Cherry orchards
Door County has a history of cherry growing that dates back to the 1800s. Soil and weather conditions - warm days and cool nights - influenced by Lake Michigan and Green Bay have created an ideal situation for growing these delicious fruits. Today with around 2,000 acres of cherry orchards and another 500 acres of apple orchards, Door County is filled with blossoms in the spring and is richly decorated with the delicious fruits in the late summer and fall.
Montmorency cherries are usually picked from mid July to early/mid August. Early varieties of apple orchards, such as Paulareds, are harvested as early as late August. Golden Delicious are harvested through mid October.
Cherry and apple stands can be found along many of Door County's country roads in season. Picking your own apples and cherries can be a fun and tasty part of your visit to Door County.

Perfect Family Getaway for all ages!!

This was the perfect get away for our family of 9, Ages 52 to 16 months. There was something for everyone and being just yards from Lake Michigan was a delightful walk 2 to 3 times a day. The pool was one of the biggest features of the home for the older children, however our grandson loved the playroom downstairs and I loved the kitchen.

We have been renting summer cottages for 15 years and this is the best!! We had a great week with the family up north at this fantastic property. Had a teenager, a twenty five year old, a thirty year old and a couple parents of undisclosed ages. Point is, that no matter what age you are there is plenty of things to do and everyone had a great time. Property is clean, well maintained, spacious, well appointed (including plenty of thing for young kids) and perfectly situated. The fire pit was great and firewood is supplied. Whether we were at the house or took the 5 minute drive into Jacksonport, we all had a fun and relaxing week. Don't over look the small things that make is a special location. Owners were a pleasure to deal with. Already looking for dates for next summer.

You have a beautiful home and we appreciate you allowing us to spend our 25th year of October weekends there. The home was so roomy, open, and comfortable that several members of our party want to break our tradition and make reservations with you again. Two people in our group are architects and they were very impressed and we all agreed that the pictures in VRBO do not do justice to your home. We had a great time and thank you again for allowing us to stay in your vacation home.
