This grand hacienda is on a very private 3-acre estate located at the end of the road along the Rio Grande Bosque Nature Preserve in the village of Corrales. Situated amidst the ancient Cottonwood trees in a park like setting, the property is within walking distance to shops and restaurants in the charming, historic village of Corrales.
Outside the gate you can walk or bike for miles along the ancient irrigation ditch paths with majestic views of the Sandia Mountains, and meander through the magical woods of the Bosque to the shores of the Rio Grande. Located along a western migration route for water birds, the Rio Grande valley seasonally fills with cranes, herons, and countless flocks of ducks and geese. During the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta you will see dozens of colorful balloons drifting by overhead, often flying low enough for you to say hello to the pilots.
Built with double thick adobe walls, this 5800 square foot home has all of the charm characteristic of southwestern adobe architecture, with carved beams, wood ceilings, brick floors, curved walls and arched doorways. There are 3 very private bedroom retreats, two additional bedrooms (one is a loft), and sofas for sleeping in the living room and den. The lovely master bedroom suite has 2 rooms, a king size bed, sleeper sofa, kiva fireplace, and a large bath with Jacuzzi tub. In addition, there are two bedrooms with queen beds, one with a king, and a loft bedroom with a queen bed.
There is a pool table and entertainment center with cable TV in the den. The living room has a large kiva fireplace and windows looking out over the pool and the Cottonwoods. There is wireless Internet service throughout the house. The fully equipped kitchen has a big center island, cherry cabinets, and is equipped with everything necessary to cook a gourmet meal. Outside there are two separate patios, both with lovely gardens, barbecue grills, and furnished for outdoor dining.
There are bicycles available, and horse rentals nearby. Corrales has many choices for fine dining, fabulous Village Pizza, a lovely day spa, farmer's markets, horses, farmland and wildlife. There are dirt roads, no traffic lights, and the essence of a time gone by pervades the senses. Remarkably this peaceful sanctuary is only 10 minutes from Albuquerque, 10 minutes from the Cottonwood mall, 15 minutes from Balloon Fiesta Park, and 25 minutes to downtown, the Old Town plaza, fabulous art and history museums, the Rio Grande Zoo, Biopark and Aquarium.
A short drive to the Sandia Tramway will take you to the top of Sandia Mountain for hiking and skiing. There are nearby wineries, fine art galleries, museums and Indian pueblos. Sandia Casino is 15 minutes away and has a fine venue for concerts and a world-class spa and restaurant. Tamaya Resort and Day Spa on the Santa Ana Indian reservation is also close by.
