The "Madonna"apartment is bright and very comfortable and is part
of an ancient Venetian house,dating back to the 16th century located in a sunny,quiet and small square,at the end of the neighbourhood of "Cannaregio" bordering the other two neighbourhoods of Castello and Saint Mark.The house overlooking a small square,surrounded by ancient columns and romantic, walled gardens,is so peaceful to let you enjoy a bit of the slow Venetian life and gossip.
A few walking minutes to the "Ca D'Oro" water bus stop and Rialto on the Grand Canal.
Your own front door leads you with just two steps into the entrance hall separated from the living/kitchen area by a wooden partition. The bright kitchen area,full of sunshine, with two windows overlooking the small, sunny and quiet square of "Madonna" is equipped with a modern cooking top and oven, fridge, microwave oven, tv, radio and washing-machine.
All around there is a big and very comfortable leather sofa.The table and chairs stand in the middle of the room.
Between the living/kitchen area and its wooden partition there is a bunk bed for 2 adults or children placed in the entrance hall.
A wooden wall with a door leads into a small room (den) where there is the possibility for a small child of about seven or eight to sleep near the parents'bedroom.
From here you get into the modern master bedroom with ancient exposed wooden beams and two windows overlooking the alley leading to "Fondamente Nuove".Next to the master-room and the den but with its independent entrance door there is a modern bath-room equipped with shower and all other comforts.
All cooking utensils,bed and table linen,towels,sheets and blanckets for four people are provided.
The apartment is also dry and airy because of its sunny location and there is no humidity coming from the water of the canals.
It is ideal for a couple or a small family with one or two children as you can let them play outside in the square without worrying about canals,noise and crowds.You can also watch them comfortably sitting inside from the kitchen windows or sitting next to the entrance door,or,if you like, outside in the sunny square next to the door and the ancient column in the corner.
It is also VERY convenient for elderly people who do not wish to climb stairs and like relaxing in a quiet place far from the tourist crawling and enjoy a central location as well as a taste of the quiet and merry Venetian life which is still alive in this area.
A big supermarket is one minute far from the flat and there are also lots of other small traditional shops like a wine shop where you can buy wine by the bottle,a traditional fruit and vegetable stall,restaurants,a pizzeria and some "Baccari",traditional Venetian wine bars where you can taste our local munches.
Maria and her husband Leo,a Venetian painter,whose paintings decorate all the walls, will welcome you on arrival and take you to the apartment. |
