  Booked last February along with two other units in this complex for a family vacation. The other units were excellent. First clue was the condition of the front door. Splintering! Lanai door was very hard to open. Our 8 year old granddaughter could not push it open. The screen was torn in the screen door. The carpet was filthy and dirt was clinging from the ceiling fans. Pots, pans and dishes had been put away with food stuck to them. Glass and cups were stuck to the shelves. Drapery needed to be altered to fit around the AC unit. Had to hold it back with a chair. Also, one panel was missing so the sun shone directly on the couch making it impossible to use the living area in the afternoon. The panel were screwed in place so it could not be adjusted. Obvious water damage under the sinks. Dry rot. Owner did not respond to email or phone calls after we had arrived. No pride in ownership. Very disappointing.

  Owner response: As an owner and someone that has been on vrbo.com for over 7 years, the problem with this rental came with my on Island agent and the Renters of the property. I have had my on Island agent for 7 years and she does a wonderful job in both cleaning my unit and taking care of guests needs, but every once in a while in that course of doing business and that 1 guest in the year, an issue comes up. I take my business and rentals seriously and so does my on Island agent. But when a guest causes a conflict with my on Island agent there may be issues that will come up. As an example that happened with this rental, when the guests complain about a dirty microwave, and that same microwave was just purchased brand new for the previous guests because the other one had broke, even I will have an issue with these guests. My on Island agent and cleaning service is not going to be a daily cleaning service, but any initial issues will be addressed and taken care of upon arrival. I book approximately 20 guests per year, and you will always have that 5%-10%(1 or 2 rentals a year) that will never be satisfied no matter what you may do to resolve the issues. • Close to the beach

  Our stay at Kihei Alii Kai was good overall. Tom was really nice, the transactions were easy and he would respond to any emails/questions I had fairly quickly. Parts of the condo were not maintained such as some dry rot in the bathroom, a ripped screen door to the lanai, and a missing curtain panel. The condo did not have any laundry detergent (even though it was requested we wash our towels before departing), dish washing supplies, toilet paper and a few other items we thought would be in a functioning condo. It would have also been nice to have internet. The beach was really close and there were many other conveniences close to area such as restaurants, a blue moon natural foods store, and an ABC store.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

  Owner response: As with any owner that is not on Island, we rely on reviews and emails to let us know when some minor maintenance issues need to be taken care of like the ripped screen sliding door. My on Island agent also trys to keep stocked with detergent for washing clothes and personal items. When there are back to back rentals they may "ask" for assistance to throw in some towels, so as to not interfere with new guests checking in, but it is not a requirement. It's interesting when you discuss with people and when you have back to back rentals, how some people will forget the discounted rate they received because of the back to back.

  Our stay in this unit couldn't have been any better. The photos and descriptions in the listing were exactly as presented and the unit was very clean and well-maintained. The owner was an absolute delight. They made the transaction quick and easy and were most accommodating with our schedule. All of my questions were answered in the same day and they were wonderful to deal with. The complex is close to everything and the pool area is perfect for relaxing. I'm hoping to make this an annual trip for my family and this unit will definitely be my first choice. I will be recommending it to my family and friends. Thank you so much for making our vacation unforgettable!

  This condo was just what we needed for our stay on Maui. Tom the owner was really sweet and great to deal with. He would answer and reply to my emails and phone calls concerning the condo. The condo is well kept and stocked with all sorts of things needed for a beach outing or cooking a meal. The condo complex is quite big but well kept and quiet. We enjoyed our time here and would love to visit again.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

  We stayed in this unit the last week of January 2012. The location is perfect, just a short walk to Kamaole I and II. The lanai has a lovely view. If you are not a fan of stairs, then this is not the place. There are stairs everywhere. The unit did not have a pool key and other guests have made the same comment in the guest book. If the pool is important, ask the owner if the unit comes with a pool key. Also, the TV in the bedroom did not work, but you are in Maui after all. Otherwise, excellent location in Kihei.

  Recommended for: Age 55+.

  Owner response: A previous tenant removed the pool key and a replacement is there now. The TV in the bedroom does work as a DVD TV since none of the units in the complex have cable available for the bedrooms.

  We stayed in the beginning of December 2008. It was much closer to the beach than I thought it would be. The sunsets from the lanai were fantastic! Everything you you need for a great time at the beach was there in the condo. Cooking facilities were fantastic in comparison with other condos I've stayed at. I's highly recommend this condo to anyone. It is quiet and central. Be sure you are in stair climbing shape though!
