Howard's End is a beautiful, newly constructed, 1000-square-foot cabin with very comfy furnishings, a great kitchen with large open living/dining areas. An upstairs loft can sleep four, the downstairs bedroom sleeps two, and there is a pull-out sofabed in the living room. It is great for a family, or for a couple enjoying peace and quiet. You will love the back deck and the front porch any time of the day!
This beautiful cabin rests on one acre of land, and is nestled by tall Ponderosa pines and aspens. Enjoy the sound of tranquil Cherry Creek running through the back yard. Abundant wildlife on this no-hunting mountain. In spring and summer everything is green and in fall it is a golden wonderland. In winter light a fire and snuggle in, or head for Monarch Ski area to ski or go for a midnight snow shoe during a full moon.
Howard's End is just 11 miles from beautiful and historic Salida at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range. You can enjoy live theatre, great dining, friendly pubs, shopping, hot springs pools, winery, live music in the park, and holiday parades! In the winter, enjoy the scenic 40-minute drive to Monarch Ski Area for skiing (downhill and cross country), snow shoeing, and snowmobiling. In the warmer months, enjoy all that the Arkansas River has to offer - fishing, rafting, kayaking, and more! Bring your bikes, boots, skis, camera, or just a great book. This is a stress-free playground where you can enjoy the sounds of silence!

Why the Owner Chose Salida
When we were looking to buy a vacation getaway, we decided we wanted activities available all year round. One of us likes to ski, the other, not so much, so being in a resort ski town was not what we were looking for. We are able to enjoy our cabin all year round with exciting activities for all four seasons. Living in Denver, it was also extremely important to us that we have a choice of highway to get to our cabin and not having it accessible via the over-crowded and often backed up I-70. We get to enjoy beautiful mountain vistas, river valley, wide open spaces and virtually no traffic whichever way we choose to get to the cabin.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The peacefulness of the cabin is truly it's most noticeable feature. The wind in the ponderosa pine trees sounds like ocean waves. The smell of the fresh mountain air is amazing. We're on a first name basis with the deer that come to visit. It's relaxing and beautiful. But, when we want to be in town to enjoy one of the many fantastic restaurants or watering holes, we are a short 15-minute drive through the beautiful river valley.

We loved this place!!! We recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice, quiet place to get away and relax. With the directions from owner, it was easy to find. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay! They told us we would see wildlife and we did! Turkey,deer,and bear!!! Just turn on the light at night before going outside! We would go back!

Mandi and Bill are awesome...and yet i barely know them. I did, however, get such a great impression from their cabin and their hospitality that I'd rent from them any chance I get. The cabin is wonderful--it's nicer than my home and stocked with techie gadgets, wine, compasses, movies, cds, dvds--and the location features everything people love about Colorado...and more. What more? The mountain offers lush greenery and beautiful spruce that you don't find all over the often very dry state. My wife, our dog and I can't wait to go back. And if you wake up hungry, drive the fifteen minutes into town for a meal at the Patio Pancake place. I had the best Belgium Waffle ever in the history of breakfast. Salida's a neat place to hang out as well. But when your done with a days hiking, fishing, drinking, eating...kick back at Howard's End. What a way to end the day. thanks guys!

... thank you for letting us visit your great spot in the mountains. What a fantastic place, great location, and the perfect size. You are so organized, Jill and I were very impressed. We had a fantastic time, although some of the deer were awfully curious while we were playing horseshoes in the back. They aren't timid, that's for sure.

What a beautiful retreat! For two non-campers, hikers and boaters, we couldn't believe what a great time we had. Peaceful, serene, cosy and warm. The beautiful deer that walk by the door are a bonus. Great for walking trails, relaxing, reading, and antiquing in Salida. Check it out!
