This is a great house for a family to stay at. My boys 2 and 3 years old loved it! It has everything you need TV's in the rooms, 2 bathrooms, fully equiped kitchen etc. We will definatley be bringing our family back to stay again!

There were 5 of us ladies that stayed in the cabin the 1st week of June. The cabin has so much personality and is the decorations so cute. The description and the photos look exactly like the Cabin. The mornings were great sitting on the back porch drinking coffee watching the hummingbirds and deer outside. The evening were great out there too!!! This cabin has everything you could possibly need to have a great vacation. Its very clean!!! Thanks so much to the owner for sharing this vacation cabin with us. I would highly recommend to anyone. One place we ate that we thought was good was the restaurant at the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino....Great Chicken Fried Steak. Thanks again, John.

everything we had hoped for. Our 30th wedding anniversay could not have been more perfect. The owner was so good to work with and the local people who care for the cabin met our every need when we called. The privacy and still being close to town was a great combination. Our family of 4 had a great time. The view from the back deck was beautiful and the cabin was homey. The cabins location is perfect.. Up in upper canyon and close to town. All beds were comfortable and decor was perfect. Had a great time and will rent again.

High Mountian Forest

The cabin is close to town. Behind the cabin it nothing but pine and fur forest. The view from the back porch is unspoiled. We found everything in the cabin to be as expected. We were two cuples and the cabin was perfect size. We cooked and used the gas grill. I sure that we will return and rent this cabin again.

We enjoyed the very clean and well-equipped cabin. The host, John, provided very detailed instructions - the wind caused the power to go out while we were there and we knew exactly who to call. Our only regret is not following his restaurant recommendations.

To start, John was an absolute joy to deal with. So helpful and just easy, started out trip of with ease. The home itself exceeded our expectations which is not easy to do :) It was in a wonderful location, appointed with all things we might have needed ( and more) and just so comfortable and beautifully furnished. The surroundings were alive with wildlife and we enjoyed watching herds of deer from the fantastic porch. Without question we would stay here again. Honeymoon in Ruidoso

We had a wonderful time at the cabin! It was so nice, comfortable and clean. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, plenty of channels on the t.v., board games and a nice hot tub on the back deck with a beautiful view. Since it's at the end of the road, it felt very private and it was nice and quiet. It was also a very short drive into town. We loved it!

This is absolutely the best cabin in Ruidoso! I think this cabin was cleaner than my house and so beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook dinner each night. The loft made the cabin have such an open feeling. The cabin is at the end of the road, so there was no traffic and it's on a large lot with plenty of room to explore! We had 4 adults and 2 kids...perfect size. Each morning we were visited by so much wildlife! My kids couldn't wait to wake up and look out the window to see what was waiting for us! The view from the deck was spectacular, especially at night...so many stars! We can't wait to return!

John, We had a wonderful stay at Dances with Bears. We saw countless Mule Deer a Bull Elk and so many Turkey we lost count. Your cabin was everything we had hoped for. The cabin is very well furnished, very inviting and comforable. Access to Ruidoso and Ski Apache is super close and easy yet we felt secluded while at the cabin, unlike the cabins lower in the canyon. After a hard day on the mountain we would slip into the hot tub and watch the sun set and the beautiful view with all the wildlife. You have without question one of the best views available in the area. The entire process of renting your cabin was painless and simple. I was very pleased and somewhat surprised at the speed at which you cantacted me about the return of our deposit. We will be back and will be telling our friends about our experience at Dances with Bears.

Dances with Bears Cabin was designed with comfort in mind. The cabin was beautifully decorated for the holiday season -- lots of special touches. The location was at the end of the road where the forest and wildlife beckoned, yet 5 minutes from downtown. Wonderful vacation spot in winter, can't wait to go back in the summer. I do recommend chains for the road when it snows. Accommodations were superb. Love the hot tub!

This cabin was very nice, and a great place to stay in Ruidoso. The snow was wonderful (we got about a foot while we were there), and made for a white Christmas for our kids. We saw many wild turkeys and deer all around the cabin. Getting around Ruidoso from the cabin was very easy. I would recommend the Dances with Bears cabin for anyone wishing to have a wonderful vacation experience in Ruidoso.

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the week in Dances With Bears. The weather was virtually perfect after the first night.We got acquainted with some of your neighbors, all of whom are delightful.There was certainly plenty of wildlife to entertain the kids. I don’t how many times we saw the same young buck with a doe and two fawns; seemed like a daily occurrence.In any event we had a great week and are grateful to you for opening up your home to vacationers.

This was our first time to stay at this “cabin.” Upon arrival we (which included my wife, our two grown daughters, and the oldest girl’s fiancé) were pleased to see a clean, very well designed and functional place. It was small, without being too small, and large, without being too large. I even loved the electronic front door lock that allowed me to never have to ask, “Where is the key?” The furnishings are very well done and the kitchen had everything you would need.As with most that have stayed here, the back deck was our favorite spot. The outdoor furniture was extremely comfortable and all of our group could just sit and rock there for hours. The view is great with nothing to block the horizon and everyday we were treated to numerous dear, young and old, walking in the distance.John was a great “remote” host and was very easy to work with. Our group will definitely come again. Hopefully that will be next year after the youngest daughter’s husband returns from his second tour in Iraq and is discharged form the military. I think he will love the spot as a place to help him “unwind.”

Despite a few unseasonably warm days in Ruidoso, we loved our stay at this cabin. John bent over backwards making us comfortable by bringing in extra coolers and checking on us. In the past, we've rented a few doozies for our vacations, and as a result, we've gotten pretty picky. So believe me when I say that this cabin is clean, well-stocked, tastefully decorated and a view off the deck that is to die for. The website images are completely accurate. We had a wonderful family gathering of 4 adults and two children and there was ample space for everyone. It has everything you need if you're looking for that quintessential cozy mountain cabin experience.

If you are looking for peace and serenity, this is the place to be. Enjoy the beauty of nature in the mountains with all the comforts of home and more. The cabin was spacious, welcoming and definitely a feel of being in heaven or close to it. With kids, it sure beats the hotel, with lots of room and games to entertain the kids. It was home away from home with a more country setting. We loved it. Even though the evenings were chilly it was worth getting in the hot tub and sipping on our favorite glass of wine and enjoying the view. The only thing that I would suggest adding to the cabin would be a TV in the third bedroom.

My wife and I were looking for a quiet getaway, but we also had three highschool girls!! The house was perfect! We enjoyed quiet nights by the fire and hot tub, days cooking on the huge deck with stunning views!! The girls enjoyed all that the town had to offer. The layout of the cabin is perfect for kids up (2 bedrooms and gameroom up and adults down) The Dances with Bears cabin is an end of the road property backing to the National Forest. The views will always be there. Upon arriving the house was EXACTLY as the owner said it would be. Everything was clean, fresh and in place. Wood IN the fireplace. Kitchen fully stocked with all items needed, grill and hot tub ready to go the moment you arrive. Easy instructions to leave and my deposit was return immediately upon the maids report of the home. We spent 5 nights at Dances With Bears Cabin. It was FABULOUS! When we first walked in, I could not believe how CLEAN the cabin was. I would not have done a better job myself. Plenty of clean towels and blankets are also provided. Not only is the cabin absolutely beautiful but it's also located in a beautiful setting and close to town. There wasn't any snow when we visited but the scenery is so spectacular it didn't seem to matter. We were still able to ski at Ski Apache and enjoy tubing at the Winter Park. I highly reccomend Dances with Bears Cabin!!! I would certainly visit again!!!

This is our second year staying in this cabin and we all consider this our home away from home.Everything could not be more perfect.The kitchen has everything you need,minus food,the fireplace that we use every evening-a hot tub that fits all 6 of us.You can rest your head back and look directly up at the stars.A beautiful view from the balcony without any other homes blocking it. What a wonderful white Christmas we had at your cabin! The house was so beautiful and comfortable. We saw dear and wild turkeys wondering around the cabin. I rented this cabin as a birthday present to my mom and we had a MARVELOUS time!! We saw deer every morning and 8 of them came up to the proch on the last day we were there. It was perfect weather and the view was so beautiful. My mom, my aunts and I can't wait to make it a girl's weekend again. We just hope next time we'll win more money at the Inn of the Mountain Gods!

My Family recently stayed at the Dances with Bears Cabin. There were seven of us including grandparents, grown children and grandchildren. We were delighted with the accomodations and were very comfortable. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The owner was very helpful through the entire process. My husband and I enjoyed many aspects of this fabulous log cabin - the setting, the privacy, the hot tub for star gazing, the beautifully structured achitecture, plenty of games, the deck for proximity to wildlife, generous amentities, and tasteful mountain/rustic decor'. The privacy was a surprise benefit, especially given the location just minutes from the heart of Ruidoso. We put out sunflower seeds to feed the birds and were delighted to see almost-immediate, and intense, activity - chickadees, nuthatches, and briefly, a couple woodpeckers. This cabin provided a great get-away - easily accessible, comfortable inside and out.
