Quilt retreat

We had a group of 12 quilters with sewing machines, fabric and all the stuff that goes with 12 women to a retreat. We had enough room and it was very comfortable. The only draw back were one of the eyes on the stove did not work and we cooked all our meals there so it was a bit of a pain.If anyone in the group is a smoker be aware you can't smoke outside on the property, you have to go out to the street or down the sidewalk.I look forward to renting again.Deposit was refunded quickly.
Owner response:The stove has been replaced since this writing with a brand new shiney stove!

Pros: The house was comfortable and fairly well-stocked. Owner was responsive to email/phone messages. Security deposit was returned quickly. The microwave, washer, dryer, dishwasher are in great condition. Property was clean. A list of restaurants is provided but if the phone numbers & addresses were included it would even better. Cons: I was irritated that even though we paid a cleaning fee - we were still asked to wash towels and wipe the showers. There were also rules about the garbage/recycle. I'd ask for a copy of the rules before you commit. The grill does not work, the internal parts are rusted away. The stovetop has some burners that work on low & high heat but don't work well on the mid-heat range. Overall, taking all of the above into consideration, I would recommend this property.
Owner response:I ask guests to do one load of towels, then pop them in the dryer. This is due to the fact that I sometimes I have a party of 12 folks & there is a lot of laundry with 8 sets of bed linens and the large amount of towels, and at times guests use the nice terry robes I provide. This creates a lot of landry to get done in a short time so guests can have reasonable check-in times & generous check-out times. In response to the shower 'wiping', I only ask that the last person out of the shower for the day squeegy the doors- this is not a requirement, just a consideration to keep lime away. I am a big recycler & it is my hope that people will do the same. The curbside recyclers are very picky, so I elaborate on their requirements. Also, they do not take glass. Not sure what else to say about this- again no requirement here, but if the recycling container has garbage in it, they simply will not pick it up & this causes problems for the next guest. As for the BBQ, I have paid my maintenance guy 100.00 each on two occasions in the last few months to repair & clean the grill (a 3 yr old Weber that does not get along with salt air), in fact the last time was just a few weeks ago. I guess I should get a refund :O). This is the first I am hearing of the stove having these issues (I do not cook when I am there). This will be replaced.

Astoria, Seaside and Gearhart are our favorite North Coast destinations. The home was icing on the cake! Everything we needed was available, from linens to cooking. Even robes in the closets. Our two teenage girls enjoyed having their own space upstairs. Decorating made us feel right at home with fun little touches, like the old medicine cabinet on the wall in the master bedroom. Very pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the bed and linens :) Loved being able to pull into the garage to load and unload out of the rain. This was our first time renting through VRBO. We'll be back! Thank you Char.

We've rented this property four times now. It's great for sleeping space and more. It has served as a meeting place for extended family, as my wife's parents live in an assisted living environment in Astoria. We can have family dinners during holidays, and there's plenty of room to stretch out and visit. Convenient to Astoria and to the south, Seaside and Cannon Beach. Clean and comfortable. We'll no doubt gather again at this cozy home.

We go out to the coast several times a year with our extended family and this house was exactly what we needed. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax anad it was nice how the kitchen/dining room was open to the main living area so even if you were cooking you still felt like you were part of the group! Plus the whole house was very clean and well-decorated, you feel more like you're in a friends house than in a rental! And the house is centrally located for many great day trips! We can't wait to come back!

This was our second time at this rental home. It is so comfortable and cozy. We love the big table for meals. It's hard to find such a nice home with lots of comfy beds. This one fits the bill...plus it's decorated so nicely. We plan to come back every year!!! Thanks Char!

A beautifully comfortable home. Decorated very nicely. Perfect family location. We all loved the home. I did not get that "I can't wait to go home" feeling when I left. I just kept thinking I can't wait to go back. I fully packed my car to stay in a vacation home to find out it was fully accomodated for a perfect family vacation. Everything worked out perfect and I enjoyed doing business with the owner. I am definitely going to schedule a week there very soon. We loved it.

We immediately felt warm and comfortable when entering this house. With such a well stocked kitchen we could choose to cook or go out - great to have the flexibility. I was charmed at how nicely everything was decorated, very unusual to find such attention to even the smallest detail. Everything was clean, well organized and delightful. We left feeling relaxed and ready to face the holiday joy. We will be back!

We found this home quite lovely. The beds were extremely comfortable & linens were really nice. The furnishings were all very nice & we found very comfortable. The kitchen was really well stocked with extra silverware & lots of pans & bowls for serving. It would have been great to fully enjoy the deck in the summer season. It would be fabulous in better weather! The location we found really central to exploring both Astoria & south to Seaside & even north to Washington. We enjoyed exploring Astoria, Fort Stevens, Hammond, Seaside & lighthouses in the area. We have recommended this home to many of our friends & family. We would definitely come back.
