We were traveling up from SF to take our daughter to check out Humbolt State. It was a great place to stay for two nights -- totally charming and a nice change from the motels in Acata and Eureka. Cindy was accommodating of our last minute request and the house was lovely, clean and charming. We enjoyed it very much.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The White House is so cute and special! It is full of antiques and historical photos which were captivating, I love history. Everything was appointed with obvious love and care. It's right in the heart of downtown Ferndale (quite possibly the cutest town ever), we could walk to the grocery story and all the cute restaurants. The beds are VERY comfortable and the rooms are so dark and quiet, I don't think I've ever slept so well. We also cooked in the kitchen one night, and for breakfasts, it's so nice to have a fully equipped kitchen at a rental. The house is a tremendous value. I can't wait to return to this unbelievably charming area.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was such a delightful place to stay. It is very convenient on a few steps to town. It is next to the Fire Station which is usually closed, so it is very quiet and peaceful. The house has been completely redone and is a wonderful combination of historic period remodel with modern conveniences in the kitchen and bath. It is elegant, relaxing, nicely appointed, beautiful and furnished with flair. The owners have accentuated the history of the area and the prior owners of the house from the 1800s in memorabilia and photos which are fun to explore. Everything is well stocked and comfortable. You can cook a gourmet meal in the kitchen. The yard is all set up for pets, relaxing and BBQ meals. I highly recommend this. The only unusual thing is that it is heated with a pellet stove. It heats well, but does take some administering to (but not an inconvenience).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Clean, well-equipped historic home close to shopping and restaurants. Beautifully decorated with many antiques and photos. The pellet stove was easy and very efficient. We loved the bedrooms and the bed in the angel room was so comfortable, I was sad to leave! I would love to return someday, and wouldn't stay anywhere else!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This historic cottage is a great getaway from anyone's busy life. It is completely full of any essential one needs to spend a restful weekend or a busy outdoor adventure week. There are great areas to hike nearby, including nearby Russ Park, the Redwood forest, or the ocean is just a short drive away! There are delicious restaurants within walking distance (I highly recommend the Ivanhoe for Italian- steak- or fish). The cottage is full of historical photos of the Ferndale area, beautiful antiques and comfortable furnishings. Sleeping in the romantic master bedroom after a bubble bath in the claw foot tub makes for a lovely ending to a romantic evening. And the local folks in Ferndale are friendly and the town and neighborhood are very safe, making walks about town (night or day) a good way to fit in some sightseeing of the Victorian houses in town. I highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I was in Ferndale on business for the week and stayed in this wonderful home. Everything you could possibly need was there. Fully stocked kitchen, backyard with gas bbq, beautifully furnished, and in the middle of town. You could literally park your car for a weekend and not drive. Grocery store is a block away, theater 1/2 block, excellent salon/spa 1/2 blk, restaurants, bars, boutiques. Cindy is so quick to respond if there are any problems or questions. When travelling to Ferndale I will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. The owners have loving restored this historic home and furnished it with wonderful antiques and family memorabilia. Loved the claw foot bath tub. The kitchen is very modern, up to date, and well-stocked with cooking essentials. There is a small courtyard behind the house for enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. The cottage is conveniently located in a quiet location, so we could walk to shops and restaurants and the market. Ferndale is a charming and historic Victorian town and an ideal location for exploring the Avenue of the Giants and the Lost Coast. We had dinner twice at the restaurant at the Hotel Ivanhoe, and both times the food was outstanding.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
