Gated Beach, Opal Cliffs, Pleasure Point, and Capitola Village
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Santa Cruz
The Opal Cliffs neighborhood offers a vacation vibe in a family friendly neighborhood. Nestled between Capitola Village and Pleasure Point you can walk to everything you need while at the same time having home base in a quiet safe neighborhood. Many people run, walk, and bike on Opal Cliff Drive to take in this beautiful street. We love living here because everything you need is within a few blocks. You can literally park your car for the week and walk to Pilates, baked goods, surf shops, breakfast, organic markets, bars, beaches, bike shops, boutiques, wine tasting and anything else you can think of. I often think our neighborhood is to good to be true....but it is true. Come and see.

Vaquita House may very well be the cleanest rental in Santa Cruz. I personally do the check ins and check outs and I keep the property in tip top shape. The Vaquita House is professionally cleaned between each stay. We live next door and are here for anything you may need. Need a restaurant recommendation for dinner with the kids, you got it! Best surf shop for bikinis, you got it! Best romantic dinner spot, you got it! We love to share the ins and outs of Santa Cruz and Captiola and are happy to answer your questions at any time during your stay.
Charming Shops & Restaurants, Art Galleries, Coffee, Ice Cream Parlors, all in the quaint seaside village of Capitola. Festivals and Events year round including the Begonia Festival and the Art and Wi
Tennis Courts, Soccer Fields, Basketball Hoops, and a kids playground. Walking distance from Vaquita House.
Our neighborhood gated beach. All guests are provided with a key to access Privates during their stay.

My husband John and I own and manage the Vaquita House. In addition to managing and maintaining Vaquita House, I am graduate student and mother. My disseration work focuses on coastal conservation as does the theme of the Vaquita House. The Vaquita is an endangered porpoise found only in the Gulf of California. We donate a portion of the proceeds from the house to CEDO, a conservation group working to save the Vaquita from extinction. The house is decorated with art featuring the Vaquita and we also have informational pamphlets and coloring books about the Vaquita.

Great location. The neighborhood is clean and quiet. The house is charming and feels as comfortable as my own. Nice shopping and restaurants within walking distance. 90 minutes to San Fran. 30-45 minutes to Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur but also plenty to do right there in Capitola/Santa Cruz. Loved it!!

We rented Vaquita house thinking we (h&w) would be at the US Open in Pebble Beach and our two teens would be surfing. Ended up our kids didn't go because of other commitments, so we only needed one bedroom. But I'm still glad we ended up here - the house is so inviting, clean and comfortable and practically everything is provided. The location can't be beat although it was a drive down to PB. I just wish our kids could have come because they would have loved it too. I want to come back, in fact, I would like to move in permanently!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We stayed in this house in Aug 2009. We found the house to be of a very good standard great postion safe and quiet. The only small consideration we would ask is that it provides accommodation for 4 people, therefore it needs to have 4 dining chairs. as i said small note to consider. christine was more than helpful and would stay at this place again.
Owner response:Hi Kathy, Thanks for the feedback. The layout of the house works best with the two chairs at the breakfast table and the two chairs at the adjacent bar area. Also, there is a table and four chairs in the patio area for outside dining. Glad you enjoyed the house. Thanks, Chris
