Our group of 13 (7 adults, 6 kids) enjoyed staying at Chikarooba so much. It's in a great location with lots to do for kids and adults. The end of July is especially recommended because of the Burro Days festival in Fairplay. The cabin has lots of different spaces where groups of different sizes can gather (such as the kitchen table area, living room, and rec room for starters). The kids loved the bunk bed rooms. The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked. And there are 2 world-class croquet golf courses just steps away. Overall, thumbs up!

This is a great place, relaxing, peaceful and secluded. However, it has all the amenities and comforts of home one might want or need. We've stayed at Chikarooba multiple times and plan to stay there many more times! We've gone in every season and they are all great! Its a great place to go with a couple other couples/families.

We visited Chikarooba for Easter Weekend 2011 and really enjoyed all of the things to do on site such as the games and hot tub and wonderful woods behind the home. The kitchen was completely stocked and ready for us to prepare meals all weekend long. We also used the adjacent cabin which was wonderful and easily accessible through the woods so we could use the hot tub! What a great weekend and we will definitely come again!

Great place to stay for beautiful, calm atmosphere with luxury at your fingertips! We were there for a wedding in Alma and it was the perfect retreat. We are so excited about how comfortable the place was, and how roomy, that we're planning to go back for a Thanksgiving weekend! The kitchen is great!

What a great place. I like that your hidden off the beaten path, but minutes from town. Short distance from trails and hikes. The place is in great shape, clean, with a great patio, and lots of R&R. Great place to be, highly recomened!!!!
Owner response:Thanks so much! Glad you had a great time. Darin

Thank you very much again for letting us enjoy your beautiful mountain home. We had a wonderful time and felt truly like a home away from home. The location and views were great and we did visit the snow sculpture festival in Breckendridge which was close by. We'll definitely be back in the future.

Thanks a million for letting us stay at your amazing cabin! Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. We couldn't have asked for a better place.

From the gustbook: "THE FRIENDS REUNION"...6 years ago our dear friends moved to the East Coast. For the past year we had been planning the "friends reunion". Chikarooba (or the recreational compound as we called it) allowed that dream to become a reality. We hiked, ate, played games and ate, but most of all we laughed and hugged and counted our blessings to have such wonderful friends to love. A million thank yous!"

I (Darin) saw these two in Alma, drenched from a bikepacking ride, and still looking like they had a way to go before nightfall. I invited them to the cabin for a free night: From the guestbook: "Thank you for saving us from a cold wet bike ride. The cabin is wonderful. So welcoming. Off to finish the last 2200 miles to VA!" - Janice Mentzer My sister and I spent one night at the cabin but it was a good night. We are on our way across the way by bicycle (Astoria, OR to Yorktown, VA on the TransAmerican Trail). Thanks again Darin and Julie, we appreciate a dry warm and friendly place to stay!" - Jeff Mentzer

Chikarooba is delightful! We had the most wonderful family getaway there. The layout of the home and the fun activities outdoors make it perfect for family fun and fellowship. They have done a great job decorating and providing high quality bedding and towels. The kitchen is beautiful and has everything you need. The location is private yet, easy to find. We were so happy to find that Chikarooba was even nicer than the website described. It is a place we will add to our favorites and return to,
Owner response:According to the guests, Bob on his birthday shot an amazing 21 under par on the mountain croquet course. Still waiting for it to be officially be confirmed by sattelite recorded photos - will update later.
