Welcome to Casa Tranquillo. A beautiful beach house located on the pristine, white sandy beach near Tulum.
The house is situated at approximately the 6.7 kilometer point on the main beach road. This is the road that runs south along the beach to Punta Allen. The road was recently resurfaced with asphalt and is easy to drive. We are a relatively short 10 to 12 minute ride from Tulum and it is easy to find. Just look for the blue posts with round, red reflectors. Another reference is that we are just past the Arifices Resort and just before Ana y Jose’s Hotel and Restaurant. You will pass the Anna y Jose's Beach Club on the way to our house.
Casa Tranquillo is a spacious, 2000 square foot house that has 30 meters or about 100 feet of beautiful, white sand beach frontage, facing the majestic Caribbean Sea.
Casa Tranquillo has 3 spacious bedrooms, all with king-size beds. Each bedroom has easy access to one of the 2 restrooms, with one on each level. The restroom downstairs has a full bath and restroom upstairs has a shower. There is an outdoor, cold water shower and foot wash for you to rinse off, after you have a swim in the rich, blue-green, Caribbean Sea or after a morning or evening stroll down the tranquil, sandy beaches. The third level roof, with easy access off the thatch covered balcony, offers great views of sunrises, sunsets or star lit skies.
I encourage you to rent a car to get around. Taxis run from $7 to $10 each way from town to the house. If you elect to not rent a car, you could consider renting bicycles in the nearby village of Punta Piedra.
Your private beach-front home is surrounded by tropical and beach plants, including palm trees with coconuts, beautiful white beach lilies and many other native trees and plants.
This area of the Caribbean Sea is the home to many types of sea life, but of interest to you are the sea turtles. The turtles return to the beach where they were born to lay their eggs in the mid to late summer. If you are fortunate to be here during that season, you will be able to see these majestic 300 plus pound giants exit the sea and dig their nest.
The downstairs of the house is designed to be an open and friendly living area. The kitchen service bar separates the kitchen from the dining or leisure space. You can sit on a bar stool and sip your morning coffee, talking with those preparing breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped with a variety of appliances, including a gas stove with an oven and a gas refrigerator with a freezer. We also have a selection of cooking utensils, pots and pans, plates, glasses, cups, a electric juicer, coffee maker, toaster, and a blender for mixing the margaritas in the evening. Service for six is provided. We will provide plenty of bottled drinking water during your stay. The European propane gas refrigerator is spacious enough to store your fresh meat and produce purchase in town. The freezer is large enough for ice trays and several quarts of your favorite Mexican Ice Cream.
As a house warming gifts, we will stock the refrigerator with a case of cold Mexican beer or pop for you upon arrival. We will also provide a bountiful fruit basket for your enjoyment.
If barbequing is your thing, there is a propane gas grill that can be rolled out the back door to grill hamburgers, hotdogs, steaks or fresh fish you purchase at the local fisherman’s market in town.
We have several nice hammocks and hammock chairs for you to hang inside or outside. Lounge around and read your favorite book you brought along, or pick one from our library, or use them to take a traditional Mexican Siesta or nap.
One of the owners will be in Tulum during your stay, to personally attend to you and your group, in the event you have any questions or encounter any unforeseen problems. To make your stay less stressful and make contact with us easy, we will loan you a Mexican prepaid cell phone with our numbers pre-programmed to make reaching out easier.
Since there is no electrical service along the beach road, electricity at Casa Tranquillo is provided by a bank of solar panels. The power is stored in a bank of batteries and then converted using an inverter, so the house has US Standard 120v power. We use eco-friendly low wattage bulbs and try to conserve as much as possible. Please help us conserve electricity at all times.
Casa Tranquillo is equipped with a satellite dish antenna and we have US television for your evening entertainment. If you bring DVDs, you can watch them on our DVD player.
To help you enjoy the beach, we have 4 beach chaise lounge chairs, 4 Adirondack chairs and three palyapas (one with swings), out in front of the house. Do not forget the hammocks too. We also have 2 sea kayaks and 5 boogie boards for you to use in the surf during your stay.
You can prepare your own meals in your own kitchen after shopping at the various open markets and shops in Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
We hope that this will help you plan and prepare for a great stay at our house. There is a Mexican saying "Mi Casa Es Su Casa", which translates as "My House Is Your House". We truly want you and your group to enjoy your stay in your house.

We LOVED our stay at the beach house! We brought our four children ages 13, 10, 6, and 4 and they all had a wonderful time. The house was very accomodating with everything we needed. There is so much to see and do in Tulum!- we will definitely go back to the same house and finish what we missed! We would absolutely recommend this house to anyone! It's fun to hear the ocean waves and to walk out the front to a beautiful beach / ocean view. The beach is not crowded like Can Cun. Plenty of crab/ turtle hunting and the kids loved body surfing every day. My husband enjoyed reading his book under the palapa! Craig and Mike are easy to get in contact with to help or give advice. VERY nice guys thay went over and beyond what a hotel clerk would do. It's a beautiful place to visit - a "real" Mexican place without the tourist hype. A great education for our children along with a beautiful place to vacation!

Our week at Casa Tranquillo was refreshing. The children -- ages 7 to 12 -- loved playing on the long sandy beach and boogie boarding. Adults loved listening to the waves while reclining on beach chairs or hammock. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen functions well. Location is great -- near nice restaurants and not too far from well-stocked supermarkets. Area abundant with Mayan ruins, cenotes, and adventure parks.
Owner response:Glad you had a great stay with us and we look forward to you returning for another vacation on the pristine Tulum beach.

My family, including two teens, and some family friends shared the house for the Thanksgiving holiday. The location couldn't be more perfect, right on the ocean, with snow white sand. We could hear the crashing waves and feel the sea breeze every night. Mike and Craig are wonderful, answering all our questions and providing every amenity needed, including coconuts that were peeled and ready to drink! We tried out the kayaks and body boards in the waves. Sat under palm trees and caught up on our reading. Watched the sunset from the rooftop deck in the evening. Made use of the kitchen for breakfast, lunch, appetizers, drinks -- with dinner at terrific restaurants located right on the beach within walking distance, I don't think I wore shoes the entire week! The wifi is weak, just enough for a quick email check, which can be a good thing if you really want to get away from it all. And if you can drag yourself away from Casa Tranquillo, there's plenty to do nearby: Tulum ruins, a walk through town, boat snorkeling trips, biosphere. A lovely lovely holiday. We'd definitely come back.

This house has a fabulous beach. The sand is soft and it is kept swept and beautiful every day by Manuel. He will also cut you down fabulous coconuts and let you drink sweet coconut water with a straw. There are boogie boards, kayaks (if it is ever calm enough for them) and reclining lounges with cushions. The inside of the house needs a "woman's touch". The furniture is not especially comfortable and there are bare lightbulbs in the ceiling that would be so much nicer with some kind of covers. The kitchen is pretty basic for doing much more than snacking, though we cooked a fair amount of beans, rice and guacamole. The owner is extremely nice, helpful and has lots of good advice and recommendations for the area. He also does a good job of making sure that the house is environmentally friendly. The location of the house is perfect, far enough away from anything noisy, yet close enough for lots of restaurants and music nearby. We had a great time. Go to Zamas for entertainment at night. Keep in mind that restaurants in Tulum Pueblo will cost about half what the restaurants along the beach cost.

My husband and I spent four days at Casa Tranquillo. Our stay was unfortunately cut short by an approaching hurricane. But we really enjoyed our time there. The best thing about the house is the location, privacy and beach. The beach setting is just perfect. And the location is so convenient, as you can walk to several bars and restaurants and a short drive gets you to many more. We had been to this area before, but never stayed on the beach road. It was a great place to stay. The house itself is fairly basic, but has everything you really need. It's not new, and shows it's age a bit. I had worried about the no air conditioning, but we were very cool in the evenings with the windows open a bit and the breeze. The owners are fantastic and very responsive, the caretaker who comes to take care of things outside is very nice, and all in all we had everything we needed to have a very restful and relaxing vacation. We also enjoyed having the Canadian satellite tv which got all of the US networks. It was nice to every so often catch up on news, etc. Great for families, but also for a couple like us who just want the peace and quiet, beautiful beach, and convenient location. I would recommend it.

We had the greatest family vacation at Casa Tranquilo. It is a perfect place to get away from your busy lives. It is a perfect spot for all, whether you want to take in the many attractions nearby or just relax on your own private beach, it just doesn't get any better. As were others, we were well taken care of by Craig, one of the owners and Manuel the grounds keeper - and of course we partook in the fresh off the tree coconut nectar. A lot of times you leave a vacation needing a vacation, but not the case here! We rented a car but only used it to go the local market, which has everything you need to prepare meals. The rest of the time, we walked to the neighboring restaurants for great food and margaritas. We found Zulum (two doors down) had the best margaritas (and happy hour:)) and an incredible mixed seafood ceviche YUM! And most of the restaurants we encountered no shoes were required and all had foot baths at the entrance. So you could spend all your time taking the beautiful beach. One of our favorite evening past times was spend on the spacious roof top, taking in the gorgeous view. we would definitely return here as a family or with other couples, we checked out other spots (mostly hotel types, which we weren't interested in) along the beach, but this was by far the best beach, view and had privacy. The floor plan was very convenient for families as well, the bedrooms upstairs has an adjoining bathroom, so the kiddos didn't feel like they were isolated in a strange place. Thanks Craig & Mike
Owner response:Michele, It was great having you and your family stay with us. Your great words are truly appreciated. Craig and I try to make you stay comfortable in our beach house. We just installed a new propane refrigerator in our effort to keep the furnishings up to date. We look forward to your family coming back to Casa Tranquillo and the Best Beach in Mexico. Mike

You can't beat this house for a perfect beachfront vacation. My wife, myself, and our four children (age 11,10,7,7) stayed at this spacious home, equipped with everything you need. This is one of only a few private homes on all the beach in Tulum, set amidst chic cabana-style hotels. How many 'top 10' lists of beaches are on the internet? Too many to count. With the beautiful powdery sand, lovely onshore wind and warm water, the kids and us all had a blast. No falling over other tourists looking for a spot to sit, Casa Tranquillo has tonnes of oceanfront. Walk to your own house to make a drink or have lunch, or, saunter a few yards down the beach and pick another restaurant. We enjoyed going to La Lunita restaurant when we wanted to spoil ourselves. They would provide us a whole pot of coffee, margaritas, or whatever we wanted, and scoot back over to our beachfront to enjoy in the privacy of our setting. Or, scoot into town 7 minutes away and grab groceries from a pretty decent grocery store. Much more reasonable prices on meals out in town as well. Book a massage at a beach hotel, go for a 5k run first thing on the beach. Best of all worlds, if you want it. Enjoy the sunrises and sunsets from the roof. Plenty of power to get you through the day from the solar panels, and clean drinking water delivered regularly. Manuel was great about raking the beach, and getting coconuts for kids, which he split and gave the kids. The kids spent hours on the beach with the boards supplied at the house, which Mike and Craig keep in good repair. The sand is frankly awesome for building castles etc. We are pretty cautious parents, and being our first time in this area, were concerned about what risks there may be. We never felt unsafe or at risk in this area, in any way. The odd beach-walking local selling something was about all we had to deal with. Maybe once a day when we were right at the beach. A simple no thank you sent them on their way. Craig was around during our trip. When we arrived at the house, he met us there and gave us a cell phone we could use to call him anytime we had a question. We didn't abuse this, but when we did call, he answered. Great tips on choice of local restaurants, where to get gas, how far to various locations etc. By the end of the week, we wondered where all the time went!
Owner response:We enjoyed hosting your family in our house. Glad you had a great stay and enjoyed the great beach. We look forward to your family returning in the future. Mi Casa, Su Casa. MIke

We recently stayed at Casa Tranquillo and LOVED it. We traveled with kids ages 6 months, 3yrs, 5yrs, & 6 1/2 yrs. Everyone had a great time. The house was clean and big enough for us all (4 adults and 4 kids). The owners were wonderful at accommodating our needs, especially in regard to traveling with a baby. Believe it or not, we did not rent a car! We stayed at the house for two weeks and we did not wait more than five minutes for a taxi at the end of the driveway. We used a shuttle service to get to and from the airport and it was great. The service asked the ages of our children and when we got in the van they had car seats for them all! We saved a huge amount by taking taxis. I've been to Tulum twice now, once with a car and once without. If we go again, I wouldn't rent a car!
Owner response:Francesca, Thank you for the kind words and we look forward to you staying with us on another beach vacation to Mexico. I would like to thank you also for sharing your thoughts on your decision not to rent a car in Mexico. Many traveler ask us what they should do and we have traditionally suggested they rent a car. This will help them make a better decision for their family.

We had planned "the vacation of a lifetime," and Casa Tranquillo did not disappoint! My partner and I had been to Tulum two years before, and decided to share our love of the place with our 3 children (ages 11, 16 and 24) -- who each brought a friend along. There was space for everyone to do their own thing -- hanging out on the beach, watching the sunset from the rooftop, reading on the balcony, mixing Caribbean cocktails or making quesadillas in the kitchen. It was ideal for us -- such a large and diverse group -- the littler ones played with boogie boards and sea kayaks in the water, the older kids sunbathed and napped, and we were able to walk along the beach, feeling very comfortable and safe. Craig was really helpful, offering advice from his vast knowledge of the area to bringing us fresh 5 gallon bottles of water -- and being flexible, when a massive blizzard rearranged our travel plans for us. With a car, we were able to easily get into Tulum Pueblo to shop and find our way to other sites, like Coba and great snorkeling at Yal-Ku Lagoon in Akumal (Craig's recommendation.) A great place I can't wait to return to!
