The Kea'au House is in the country, five years old, three bedrooms, two baths, close to ocean. It is in the country, far from tourists and noise. The Warm Pool is nearby, where locals swim in healing waters that are heated by volcanic heat and cooled by the ocean waters. There are beaches within a half hour, and the ocean cliffs are a seven minute walk away. Trails for jogging and biking. Snorkeling areas in Kapoho Tide Pools and the Champagne Pools are a half hour away and uncrowded. You are a half hour from Hilo and its restaurants, markets, and old town magic.
There are farmers markets around, seven days a week and fish markets in Hilo. The town of Hilo is old Hawaii, making a come-back. There is even a Wal-Mart. Pahalo is a nearby town, old-western in appearance, with a quaint atmosphere, featuring Italian and Mexican restaurants. The town of Kea'au has a grocery store, video rental shop, café, and pharmacy.
A deck wraps-around the house, with a hammock. It's pitch black at night, and you can see stars you didn't know existed.
