Situated right on one of Costa Rica's most beautiful beaches, The Flying Scorpion offers a chance to truly get away from the hustle of daily life. Breathtaking views of unspoiled beaches and lazy days reading in one of our hammocks provides the perfect setting for a relaxing vacation get-away.
The property includes five cabinas, second floor studio apartment, a fully stocked bar and restaurant with a wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean and a wildlife-filled estuary. Each room boasts 600 thread count sheets on brand new teak beds, luxurious Charter Club towels, private bath with hot water, new oscillating ceiling fans, and all-natural locally made soaps.
We also have two local homes that are available for rent as well. Our charming two story beach house can accomodate 4-8 persons, depending on your chosen layout. It has one large bedroom on the second floor with private bath, with a living room, dining room, kitchen and bath on the first floor. The beach house is just 30 meters from the hotel and just steps to the beach. Our modern "sunset house" has the best view of the sunset one could hope for. Perched on top of the mountain behind the hotel, its just a 5 minute ride down to the beach. The sunset house can accomodate 4 persons in style, with air conditioning, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, an outdoor shower with the same incredible view, and an open air rancho with hammocks, dining area, and full kitchen.
Start each day with a complete breakfast that is included with your room. Our restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner, offering fine international and local cuisine for very reasonable prices. Enjoy eclectic music choices (we have over 40,000 mp3's) with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, or watch a movie (or the game) on our 42 inch plasma TV.
Either way, our open air bar and restaurant is a soothing place for fine dining and top shelf drinks. We make all our bread and pasta right here, bringing you the freshest taste possible with every dish. Save some room for dessert as well and enjoy one of our flavors of ice cream made right here in our kitchen.
The weather here is wonderful year round, with average daytime temperatures in the 80's. The afternoon prevailing breezes from the ocean keep the days warm but comfortable. There are many outdoor activities such as jungle hiking, long beach walks, world-class surfing, guided waterfall tours, horseback riding, incredible fishing on or off-shore, sunset happy hour, or ATV tours.
On a weekly basis, we have arranged for Dr. Cruz Chen to offer accupuncture, chiropractic therapy, and curative massage in the privacy of your own room. Dr. Chen is fully licensed and was educated in Taiwan as well as Costa Rica. Just one visit with the doctor will revitalize you in ways beyond description.
Local entomologist Mike Malliet just opened his outdoor Jungle Butterfly Farm nearby and offers guided tours with a wealth of knowledge of local butterflies, insects, and wildlife.
