Located at 412 East Arctic Ave., Folly Beach SC, 29439, this adorable classic beach cottage is the perfect getaway! The moment you arrive, your stress will magically melt away. Waiting for you upstairs are fabulous ocean views from the rocking chairs on the large front screened porch, and a dedicated pedestrian beach access directly across the street with views of the Pier. You can have sand between your toes within moments!
Talk about cute, this is it! Outside, a sunny exterior, attractive landscaping, large parking area, and outside shower beckon. Inside, you'll ooo and ahhh over the original 1940's white-washed beadboard walls and ceilings, and the original heart pine floors that gleam in the Carolina sunshine. With fun and funky decor, this is definitely not your grandmother's beach house!
This duplex has great flexibility for small to large groups. Two separate floors, each with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, living room, dining room, kitchen & laundry. Each living room has a full size futon, too, for extra sleeping space (in case Uncle Ralph crashes your beach getaway). We also welcome well-behaved pets, so your pups can enjoy a beach vacation, too!
In addition to the beach, there are many other ways to pass the time here. We have a great park two blocks away with a tennis court, basketball court, and new children's play area. We also have a public fishing pier and a boat landing, as well as kayak tours and parasailing. A favorite activity is a stroll at the far end of the island to view the Morris Island Lighthouse with dolphins frolicking in the channel right in front of you.
Folly Beach has a host of good local restaurants on Center Street, which is a short 4 block walk from the house. In addition, the renowned culinary delights of downtown Charleston are a scant 20 minute drive. Toss in the historical cache of Charleston, and the possible diversions are endless! Once you go Folly, you'll never go back.
And remember, at Folly Beach, "Tan Fat is Muscle!"

Good Time at the Beach

We stayed in the lower level the week of 5/21/11 and enjoyed our stay very much. The unit was great for our needs and our small dog's needs. We were so close to the beach for our twice a day dog walk. It was also close to downtown so we could walk downtown for a meal or two. Would definitely stay there again. Loved Folly Beach.

The experience at this cottage was positive. I rented both upstairs and downstairs unit. The upstairs unit is the nicer apartment but the downstairs more than suited our needs, We gathered on the upstairs porch in the evenings which has a nice view of the ocean across the street. It is close enough to hear the waves coming ashore. A short four block walk and you are in the town of Folly Beach. Our stay was very pleasant.
Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers.

We just returned from Folly Beach this weekend, March 25 - 27, 2011. We loved staying at this awesome beach house. My daughter took two friends, they are all twelve, and loved the old-fashioned darling little house. My husband and I thought it was great too! It exceeded our expectations and Marty was a pleasure to work with. Next trip, we will bring our son, our daughter, each will take a friend, and our two little dogs. The upstairs has plenty of room for all of us! The neighbors were so friendly as well. Counting the weeks until we can return again! Thanks for such a great place to stay at the best little beach in the world~

This is a quaint, older beach cottage with lovely landscaping out front and a very cute exterior. The photos make it look larger then it really is. The lower level had a basement feel and smell with stained, grey lineoleum floors. The advertised wood floors and beadboard are in the upper level only. We were right across the street from the beach access which was very nice, but there were no ocean views from the upstairs porch. Screened in porches are wonderful to have, but too many mosquitos & other insects were able to gain access. The kitchens were poorly equipped and the appliances were old. Outside shower had only cold water and was close to the street. If you are interested in dining together, you have to carry chairs upstairs and then only 8 people can sit around the table. Many things malfunctioned or fell apart during our stay: air conditioner, screen door handle/latch, dryer, refrigerator, closet shelf and rod. Some of these were repaired during our stay and some were not. It is understandable that things will go wrong with an older place, but it is not what you want to be dealing with when you are on vacation. We would suggest that before your stay you find out what repairs of this older cottage you might be charged for. We were very glad to be able to bring our dogs here and there are not a lot of places that allow you to do this. It was also nice that smoking was not allowed. We loved the area, being able to walk to town, ride bikes on the beach, waves big enough to boogie board on and a short ride to Charleston. We plan on returning to the Folly Beach area, but, unless you have or want to bring your dogs we do not recommend this place.
Owner response:During the three and a half years we have been sharing our beach house with vacationing families, this has been our first bad feedback. Up until now, we have had nothing but glowing reports from many many happy renters. Feel free to check out the guest books in our home for yourself, and soak up some of that Folly Beach stress relief in person. Cheers!

Marty was so easy to work with and returned phone calls wonderful during the scheduling process. The house was only 4 or 5 blocks from the center of Folly. Very convenient. The home was really clean. The house was the row of houses from the beach. The houses were staggered to a degree so that you could still see the beach, which made for a nice time rocking on the chairs in the screened in porch. Hardwoods throughout were really nice. Came with Laundry machines, side by side fridge, and microwave. The two bedrooms were nice but then also had the single and queen size futons in the living room in case we had more people. It was pet friendly, we put our dogs in our own crates during the days. It was so nice becuase we didn't have to pack the dogs up to go to the beach, we just walked across the street. We are definitely planning on coming back. Thanks again Marty.
