Our Le Colombier**** (the House of Doves) has an official 4 star rating by the local tourist office. You can rent it for 2 or 4 persons. It is without any doubt one of the finest places you could rent in Alsace.
Alsace means romance and discovery in any season! As you know it, Alsace is in eastern France on the Rhine River border with Germany. It is unquestionably spectacularly beautiful. A very special combination of history, culture, scenery, and especially food and wine makes it one of the most delightful places to visit in all of Europe. Riquewihr is the jewel in the crown and looks today exactly as it did in the 16th Century. Riquewihr is also a very practical base to visit all Alsace, the Vosges mountains and even nearby Germany and Switzerland.

This is a rare opportunity. Riquewihr is for sure one of the most beautiful villages in France. Riquewihr, a colourful village out of a fairy tale, hides in a small valley at the foot of the Vosges mountains, on the wine trail of Alsace, hardly a dozen kilometres from Colmar. In Riquewihr you are in the middle of this so picturesque Alsace of the picture books.
Since centuries, Riquewihr produces some of the most beautiful wines of Alsace and the world. A nature superbly made up of vineyards and wooded mountains is protecting this exceptional jewel which is Riquewihr, incontestably the pearl of the Alsatian vineyard and one of the most visited and most beautiful villages in France.
Our romantic half-timbered house was built on the rampart of the year 1500. Registered with the inventory of the French national Heritage buildings, the first apartment (Le Colombier) just came out of a full restoration and welcomed the first guests on DEC 7, 2006. A real jewel appeared, which we wanted to be the alchemy of the Alsatian tradition and modern comfort. This is indeed one of the finest places to stay in Alsace and we would be delighted to welcome you here.
On the mountainside, the medieval rampart builds the western wall of the house. On the street side, it is an Alsatian traditional timber framed house. The house is decorated with great care and especially equipped for couples which seek holidays or a long weekend on the wine trail of Alsace.
All bedrooms are equiped with double beds (160 x 200 cm) and private bathroom.
The restoration largely made use of the traditional techniques as well as healthy materials (no chemicals, natural paintings with lime wash). Authentic polychrome pieces of furniture and fabrics in Alsatian kelsch contribute to make our apartments real jewels. The house combines charm and comfort and is able to allure - Summer as Winter - those which appreciate and privilege before all the refined and authentic places.
A fully equipped kitchen makes it possible to be perfectly autonomous. But do not forget that the many ones and excellent restaurants of the village (some listed in the Michelin Red Guide) are only a couple of yards away.

We know that every traveller has to plan a budget and we also know that the exchange rate of the US dollar vs Euro is unbalanced and can make things more difficult for tourists wanting to travel to Europe. Do not hesitate to analyze everything, not only rates. We are proud to offer our guests, not only a roof, a bed and a chair, but much more than that. We think that - especially for a rather long stay (most of our guests are staying 7 nights and +) - it is not enough to survive during the night but it is necessary to enjoy the stay in a place which is somehow of the same level as the historical surroundings, the landscape, the mountain and the vineyards: beautiful. A place where you will like to have a rest and enjoy some time, not only a place for sleeping. We cared for the health of our guests, using only organic products. We paid respect to the history of the place and the local traditions. All furniture are genuine antiques. And finally, we added all the modern touch and comfort: quality and natural materials, air conditioning, satellite TV, free internet, ice making machine, expresso coffee maker, etc.
Le Colombier**** house offers a great value for money for 4 people travelling together and sharing. For 2 people travelling we have 2 other apartments next door: a beautiful duplex (See VRBO property #181770) and a lovely studio (budget accommodation but high standard). This choice of 3 apartments makes a comfortable stay in Alsace affordable for almost anyone! Finally, for a very reasonable tariff (even with a low US Dollar), you will have a superbly arranged accommodation within a historical framework of great character. In short, a very top-of-the-range accommodation worthy of the best establishments.
Rmk: high season in Riquewihr is from Easter to Nov 11 and again from Nov 27 to January 5 for the Christmas celebrations.
