  My family and I rented the Hiatt Hale for 9 nights in 10/08. We wanted to stay in Kailua because of its beautiful beaches and quaint town. The house was exactly as advertised: clean, spacious, well-stocked. The lanai/pool area was great and we loved spending time out there and grilling out. The tiki torches were a nice touch. There were plenty of towels and dishware. The owner, Carolyn was gracious, welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed the proximity of downtown Kailua (1 mi) with its shops and restaurants. There was a shopping center less than 1/2 mi away with a grocery and places to eat. There were boogie boards, chairs and an umbrella in the garage to use on the beach. The welcoming fruit basket was lovely. We would definitely return here again and would recommend it to anyone. I wish we didn't have to leave!

  Carolyn hosted my family reunion this year and we had a great time in her spacious and comfortable home. The living space is really great and the large gourmet kitchen opens out to the lounging areas so we never lost sight of each other or the kids in the pool. Having private access to Kailua beach was a plus since most mornings we walked to coffee or used all the beach toys and chairs to just relax. We also used the large gas grill and ate outside on the lanai almost every night which is a special feature you do not get in many homes. I have been renting vacation properties in Kailua for over 30 years and lived here for 15 of those years. Carolyn is a wonderful host and always there if you need anything. She takes special care of her home and wants to make sure it is enjoyed, keeping it in great condition - the pictures barely do it justice. I recommend this property for families and for those looking for a large gathering space both inside and out with plenty of room for the kids and adults.

  Our family of three generations: one set of grandparents (us), three adult children plus two significant others and one two year old grandson spent ten days in this fantastic home. So spacious that we never felt crowded, each bedroom beautifully appointed, new tasteful furnishings throughout, great kitchen, swimming pool with pool toys and best of all, a short walk down a private lane to the beautiful beach where we swam, watched sunsets, body surfed, surfed, and had general FUN! Short drive into town full of restaurants and a half hour drive into Honolulu. Best vacation ever!

  The Hiatt Hale was everything I saw in the pictures - only better! Not only was the house beautiful with large open bedrooms and plenty of entertainment on the inside (books, TV, Wi-Fi, etc) for those quiet nights, but it has a lovely pool and gorgeous greenery for sitting out poolside. It's quiet and surrounded by friendly people. The property itself is well-maintained, always very clean. If something happened or we had a question, it was answered quickly and efficiently and any directions or questions we had about the islands or what to do always had a great answer (we asked about where to get some turtle views and we were directed to a great beach where we got to swim with them - of course, they were swimming away but still a very neat experience! Saw a few whales at the same beach too). A few trees in the backyard even fell over because they were getting too top heavy and they were immediately taken care of and without a bother to us. But really, the best thing with my visit to the house was the beach. The house is only a few houses away from Kailua Bay with a private entrance (and better, a public entrance only a few houses in the opposite direction so you don't bother anyone for those late night swims). Not only was it super convenient, but the beach is AMAZING. It's shallow so you can go out pretty far, even with nubile swimmers, and gentle with the waves and not very busy (a huge draw since you only see the pictures of the crowded beaches when you look up Hawaii). We were provided with beach towels and boogie boards (along with other beach items if you wanted) - everything was literally right there so you didn't have to worry about bringing or buying anything. So convenient and it really made the trip even better than we had anticipated. The house has a great outdoor shower with a lot of privacy - so much so that you barely use the showers inside! The kitchen was brand new and gorgeous and a washer and dryer was available so we didn't have to pack for an entire week. A great, great stay (especially for my first in Hawaii - the standards are high if I ever go back out) and I hope to visit again very soon!

  Our recent stay at Hiatt Hale was superb. It is a quiet, scenic, private yet open and very comfortable property. It is also very well maintained and clean. The owner was also a good source of tips for visiting places on the island. I would highly recommend Hiatt Hale for your next stay in Oahu!

  The Hiatt Hale was perfect for our extended family vacation! The house was very accommodating for all 13 of us and was very clean. We had everything we needed to make our 12 day vacation enjoyable. The house had lots of bath and beach towels, the kitchen was fully stocked and we had a wonderful host to make sure our stay enjoyable. The kids loved swimming in the pool!! We appreciated the new pool fence that was installed. The beach was a three minute walk down the quiet private lane. The beach was amazing!!! We loved how quiet and private it was. The waves were excellent to body surf and boogie board in. Thank you for supplying so many boogie boards, we used them several times a day. The kids enjoyed the sand toys that you also provided. We found excellent snorkelling among the coral reef a few miles down the beach. The town of Kailua was lovely and close by. We really enjoyed the location of Kailu on the island. It was a 1/2 hour drive to most of the sightseeing on the island. We would highly recommend staying at the Hiatt Hale in Kailua. We had a very memorable vacation and would love to return again one day. Thank you so much Carolyn for the house rental and thank you to your lovely friend Lois for being such a great host.

  This marked the third time we have stayed Hiatt Hale. It is a wonderful home at a great location. We have had family reunions there as the central place while also renting one or two other locations. We felt it was wonderful the first time, but it has lately been upgraded and redesigned so that it is even better. The beach is marvelous and suitable for kids and adults. We love it, and hope to go there again!

  Hiatt Hale was the perfect place for our family get together. Our group consisted of three generations, 7 adults and three children, and everyone was very happy with our accomodations. The house was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The garden and pool were maintained nicely. The remodeled kitchen was great and had everything we needed for cooking for a big group. We all loved the pool, especially for the kids in the evenings while we were cooking dinner on the bbq, or when the wind came up on the beach. The beach was just a few houses away, down a private path. The beach break in front of the house was all sandy bottom, so it was really safe and fun for body surfing and boogeyboarding. The owner, Carolyn, was very gracious, accomodating, and easy to work with. We will absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

  This beautiful home, with pool only 5 steps out the door, was incredibly comfortable, quiet, clean and inviting. The on-premises owner was simply magnificent, from the welcoming fruit basket to accommodating our personal whims and wishes to advice on local places to eat/visit. Photos above can't reflect the sense of peace and warmth the home offers. Our entire family was ready to chuck everything stateside and move to Kailua - in part because of the wonderful home and host. Would absolutely stay there again and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues. FIVE STARS!!!
