Enjoy your stay at this peaceful, gently sloping lakefront property on quiet Mill Creek Cove just around the point from the remodeled Waterside (formerly Andersonville) Marina which is located just 7.5 miles northeast on Highway #61 from exit #122 on I-75. Norris Lake, with its 34,000 acres of blue-green pristine waters, spans more than 800 miles of shoreline.
The single-level 25+ year-old rustic house has a cozy den w/ceiling fan, a stone wood-burning fireplace (wood not provided), a sofa bed that sleeps two plus a day bed with a trundle that sleeps another two. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and antique furniture with a full bath beside it. One room with an antique double bed is on the lakeside and has a view of the lake; the third bedroom also has an antique double bed and a small windowseat with a cot sized mattress. There is a full bath between these two bedrooms. A large paved driveway in front of the house has room for several cars and boat trailers. The single car garage is not available.
In addition to a full-service kitchen and a separate laundry room, there is a bright, large sunroom facing the lake with a huge table (seats 10) for those fantastic family meals and a sofa bed that can sleep another two. Both the den and the sunroom open onto a large deck one-third of which is covered and has a porch swing, a second swing, hooks for a baby swing, and a ceiling fan. A stone-lined dirt path leads through the wooded back yard to a private dock with a ladder, a large umbrella for shade, and boat or wave-runner tie-off cletes. By September, the water has usually gone down enough that the dock is not floating. The water is usually high enough to float the dock again by April 1st. Please feel free to call or email to find out the dock situation if your vacation plans are for the late summer or early spring.
Waterside Marina, a very short walk though not visible from the house or dock, has a restaurant and small store. Although the Marina does not accommodate public boat launching, they do allow our renters to launch and drive around to our dock. However, you must park your vehicle and trailer back in our driveway. There is enough paved driveway space to park 3 trucks with trailers. The closest full service grocery store is only five miles away and there are a variety of restaurants near the interstate exit only seven miles away. Although many of the conveniences are within a few miles, the area is peaceful, wooded, and within a quiet, friendly neighborhood that has been established for over 30 years.
The house is 5 miles from Big Ridge State Park, 7 miles from Norris Dam State Park, and 6 miles from The Museum of Appalachia. Both parks offer wonderful activities including covered picnic areas, volleyball, softball, tennis courts, hiking trails, and a variety of playgrounds. The Chuck Swan Wildlife Management Area, a short boat ride from the house, is an undisturbed 25,000 acre wildlife preserve offering seasonal licensed hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, mountain bike riding, wildlife observation and photography.
The "Wood Duck Inn" is extremely accommodating to family gatherings or small groups and is a short drive from Knoxville. |
