A great place in Gills Rock

My wife and I recently spent a thoroughly-enjoyable long weekend in Door County. We like Gills Rock the best and were totally delighted to have found this wonderful rental property. The location is great ... it's very clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the patio by the water; in fact, last Friday night had a great campfire in the firepit. We'd recommend this lodging facility without hesitation.
Owner response:Very kind of you to take the time. Also VERY glad you enjoyed yourselves. Denise

Wonderful Vacation Place

Growing up, I vacationed in Door County at least 23 consecutive summers by my calculation, always in Ellison Bay. When I finally organized myself to show my beloved Door County to my husband, we rented this place up in Gills Rock. It was absolutely perfect. Of course, it helped that from the time we left our Texas home in the morning, to the time we pulled into the Gills Rock driveway in the late afternoon, we experienced a heavenly drop in temperature of nearly 30 degrees!! But even aside from that, the house is just wonderful. The views from the living/dining area over the deck to the lake are beautiful, the patio and fire pit on the beach are wonderful, and I love the location so near the "top of the thumb" away from the bustle of more central Door County. We walked and walked and walked on beautiful quiet roads through woods & meadows, all over the area, visited the Ridges Sanctuary and Door Shakespeare in Baileys Harbor, spent a day on Washington Island, had a fish boil at the Viking . . . but mostly we spent a whole lot of time lounging on the deck and beach at this house, reading and sleeping, too. SOOO restful. Having your own bit of beach with this house is a very precious asset. The house is perfectly comfortable and furnished, and as others have noted, you just need to bring your own food. That's it. I wish we could keep this secret to ourselves, but we have to praise this house - and the Diclementis, our wonderful hosts whom I have never met but who feel like friends.

An Outstanding Vacation

We have now rented this house 3 times and already have reservations for next year. It provides the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy all the opportunities Door County has to offer. The house is comfortable and has beautiful views of the sunsets. The bird feeders around the house attract a wide variety of birds (indigo buntings, various woodpeckers, nut hatches, chickadees). Having a washer and dryer means we don't have to pack so many clothes for extended stays. And one of our favorite restaurants in Door County is within walking distance of the house.
Owner response:The Shoreline Restaurant is one of our favorite places, too!

We just adored this house and it's location, the sitting area by the lake is beatutiful, there is a large fire pit and picnic table to enjoy the evening sunsets. The rock steps make it easy to get to the water. Gills Rock is not as crowded or busy with toruists as the other towns and yet just a short ride to enjoy those places as well. Washington island ferry is close by and it's great to go see. The house is very comfortable and homey, the kitchen is so well equiped you don't need to bring anything but your food. Everything is neat and being able to see the lake from the livingroom, dining room is just great. The Diclemnti's were a joy to work with and very accomdating, all in all our Door County vacation was an A+.
Owner response:Tina So very grateful for all the nice things you had to say about the house. Also more glad you had a great week. Thank you again, Denise
