Location: Wilmington, Southern Coast, Coastal, North Carolina, USA (Historic District)
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: Apartment
This unique property sits right on Front Street just on the edge of Wilmington’s beautiful historic district. It’s just one block away from the shops and café’s of bustling downtown Wilmington and within view of the Cape Fear River.
The apartment is the lower unit of an upstair/downstairs duplex. It measures 900 square feet with two bedrooms, one bath, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and a stackable washer and dryer. There is off street parking for guests. You can be completely self-contained, cooking your own fresh local seafood or stroll to many of Wilmington’s best restaurants within blocks.
You are right up the hill from the riverfront favorites of Chandler’s Wharf, The Pilot House and Elijah’s. You will be 20 minutes drive from Wrightsville Beach, 30 minutes from Carolina Beach and 45 minutes from the beaches of Brunswick County. So take your pick and enjoy a day on the beach. Then come home to enjoy downtown Wilmington’s legendary nightlife. And you will not have to bother with a cab ride home; you are already there.
Of course there’s golf and the battleship. There is the Henrietta II and the water taxi. There are horse drawn carriages and policemen on horseback. There are rooftop bars, basement bars, sofa bars, sidewalk café’s, riverside café’s, sushi, etc., etc. But I am guessing you knew all that already. So it is all here for you to enjoy and then return to a quite comfortable place to relax and recharge for another day.

We stayed in this rental in spring of 2009 and really enjoyed being within walking distance of everything - Chandler's Wharf, the riverfront, historic houses, great dining, etc. etc. The horse & carriage passed by the house a few times every day, which my young daughter really enjoyed, and it was fun to see "our house" while taking the carriage tour. The flowers at the end of March/beginning of April were truly spectacular - we enjoyed just walking around the immediate neighborhood and looking at the beautiful homes and gardens. It was also great to be able to walk out to dinner at night - we hardly used our car during our visit. This was our second vacation in Wilmington, and I have to say I enjoyed this trip much more because of the location of this home. Would definitely stay here again.

This was our first time using VRBO and would highly recommend it! This rental in particular was clean, well furnished (towels, laundry, dishes) and in an excellent location! The neighborhood is beautiful (picture; enormous, historical, old homes) and within walking distance to many restaurants, shops, museums, night life and of course the Cape Fear River! Wrightsville beach is also within 15 minutes drive! It was quite enough to accommodate our sleeping 8 month-old, and close enough for my husband to run and get us supper after bed time-- the ideal combination! Although, there were many kid friendly restaurants that we ate at as well- Elijah’s and The Reel Café. I “shopped” around quite a bit comparing hotels, and different rental properties. This rental was one of the best price per night that I found (we went at the end of March). It may not have had the nicest furniture (meaning-brand new) but the sheets were clean, bed was comfy and the bathroom was spotless. The ONLY reason I am not giving this property 5 stars is because the city was redoing the sidewalk outside which caused a plumbing issue in the apartment. The owner of the property handled the situation promptly but unfortunately we had to leave before it was able to be resolved. I would stay here again if our travels ever bring us back to Wilmington!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.
