Relax on our open, covered deck and absorb the tranquil sights & sounds of the birds, frogs and brilliant, turquoise waters as well as our vibrant gardens of many fruit trees. Soak in our outdoor hot tub, located amidst our tropical gardens.
From Gecko House, it is an easy five-minute walk down to Fish Bay, where you'll find a quiet and private shallow water beach perfect for beach-combing and walking along paths through the mangroves.
Accommodations:
Gecko House is a fully appointed large one room rental cottage with an additional sleeping space. A fully equipped kitchen opens up to the bedroom area with a queen bed, high speed internet access & cable TV. A private screened in deck overlooking the ocean, awaits you off the bedroom.
A second bedroom on the lower level and separate from the cottage is sometimes available to family members or friends traveling with guests of the cottage. The lower bedroom has a queen bed, full bath, fully screened in porch with eating area, kitchen with microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker. Adult children welcomed. There is an additional charge for this added accommodation.
Gecko house is at the end of a road, making it private, quiet, peaceful, and restful. You'll enjoy being away from hectic life in Cruz Bay, but close enough to go and enjoy dinner, shopping and nightlife, in only a 10-minute ride. Gecko House was just perfect! What a gift it was having such a beautiful place as a home base for our trip. Neatly tucked away on a hillside overlooking Fish Bay, this cute, clean and affordable piece of paradise had everything we needed to enjoy St.John. Andrea was so helpful letting us know about some out of the way points of interest (beaches, trails etc.) We'll be back.

My husband and I stayed at the Gecko House for one week right after Thanksgiving. We were extremely comfortable staying at the Gecko house, although small, pictures accurately reflect the villa. Gecko House was clean and tidy, and if you want to cook we recommend you bring/buy staples (seasoning, oil) We loved the lush garden below where we enjoyed a juicy ripe papaya one morning. Andrea has a great selection of books which provided great information about St. John. We found that renting a Jeep was necessary to explore the island as it's extremely hilly and 4WD is needed. The driveway up to Gecko house was easy to drive up with 4WD. 10 Minute drive to Cruz Bay was easy and about 25 minutes to Coral Bay. The only gas station on the island is in Cruz Bay. If you're looking for a cool sports pub, check out Skinny Legs in Coral Bay and you can get some great vegetarian food a Rhumb Lines in Cruz Bay. For the money, Gecko House is an excellent value!

Gecko House was perfect for our honeymoon. We stayed for a week, and made full use of the full kitchen, hot tub, and outdoor deck. While small, this "studio apartment" was all we needed. And it was great having Andrea around to recommend restaurants, activities, and the best beaches. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we ever go back to St. John.

Gecko House is a delightful, tastefully furnished place to stay on St. John. We were there for a week and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It is very comfortable, well-appointed, and the end-of-road location means it is quiet. The screened in porch is a lovely place to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner or just hang out and read, and in the evening lounging around in the hot tub is perfect! The views from the house are truly beautiful - one can see both sunrise and moonrise over Fish Bay (we were there for the full moon). The house has a ceiling fan and as the porch is screened, one can just leave the door open and let the breezes blow in. It is very much an open air existence which is the way it should be in such a beautiful place. The owner of Gecko House is gracious, very knowledgeable about the island and has great suggestions for day trips by car or on foot. The house is close to Cruz Bay and so going out to dinner is just a matter of a 10-minute drive. We highly recommend the walk along Reef Bay to the ruins of the Sugar Refinery and then up to the petroglyphs. We'd return to Gecko House any day!

We had a lovely stay at Gecko House. My daughters also enjoyed their "separate" apartment. The accomodations were very comfortable, and our host, Andrea, was very helpful. The view was fabulous, and the location was very quiet yet convenient. The grounds around the home are lush and nice for exploring. We loved the 4th of July parade in Town. We would love to return to Gecko House and the wonderful island of St. John. Parsons family -- July 2009
