Why the Owner Chose Sayulita
I chose to move to Sayulita the end of 1991 to work in PV and make my life in Mexico. I did build two houses in Sayulita, worked in PV and loved the beauty and community of Sayulita, what a paradise. I lived there full time for nine years. Nowadays, I try to visit and enjoy Sayulita as well as personally check on the property about four times a year.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
The location of the casita is very convenient. I love being close to town, the beach and everything that is going on..........You can walk everywhere.
Nowadays, the bus runs often and a car is not needed.
The house is a large studio house that is very comfortable with adequate indoor and outdoor living space and as the ad states, "walk right in and sit right down.......you are at home."
Eat at one of the cafes along the beach or stop at the store for snacks.
Just the other side of the river is the bus stop. The buses run every 20 min. to Puerto Vallarta. To return catch the bus in PV in front of WalMart or across the street from the airport. Bus stops are well marked.
Owner's Map of Sayulita
I had been living in Sayulita since '92 in Casa Colina, and decided to build Casita Colina next door. I moved there and rented the larger house in 1997 to tourists, as Sayulita was beginning to be discovered as a vacation destination.

We so loved the place, and location of this casita. We rented it for 5 weeks but had to leave 12 days early as we just could not take the noise any longer from the bands in town. Our brains were completely addled from lack of sleep. We have visited Sayulita annually for nearly 25 years, and this was our first time leaving early. We would have loved a refund to stay somewhere else, as it was really an impossible situation, and not the owners fault...but no zoning prevents her having much say. There is a huge wall next to the casita and the sound bounces off and comes right into the casita. Such a shame. the bands were from Don Patos and at Mangiofucco...Perhaps they will go out of business some day....and the town can have its charm back...
Owner response:Yes, Mexico is not a "quiet culture" and I most often discuss this with potential guests. We have always, the past 21 years, since I've been there, had some loud music; dances, festive seasons and special events. Now, that Sayulita has become "known" and there are many tourist, there are many more cafes with music for the tourists. I, intentionally, arrived the week after these guests left to see "what was going on", stayed 12 days and found it fine with some tolerable music at night. I did inquire with neighbors at this time if the music had quieted from the previous weeks and was told, yes, it had. The bottom line is you hear the music most everywhere in Sayulita, as the geography of the hills and beach allow the sound to carry unobstructed up unless you are far away from the center of town. Perhaps sometime in the future we may have different zoning laws about this? However, it is the differences in cultures that tempts people to travel and some differences may be to ones liking and others not so.

I can't wait to go back, the Casita is so cute, and the perfect romantic getaway. The proximity to town & the beach is ideal, 5 minutes is exactly right, 3 if you're walking fast! I have to say Sayulita is a vacation spot made for me, really great shopping & a nice little surf break, we did both every day. It was also convenient having the kitchen for morning breakfast and coffee. Lucy the caretaker was really nice & went out of her way to take care of us. I would recommend this place to anyone needing a break from the hustle & bustle of every day life.

A heavenly little place. Extremely tranquil and beautifully decorated. Being on a hill, the view of Sayulita and the beaches is excellent. The only problem was being kept awake some nights by bands at parties in town!
