Port-Grimaud, France... Welcome, and thank you for your interest in our wonderful, vacation home. Please use this to learn more about one of the most beautiful vacation spots on earth.

The vacation home is built on three levels. On the first level is the living room, which looks out over the large waterfront patio, a dinette, and kitchen. The kitchen is small but well equipped, including dishwasher and washing machine. There is service for eight, and eight can sit either inside or at the table on the patio, although more than six inside gets tight.

On the second level is a master bedroom with a king size bed, a second bedroom with one queen size bed, and a bathroom between. The third level is similar, except that it has two 90cm x 190 cm beds in one of the rooms.

LINENS
It is the custom in France for renters to bring their own linen and towels. Accordingly, there is a place to rent those items in the commercial center, and our concierge Mr. Rey can direct you to it and help you if necessary. If you arrive at an inconvenient time, there are linens in the house, in the wicker basket just after the entrance. Since most non-food related business is closed on Sunday, and Mr. Rey does not work on Sunday, plan your trip to arrive mid-day on a day other than Sunday.

KEYS
Pick up the keys from the concierge, Mr. Rey, the "guardian" of our street, who lives on Rue des trois Rives, the first house (but second door) on the right side of Rue des Trois Rives as you enter the street. One key fits the front door bottom lock, one the front door top bolt, and we try to keep the canal side key in the door at all times. Mr. Rey does not work on Sunday, so if you are going to arrive on Sunday you have to make special arrangements with us. Ask for a second set of keys if you need it. If you are arriving late or on a Sunday, please call Mr. Rey and make special arrangements with him. Or, in case of any problem, please call the owner, Michel in Paris. Michel and his wife Gudny, both speak English, Gudny also speaks Norwegian).

TELEPHONE, PARKING, ETC.
A telephone, and usually a portable telephone is normally connected at the house. Please do not make any calls that will appear on our bills unless you obtain the cost and send us a check for it. To dial the United States, by credit card call, we recommend USA direct by AT&T (ask owner for phone number). An AT&T operator will come on the line, or you can dial direct and enter a credit card number.

--The hot water heater is located over the refrigerator. In summer the lever goes on the sun icon, so that the heating system is off. In winter the lever goes to the snowflake icon, to turn on the heat. For help with any of these items you can talk with Mr. Rey. He speaks French and German, but not much English. If you want maid service, Mr Rey can help you.

--On the table near the front door should be a parking sticker. Keep it in your car and the guard will automatically open the gate for you when you drive in (if he's awake). The number on the sticker is our parking space number. You can drive up to the door of the house to load or unload, but you are supposed to park the car in our space, which is a 2-3 minute walk away. To enter the parking lot from our house, turn in either direction onto Rue de la Giscle and turn into the first driveway. PLEASE LEAVE THE PARKING STICKER ON THE FRONT TABLE WHEN YOU LEAVE. Except during the period June 15 through September 15 there are lots of empty spaces, and if you need a second Mr. Rey can tell which is free.

You may also find "coche d'eaux" passes. These permit you to ride on the Resident's water taxi inside Port Grimaud free of charge. There are usually four tickets. The Resident boat is not the same as the tourist boat..

There are a few items in the house that you will find:
* An orange juicer in the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is nothing you should need. Note that the stove has both electric and gas burners. The gas burners must be lit with the red button on the right of the dashboard. There is also a microwave oven. Please be careful not to put anything metal into this oven.

* A vacuum cleaner either in the upstairs closet or the "cave" next to the fireplace. We do not use the fireplace as it smokes up the house.

* The television has a remote control, and is connected to cable. There are stations in French, German, and English, including CNN.

* There is a radio with AM, FM, tape player and disk player.

* There are three electric fans, which keep the house cool, and keep mosquitoes away at night.

* There is an iron and ironing board in the second floor closet.

IF YOU SMOKE, please smoke only on the patio, and not in the house. No Pets.

A nice house !

Guest: David (Paris, France)
Date of Stay: 05/25/11 Review Submitted: 06/16/11

First of all, sorry for my "poor" english as I am french native. But I really don't understand the previous review... At the end of May, I spent 6 days in this house, and the environment is amazing. OK it's not a latest fashion decoration, but it doesn't mind. I didn't use the washing machine, but the dishwasher cleaned everything very well (maybe the previous review forgot to put the cleaning product ;-))). Rooms are big enough, with comfortable beds ! The patio is very nice (you can eat and enjoy the sun in the deckchairs...). And the beach is 5 minutes away !!! The parking is 1 minute by walk. In final, everything is not as PERFECT as you can have in a 5 star hotel, but I really recommend this house. I also recommend you to visit the coast around Saint-Tropez : AMAZING !! Kisses. David

Very disappointing......

Guest: Disappointed Guest (California)
Date of Stay: 04/16/11 Review Submitted: 05/26/11

This property is truly in a wonderful location; we just loved the area. However, the rental property was very disappointing. Yes, the kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. The washing machine did not work and the dishwasher only cleaned two of the dishes of the entire load. The place is decorated like a college boys dorm room. There was no boat as we were promised when we rented the place. The patio was overgrown with weeds with two old bikes piled on top of them. There is a reason there are no pictures of the bedrooms. The guardian was drunk when we arrived and didn’t know where the keys were.

Owner response:"We recognize that US visitors to Port Grimaud might be used to staying in very fancy hotels with top quality service and expensive decor. Port Grimaud is not really like that. Sometimes you have to hand wash the dishes yourself. The garden is not always manicured. The decor is pleasant, with nice art on the walls but the furniture is selected to allow for families to use it without fear of damaging it. Most people staying here love it, as we do. We don't mind if the guardian has a few drinks on the weekend, and sometimes we join him in a glass of wine. And boats are for rent in several places nearby. But it's not for everyone."

Lovely waterside house

Guest: Maggie (UK)
Date of Stay: 10/15/10 Review Submitted: 11/03/10

Thank you for letting us rent your house, we enjoyed staying there. It is very comfortable, well equiped and in a very nice area. We loved sitting on the terrace and having lunch there. It was great to have the boat at the end of the garden, also the wifi and English television channels. Hope to rent it again.
