This cottage, known as Cahill Cottage, is on Whale Watch point, a quaint, hidden section of cliff along the Pacific Coast in the village of La Jolla. There is nothing in front of this two bedroom cottage but ocean. A patio in the front of the cottage is set up for the best sunset watching in town.
There are few places on the Pacific Coast where the ocean is viewed and experienced in such splendor. During the months of December thru March a parade of whales dance across the horizon and can be seen spouting and jumping from the windows. Down the cliffs are great tidal pools ready for young and old to explore.
Also there are sandy beaches to the left and right great for body surfing or boogie boarding. Just a block away is the famous seal rookery where you can watch baby seals swim with their mommas. On one of the beaches you can swim with the seals yourself. All just within a block of the cottage.
The cottage was remodeled in sea cottage blues and greens, very soothing. The living room gives view to the most beautiful stretch of coast line in San Diego. The decor is warm and comfortable as any west or east coast sea cottage can promise. Extremely clean this place lets you just sink into its cozy sofas and fill in your senses with the sounds of the ocean. The large living room, with TV and cable, and outstanding ocean views of the waves, just steps away, a waits you.
There are also two large bedrooms and a full bathroom in between the bedrooms. One bedroom has a king-sized bed; the other has 2 twin beds. The twins can be made into another king if needed. The living room has a couch that converts into a larger than a twin bed.
You can hear the ocean from both rooms, with one facing the ocean with a 6 by 6 window taking in the view.
The kitchen is modern and ready for any cook. There is a formal dining room, a laundry room and a large living room with a fireplace. Two patios surround the house giving ample room for sunning and dining. The house has approximately 2,000 square feet.
The color scheme is clearly done in open hues of blues, tans and corals for a fresh ocean cottage look. The house brightens the spirit and the ocean calms the soul. A stay here will be a time you will never forget.
It must be experienced. The price for 2 couples is way less than any 2 hotel rooms in the village and it is closer to the water than any hotel in town. You get a whole house, not just a small bedroom!

Our family has lived in La Jolla since 1947. My husband and I love the area and love to share it will people who also enjoy the ocean and the beauty of the sea life. My family and I had a wonderful time at this charmingly decorated seaside cottage in La Jolla. The home is light, bright and airy and is in beautiful condition, both inside and out. The home is gorgeously situated on a bluff overlooking the local tidal pools and the sea. The pictures you see in the property description are very accurate and will give you a perfect idea of the rooms, views and furnishings. The master bedroom's bed is very cozy and comfortable with soft, expensive linens. The 2nd bedroom is good sized and its twin beds have luxurious linens as well. The kitchen is adorable and is well stocked with utensils, cookware - even the fridge had a few delicious goodies inside waiting for us. The cottage's owner was extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating. She took excellent care of us and couldn't have been nicer. My two children really enjoyed their stay as well - there is so much to see and do in La Jolla. Mommy particularly appreciated being able to cook meals in the kitchen and on the patio's barbecue and it was also super convenient to have a washer and dryer in the home to do laundry when necessary. All in all a beautiful place and a lovely home. We highly recommend it. Thank you, thank you - we're already planning our trip to the house next summer!

The pictures of this property do not give justice to the breathtaking reality of the Pacific Coast at La Jolla. The seals, the birds, the whales playing at the front doorstep only add to the marvelous site you can experience every night as the sun sets off the front porch. I found the cottage to be meticulously cared for and the wonderful gardens a great place to serve dinner and to relax after a three-block walk from the many varied and unique shops in downtown La Jolla. What a great trip. Thanks for the memories.
