Nicely updated 2 bedroom condo in older complex, ocean front with great lanai to watch the whales, dolphins and the ocean! Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds. Has a nice pool area, however, the pool was a bit too cool in temperature. Grocery stores very close, as are other amenities. Would stay here again.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This condo was the perfect stay for us. We loved hearing the surf all night and being away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts. Great location-just a short drive to snorkeling areas, resturants or shopping. Farmers market and groceries right down the street. We ate most of our meals on the lani watching the sunset or the sea turtles. We hope to return next year. Mahalo- Paula and Joel.

This condo was everything promised and more, nicely maintained. Truly amazing view. Literally steps from the ocean. We enjoyed having breakfast on the lanai while watching wales playing. The condo is close to Lahaina and a short driving distance from many popular attractions.

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay in you condo. My husband and I with our four teenage children stayed June 9-16, 2010. Your condo was the perfect location for us ,and yes it really is about 12 feet from the water. The grounds were very pretty, quite and relaxing. Not much beach out front but plenty of room to build great sand castles when the tide goes out. We checked out several snorkeling spots on Maui but had great luck seeing many fish right out front of the condo. The condo is just a short driving distance lots of fun things to do. For anyone who wants a great place to stay we would definately recommend Maui Sands condo 4E. Mahalo, The Bornhop Family

This review is a little late, but nonetheless, I feel I should post it! Earlier this year, we found a different condo to rent at the Maui Sands (not Laura's), right on the water. When we arrived there we were a little disappointed with the decor and cleanliness of the suite, but were thrilled with the location and views, as well as the property and grounds. We walked around, and did some more VRBO searches online. To our surprise, we found Laura's ad for the above condo and I contacted her immediately to see if there was any chance on viewing it. We arranged a viewing, and to my GREAT SURPRISE Laura's suite was BEAUTIFUL!!! How disappointed was I that I didn't find her condo instead of the one we had actually rented. The pictures don't do the condo service; it really is quite stunning from the inside. The condo complex itself is older, but if you prefer a quieter surrounding, beautiful grounds, and the perfect waterfront setting, this condo is perfect! I only hope that when we come back to the area, I'll be able to book with Laura's condo. Thanks again for letting us inside. I apologize for not writing sooner, but I'm sending some friends to look at your website at VRBO, and thought the least I could do is let you know how nice your place was! THanks

This is an unbelievably perfect place. The combination of the suite itself, the beach below the lanai, the shops in the neighborhood and the general lazy ambience - it's perfect. We moved in easily-quick trips to the ABC down the road, or a teany bit farther walk to the farmer's market accross from the park - even the full size Times market is a short walk. Some advice to future guests 1- buy 4 liters of POG at the ABC and save your receipts so you can cash them in on mugs and suuvenirs when you leave. 2-Better to rent a snokel kit from Boss frogs accross the street. Only $9. 3-We took the Four Winds II from Maalaea to Molokini and it was exactly fabulous and pretty reasonable prices. 4-Buy corn Tamales from the Latin deli next to the farmers market. 5-Beware of overpriced beans at BassAssCoffee 6-Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina is awesome 7-And last - probably the best days you'll spend here will be spent right here on this beach-snorkel the second reef-it's great Vancover BC

Over the past few years, my girlfriend and I have visited Maui once or twice a year. We came across this unit, and all I can say is that it is simply amazing. The views are spectacular. You literally can't get any closer to the ocean. Everything about our stay was positive and enjoyable. It is reminiscent of old Hawaii with all of the modern upgrades that one could want. It has a great lanai to watch the sunset from, and watch the whales when you come in season. We've done the whole commercialized experience, but staying at this unit was a breath of fresh air. Everything about the unit was nice, from the furniture, to the decorations, to the kitchen. Not having to go out every single night was definitely a treat to be able to relax and listen to the waves outside. I would definitely recommend this unit to anybody, and will definitely come back. I feel much more relaxed after my trip than after my previous commercialized Kaanapali beach hotels. Thank you again for the beautiful accommodations.

We lover our time once again at the MAui Sands and it was wonderful staing in 4E for 2 great weeks. We had perfect weather - saw many turtles right out front-and of course enjoyed the sunsets. We stayed for a month and we're surprised at the poor condition of the condo. The property is not well maintained. Be careful, the pictures & description do not accurately reflect conditions in the suite.

Owner response:Unfortunately, this guest did experience a problem with the dishwasher during the stay. Immediately, upon notification of the problem, we dispatched a local repairman to the unit and repair was made. We do provide an onsite contact for immediate response to unexpected problems, and was utilized by this guest. Although no other complaints were voiced during their stay, a discount of the rental charged was given as compensation for the inconvenience. The photos and video are all taken on site and accurately depict the amenities and offerings available at the unit. We strive to maintain this beautiful condo in top condition and use our onsite representative for regular inspections. We use a professional cleaning crew before each guest arrives, while the homeowners association professionally maintains the grounds. A review of other guests comments will confirm that this condo is among the finest in west Maui. Aloha.

Aloha Laura! We just returned from Maui a few weeks ago, and we are still in mourning! We miss your beautiful condo at the Maui Sands. We loved the sound of the ocean while we were falling asleep, and we enjoyed our morning walks along the reef. We have stayed in Maui before, and your condo is in an ideal location. We will definitely stay there again (hopefully real soon). You have stocked your kitchen perfectly, and you have done a beautiful job decorating it in tasteful island style. The washer and dryer were so helpful, and the courtyards were played in by our children each day. We used the grills and we loved eating every meal on the beautiful lanai. We just returned from our vacation in Maui. The condo was everything as promised and the bed was really comfortable. The view of the the whales was fabulous and we saw a lot of activity in the mornings. We found Maui Sands centrally located to most places and easy walking distances to stores, farmers market and beach access. The complex was quiet clean and people staying there were generally friendly. We hope to return soon and see some of the sights we missed due to the rain.

We stayed at the Maui Sands 4E with our five year old twins for 9 days in October It was such an ideal location for our family! The unit was spacious, clean and well stocked with everything we needed to play at the beach, cook all of our meals and have all the conveniences of home. We loved having in- suite laundry! We started every morning having coffee and breakfast on the lanai and seeing who could be the first to spot a sea turtle and we ended our days watching the sun set into the sea. The proximity to the beach was perfect and we felt so safe having our children play in the water because of the reef. They loved racing up and down the beach watching little fish swim in the water beside them. We were impressed with the snorkeling we could do between the two reefs. Amazing! Within two weeks of being home we have booked another trip to Maui for next summer and of course we will be staying at our Maui "home" - Maui Sands 4E. Can't wait to get back! Laura, The condo was a perfect getaway from all the fires we were having in San Diego. My parents were amazed how close the condo was to the ocean! The views from the balcony are spectacular, and the condo itself was perfect for us. The beds were comfortable, and the drawers came in handy for a week long stay. The full kitchen was great as well. We also stocked up at costco, and barbecued out on the grill... some of the best steaks I've eaten in a long time. My whole family had a blast on Maui, and your condo was great to come home to each night after zip-lining, biking down volcanos, hiking up waterfalls, snorkeling, and seeing all the wild life in Lahaina on Halloween. March 17 –23, 2007We had a fabulous time in Maui and the unit was wonderful. It is newly remodeled and very nicely decorated. The location couldn’t be better – it truly is right on the ocean. Also just minutes away (walking) from the coffee shop, farmers market, grocery store, and several small deli/restaurants for take out or eat in. The sound of the waves coming in, the sunsets, the whales – it couldn’t have been better!! A perfect place for us to kick back and enjoy some great family time... Laura - thanks for a week at your special getaway. The four of us were very comfortable and couldn't get over how close the unit was to the waves. We loved sunsets and whale watching on the lanai, walks on the beach, surfs out front and falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Great beds too...some award winning sleeps! This condo is extremely beautiful. You can hear the waves the entire time since it is so close to the beach. The bed is very comfortable. The island style of the furniture and condo makes you feel right at home. You will enjoy the beautiful view from the Lanai and the easy access to the beach. Laura, So nice of you to check up on us, we were so impressed with how quickly we got the new T.V. ! We really loved the condo, we had room for everyone and the best part was that huge couch, we did alot of relaxing! We loved the beach and the waves that were right outside our door. Our vacation really went so well and thanks again about being so prompt about the T.V., that really was a nice suprise. The T.V. worked fine the first night we got there and then the next morning when we turned it on it had the white lines in the picture, we hadn't even opened up the shutters yet, so I don't think it was wet, since the shutters were closed when we got there, but a bigger stand that blocks it from the weather might help. I don't think it would block the view much, since the big sliding door is right next to it. We truly enjoyed our trip and your lovely condo, your decorations are perfect and add so much! thanks again, april

Laura, We had a really great time at your place. It is always difficult to pick a place out of a website because pictures aren't always doing justice to it. Your condo surprised us in a good way. It is spacious, very clean, and well equipped. The view is top notch so we really could not hope for a better place to stay. We took good care of everything and tried to leave the place the way we found it. Overall, our stay was great, we had a bit of rain on Tuesday but that did not stop us to go surfing. Our family stayed here in early Nov '06 (two children). The condo was comfortable, clean, and recently remodelled with a great balcony directly overlooking the Pacific. It is well-stocked, with lots of kids beach toys as well. Definitely highly recommended.

We loved every minute. The unit is great - besides the incredible location steps from the water, the unit is beautifully decorated and the kitchen equipped with everything you need. Location is located close to markets and beaches but unit makes one feel truly away from it all. We stayed here with 3 adults and 1 toddler and it worked out perfectly. We intend to come back and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

- Two grandparents, two parents, two young grandchildren) really enjoyed our stay here in the first week of Oct '06. - The property has been substantially updated and is beautiful. It is light-filled and breezy with new furnishings and appointments. - The setting is beautiful: second floor overlooking the ocean which is only 10 feet away. The sound of the surf fills the apt all day and night. - The location is great: near golf courses and snorkeling beaches, near to inexpensive restaurants (and expensive ones if desired), in an area of slow-paced relaxation. - We'll be back.
