Chikarooba: a 150+ Acre Retreat & Recreational Mtn. Paradise

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Fairplay

After looking at hundreds of properties in both Summit Park County areas, we ran across this unique setting and fell in love. South Park is in the center of it all, has easy access, a more moderate climate than ski towns (even though it’s higher), and is less crowded. Fairplay is a quaint town with all the amenities need for a getaway, while keeping the rustic mountain town feel. The surrounding mountain views are breathtaking, and the area truly feels like this is what Colorado was meant to be.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Chikarooba is unique for several reasons. The property and land is very usable, and has hours of hiking right on the property. The location is secluded, yet very close to town and amenities. It’s an easy jaunt to skiing, fishing, four wheeling, forest trails, hot springs, and much more. The property is easily accessible year round, and has plowing guaranteed. The home is updated, well laid out and comfortable. What we (and guests) enjoy most about the property is the comfort and design of the home, the spaciousness of the usable land, the ease of access to everything, volleyball court, hiking, and of course the award winning two 18-hole “Extreme Mountain Croquet Golf Courses” on the land. In the winter it turns into a wonderland for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and warming up by the fire after a great day of downhill at Breckenridge (without the high costs).

Owner's Map of Fairplay

Chikarooba is owned by two families from Colorado Springs. Both of our families have children, ranging from 6 years old to 21 years old. We were looking for a second home, and retreat style location to be able to host small groups and build family legacies. Our families spend countless hours of fun and quality time with friends and family here doing just that…building memories and relationships that will last forever.

Great Place

This is a great place, relaxing, peaceful and secluded. However, it has all the amenities and comforts of home one might want or need. We've stayed at Chikarooba multiple times and plan to stay there many more times! We've gone in every season and they are all great! Its a great place to go with a couple other couples/families.

July 27-31, 2011

Our group of 13 (7 adults, 6 kids) enjoyed staying at Chikarooba so much. It's in a great location with lots to do for kids and adults. The end of July is especially recommended because of the Burro Days festival in Fairplay. The cabin has lots of different spaces where groups of different sizes can gather (such as the kitchen table area, living room, and rec room for starters). The kids loved the bunk bed rooms. The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked. And there are 2 world-class croquet golf courses just steps away. Overall, thumbs up!

Chikarooba in Fairplay CO is awesome!

We visited Chikarooba for Easter Weekend 2011 and really enjoyed all of the things to do on site such as the games and hot tub and wonderful woods behind the home. The kitchen was completely stocked and ready for us to prepare meals all weekend long. We also used the adjacent cabin which was wonderful and easily accessible through the woods so we could use the hot tub! What a great weekend and we will definitely come again!

Great place to stay for beautiful, calm atmosphere with luxury at your fingertips! We were there for a wedding in Alma and it was the perfect retreat. We are so excited about how comfortable the place was, and how roomy, that we're planning to go back for a Thanksgiving weekend! The kitchen is great!

Thank you very much again for letting us enjoy your beautiful mountain home. We had a wonderful time and felt truly like a home away from home. The location and views were great and we did visit the snow sculpture festival in Breckendridge which was close by. We'll definitely be back in the future.

Thanks a million for letting us stay at your amazing cabin! Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. We couldn't have asked for a better place.
