Casa Pelicano is one of the the most popular beach house rentals in Santa Teresa's exclusive north end, and for good reason. This 2,500 sq ft, 3-br 3-ba home boasts all the amenities, has an outstanding location, and is an excellent value. There are 2 MBR/ MBA Suites, a chef's kitchen, ample common indoor & outdoor Living and dining spaces, a large terrace and 1/2 acre tropical garden with it's own private swimming pool, just steps to the pristine white sands, warm glassy surf waves and glowing sunsets that make Santa Teresa such a magical place. If the surf is not for you, you can still enjoy long walks at low tide or enjoy your private pool surrounded by lush tropical gardens, or the screened comforts of A/C, wireless internet and satellite TV.
Casa Pelicano was built in 2006 and renovated in 2009, by a well known Costa Rican builder educated at the University of Nebraska, USA. The goal was to bring together casual Costa Rican style living with all of the comforts and safety standards common to North American construction. The results are quite unique in such a remote area as Santa Teresa.
The house is furnished with handmade Costa Rican wicker and bamboo furniture. The master bedroom has a king size, a large bathroom and double sliding glass doors to the terrace. The second bedroom offers a king size bed, walking closet and a private bathroom. The third bedroom has a bunk bed, ample closet space and a bathroom next door. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking with all the necessary utensils. The living room is a very nice place to relax. You can read a book or watch TV in the oversize sofas, one of which is a orthopedic king size sofa-bed.
The house has A/C and ceiling fans in all the bedrooms and kitchen/living room areas. The terrace, overlooking the swimming pool, is the best spot in the house. It is surrounded by beautiful mature tropical gardens, on its own private ½ acre lot with colorful flowers, cactus, almond trees, palms and a grass lawn. There’s an outdoor shower for rinsing off the beach sand.

My Dad was an executive w/Sheraton & Omni hotels, so I grew up in & @ the hospitality business. I first came to CR, in '96 to guide the Pacuare river with Rios Tropicals, while on summer break from grad school.
I quickly fell in love with CR & came back every summer since. In 2000 I moved to CR for a year & began "The Search". In 2002 I was able to transition back to CR full time & purchased this magnificent beachfront parcel in '03 w/the sale of my Aspen property. I am an ex-Aspen, Colorado foreign language teacher, who is actively involved as a volunteer at the local public school. I have dedicated my full time efforts to developing and running a first class beach home rental operation, where people can come and relax, renew and enjoy one of the prettiest beaches in anywhere in the world...Santa Teresa, CR. Mariposa Vacation Homes, is the result of many years of dedicated work to achieve that goal.

We just returned from Casa Pelicano and had a wonderful visit. The house is graciously appointed in a wonderful location, steps away from one of Costa Rica’s best beaches (Santa Teresa) white sands with amazing sunsets and rolling waves. We have a house in Arenal and have traveled around Costa Rica and found this area magical; very much like Hawaii where we lived for a number of years. John was very helpful setting up our accommodations and Monika was a gracious and charming concierge, making our visit very comfortable. Both offered helpful tips on the surrounding area. The house is conveniently located in the Mariposa compound, close to many wonderful restaurants (don’t miss Alma’s) but private enough to enjoy your own version of paradise with beautiful grounds and a private pool and the beach close by. We hope to return and would definitely choose Peliano again. Jackie and Gil

Hi! Our stay for 10 days in this heavenly place was magical, I can't complain about anything and my visit to Costa Rica made me quit my job, quit my girlfriend, moving to Costa Rica in early September. We had an amazing stay at CasaPuravida in Casa Pelicano. The house was a perfect fit for my husband and our two young boys. We swam in the pool daily and loved the short walk to the beach to watch the beautiful sunsets. My husband was in heaven with the consistant waves to surf. Stefan and Nicole were such great hosts. Our stay at Casa Pelicano was more than awesome. My daughter and I both needed a peaceful retreat from very hectic schedules -- and felt like we had a little slice of heaven for seven days :) Everything was a little dry and dusty -- as should be expected during the dry season -- but the accomodations were wonderful, Stefan's helpful suggestions made for wonderful adventures, the caretakers on the premises were always helpful -- we only wished for more days to enjoy the hammocks, the sunsets, the surf, etc. We definitely plan to return with our whole family. Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us.

If you're looking for a great place to stay while in the Santa Teresa/Mal Pais area, we highly recommend this one! The houses are exactly as shown in the online photos and immaculately clean. We quickly made ourselves at home...I loved our mornings sipping coffee on the terrace and doing my pilates within earshot of the ocean waves. The setting of this home is perfect, close to the beach, very close to a supermarket, walking distance from restaurants, but still feels private enough to be a peaceful retreat. Stefan and Nicole also provided great restaurant and activity recommendations, which we really appreciated. We have no complaints about our stay and are currently planning our next trip back!! You will not regret staying here :)

Dear Stefan and Nicole We've stayed in a lot of places in Costa Rica but CasasPuraVida is by far our favorite. We had the opportunity to stay in 3 of the 4 houses on the property. I would highly recommend them all.... The location is perfect! Great surf is at your doorstep, fantastic ethnic restaurants, friendly people, spas,grocery store and much more. A secure and well maintained premises. We were looking for the perfect location and found it! If you're looking for "PURA VIDA" this is the place. Thank you all for accomodating our needs.
