Miguel their home. After renting for a while I decided that this was where I wanted to be. I love meeting new people and this town is full of them! I meet even more by having guests staying with me at Casa de Aparicio.
Why the Owner Chose Centro:
The joy that most people feel being in San Miguel was a major drawing point. When I first arrived by bus from Mexico City to do an intensive language course while staying with a Mexican family I experienced such a feeling of joy on the bus. I realized that there was no other place I'd rather be at that moment. (I was in the front seat so that may have had something to do with it). My positive feelings continued each of the 3 times I revisited. Then I decided to take the plunge and buy this property.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
This question is very easy. No where else could I meet such a diverse and interesting group of people. And they are my guests!!!!! I can't recall anyone who was disagreeable. That is saying a lot after 4 years. The town is chock full of people who have travelled the world and as a result are quite stimulating to converse with. In addition to my guests this is the easiest place to meet others. Just go to the jardin, sit on a bench and you will acquire instant companionship. Where else can you do that?
