An "Un-Fore-Gettable" View. Huge Cabin Overlooking Golf Course
- Minimum stay:N/A

Un-Fore-Gettable is unbelievable! Located high, very high, atop Screamer Mountain in the charming, busy, small town of Clayton, in scenic north Georgia, this whimsical vacation getaway cabin is one you’ll return to again and again.
The breathtaking drive up the mountain is the first indication that you are going someplace special. Un-Fore-Gettable is conveniently secluded; easy to get to, but so quiet and peaceful, you won’t believe town is five minutes away.
On your approach to the driveway, a hand-painted, carved wooden sign will make it easy to recognize that you’ve arrived. The drive itself is new gravel, easy to maneuver as you walk past the open-air hot tub (great place to watch for shooting stars at night) to unlock the door and begin to unwind from the stress of everyday life.
Of course, first you should rush to the floor to ceiling windows in the vaulted great room to attempt to take in the view! I say attempt because the view is so vast and so wide that you could look at it for months and never absorb all the beauty before you.
Step out onto the full length deck that’s almost completely surrounded by fresh air and gaze at the beauty above and below. At Un-Fore-Gettable, you are seemingly 'above' the horizon, as if you are on top of the world! Spread out below the cabin is the intricate green patchwork of Kingwood Golf and Country Club, and if you feel like a round of golf, you can see the cabin from the course.
Back inside, the cabin is furnished with eclectic, up-to-date decor depicting all the activities you might do while you visit! The Golf Bedroom is filled with golf themed decorations and whimsy, or you could choose the Fishing Room or the Bear Room (some say they’ve seen a peaceful black bear eating berries down the hill from the house). Beside the floor to ceiling rock fireplace, a playful stuffed black bear stands guard over his home, but will pose for pictures for a scratch on the back.
The kitchen is fully stocked with appropriate cookware if you should choose to take your meals in rather than enjoy one of the many local restaurants. Yes, there’s a blender too! Along with the microwave and coffee maker! There are even extra quilts to wrap up in while you rock on the deck and stare at the first star between the mountains across the way.
Un-Fore-Gettable has what you need: peace and quiet, plenty of breathing room inside and out, a bustling town just down below for good food and great shopping, golf, fishing in trophy streams nearby, hiking, even some on the Appalachian Trail if you want to say you’ve at least set foot on it!, white water rafting or tubing in the summers, and hot tubs and a bear in a Santa hat in the winter! And the view, everywhere the incredible view! When you leave Un-Fore-Gettable, you’ll already be looking forward to the next time you come and visit us!

My friends and I stayed at this cabin for two nights for a birthday celebration. There was plenty of room, and the place was warm. The cabin sits on the side of a mountain, and so to an extent it was hard to access. The Hot tub was not in a place where it was easily accessible and so we didnt use it. Also, it was below freezing. There was little as far as basic provisions are concerned. In other places I have stayed there were some staple items (i.e., coffee, dish soap, seasoning items in the pantry, etc). We had to purchase everything like that we wanted. Again, not that big of a deal, just depends on what kind of experience you want. It was very comfortable and warm and rustic. Worked out perfectly for a bunch of guys. We didnt turn the TV on the whole time because we had so much fun just hanging out. The porch has a fantastic view. My only real critique is the water pipes in the cold weather. Yes, there was a disclaimer about keeping the water dripping. However, when we left during the day and the temperature dropped, it took no time for the pipes to freeze and our water to be gone. Thanks to ingenuity, some of the guys were able to fix it by taking hair dryers to the water pipe below and thawing it out. But for that, the last night there would not have been as pleasant. Fireplace did not work. Overall, the experience was good. There were just a few nit-picky things you may want to consider when renting this cabin. Pretty good for the price you pay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for your comments. In reference to the fireplace.. since we have a new cedar shake roof so we choose not to allow gas fires/ woodburning fires in the fireplace and have provided an electric fireplace in front of the stone one. Concerning the water.. we are subject to all the pipes on the mountain so when it gets really cold in the mornings it is common for a little bit of issues.

I was here for a girl's getaway weekend - keep in mind we're from Atlanta and most of us are not used to "roughing it." :) Pros: The views were outstanding. I loved the hammock and the chairs on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee. I felt like I was in a different world! The cabin is perched on the mountainside (and is half on stilts). Really peaceful area. Main bedroom bed was super comfortable. The bear in the living room is cute. Clean, cozy, and cute. Nice looking refinished kitchen. Bathroom was refinished too. Hiking trails nearby that led us to waterfalls! Loved the Cupboard Kitchen for breakfest - so tasty and fresh! Tiger Mountain Winery was lovely; the owners / workers were so personable and helped us obtain reservations for a restaurant that night. Very inexpensive tasting menu ($5 to taste around 10 wines!!). The Chop House at LaPrade’s on Lake Burton was a great place for dinner. A bit fancy with a lodge feel. Photos posted are accurate. Cons: The heater was confusing to use and it was hard to get a good temp - either too hot or too cold. The stairs on the outside / walking down to the cabin were steep and uneven. Extremely charming and fine in the day, but it was kind of scary to walk on them at night with lack of light (especially since there was a bit of a heel on my boots!). No dishwasher in the kitchen - opted to have wine fridge instead. Oh the driveway... it was very steep and intimidating to me. Luckily, I was not the driver. Daytime was tough to navigate, and nighttime was not fun. There was space up top on the road for 2 cars max. We made the mistake of arriving at night (which owner did warn us about, but I just couldn't leave work early that day). Drive up the mountain in the dark for the first time was nail-biting. Bottom Line - I would return to this cabin, but it may be hard on older folks and / or toddlers.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners.

When we arrived at the property we were very discouraged with nothing working in the cabin. Jacuzzi not turned on with no instructions and was never usable the whole stay, dish box was hanging in pieces, no TV, my husband had to fix the dish box and satellite, fan light in the kitchen had only one bulb out of 3, linens were to be included, we were given 2 washcloths, 2 hand towels, & 8 bath towels only, front blind didn't work so my husband had to fix the blind so we could see the view, blender was covered in gunk, hammock was just the frame, regular bulbs in the flood lights, light under microwave didn't work, upstairs sink was loose, electronic locks on the shed and cabin didn't consistently work, driveway was very steep and had very little gravel and was covered in weeds so when it rained the driveway was unusable. I emailed the owners regarding all the issues we had and I have never heard back from them.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/6

The view here is unbelievable! The house was really nice as well. Pleanty of places to sleep and lot of things to do. We played golf at the local resort where you can see the cabin on top of the mountain. We also went whitewater rafting on the Chatooga nearby. The location is perfect and the view is breathtaking. Highly recommend this place. The only downfall would be the parking. We almost got stuck coming up the driveway, and there is not much room to manuver. This is understandable since you are on top of a mountain. Will go back for sure!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, age 55+.

My wife, dog, and I stayed at this cabin over the weekend! It is in a fabulous location in the North Georgia Mountains and has a beautiful view off the back deck. The cabin was VERY clean and all instructions left by the owner were clear and easy to read. Plan to stay again soon and tell family and friends!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners.

I was in charge of booking my family reunion and was pleased to find a cabin that could handle our group and on top of that it was decorated in cute themes. Hiking minutes away and make sure to try the Tiger Drive inn for movies.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners.
