At the highest crest in Bodega Harbour is my home, Owl's Nest Retreat. There you will be transported worlds away by sweeping ocean views that extend from Point Reyes to Bodega Head and onwards to dramatic sunsets on the Pacific Ocean. Located in the Bodega Harbour Community on California's breathtaking North Coast, Owl's Nest Retreat is a one-of-a-kind vacation home that will pamper your soul and soothe your senses with unparalled beauty.
This lovely home backs to a nature area where deer, rabbits and birds can be seen every day. With lush greenery in the front of your view and large expanses of ocean behind, you are just a short five-minute walk to an uncrowded beach where your neighbors are more likely to be seagulls than people.
Owl's Nest Retreat is also just minutes from The Links at Bodega Harbour, a 4-Star Golf Digest "Places to Play" course featuring some of the Northern California Coast's most scenic and challenging golf. The course is open for public play and its parking lot provides easy access to Doran Beach and the Bluewater Bistro Restaurant. Exceptional spas and winetasting are just a 15-20 minute drive.
This thoughtfully designed 3000+ square foot home features stunning water views from almost every room. The large, well-equipped kitchen is a cook's dream complete with double ovens, a warming drawer, microwave, two separate sinks, a five-burner touch panel stove, dishwasher and all the cooking gadgets you could want including a Cuisinart, blender, hand mixer, ice cream maker, and much more. All work surfaces face towards the water, so while cooking or doing dishes enjoy incredible ocean views.
Adjacent to the kitchen and dining table and living room is a separate bar area with seating for four and its own sink and SubZero with icemaker. The house features sitdown dining for eight at the main table, six at the breakfast nook and another four at the bar area for a total of 18.
Each bedroom is light, bright, airy and decorated with its own theme. All of the bedrooms feature queen-size beds and come complete with their own HD LCD DVD flat screen television as well as a Iphone/Ipod/FM clock radio with "soothing sounds" - you can pick between ocean, rainfall, brook or many more! In the Master Suite sip wine and watch the sunset over the ocean from the jetted tub, take a steam shower, settle into the rocking chair in the sitting area or simply relax out on the Master Suite's private deck - all (including the shower and even from the double sinks!) have endless views of the water. The Master Suite bathroom also has a vanity and separate room with a toilet, bidet and even a phone on the wall.
The living room features a 47" flat screen HD TV and a DVD, so you can relax, watch your favorite program in high definition and enjoy a roaring fire along with expansive ocean views. You can also get cozy in one of the two reading chairs, put your feet up and enjoy a novel from the over 100 book library that Owl's Nest Retreat has to offer its guests.
Downstairs is a spacious guest room/ gameroom with pool table (ping pong top available), a fireplace, television with DVD player, stereo, bar table, and comfortable seating for ten. With it's own full bathroom, and a roomy walk-in closet, this can also become the perfect fourth bedroom capable of sleeping 3, as the two sofas are sleepers. The queen size sleeper features a one-of-a-kind comfort platform design by American Leather which eliminates the metal and bars and sleeps comfortably like a real bed. The other is a traditional oversized twin sleeper.
Adjoining the 4th guestroom/ gameroom is a solarium with an indoor spa and rain shower. So you can come straight from the beach, shower off and jump into the indoor spa. All the downstairs rooms also feature amazing ocean views.
Owl's Nest Retreat has three different outdoor seating areas - the private Master Suite deck for two, the upstairs glass enclosed deck with table seating for four, two additional chairs, bench seating all around for 8+, and a barbecue with propane plumbed directly into the house. Newly added to the downstairs patio are sun lounges and an outside fireplace with seating for 8. The perfect spot for early morning coffee or evening star gazing. All, of course, with unparalleled ocean views.

Why the Owner Chose Bodega Bay
I picked Owl's Nest (or perhaps it picked me!) because of the views, and I picked Bodega Bay for its incredible beauty and magic. From my perch high above the harbour I can see the whitewater at Doran Beach, and then further from Bodega Head beyond to the Pacific sunsets. Occasionally I have seen whales spouting and even had a mama deer give birth to her baby right outside my window. On the greenbelt behind my home I frequently see bunnies, quail, fox and bobcats (they are harmless and really cute). My other favorite "greenbelt" and another reason I love Bodega Bay is The Links at Bodega Harbour. I love the golf course and think it is one of the prettiest anywhere. Other spots that make Bodega ideal for me is the short walk to the beach from my house, the longer strolls or runs at Doran Beach, and hiking at Bodega Head.
The Unique Benefits at this House
So a typical day at Owl's Nest Retreat is starting the day by gazing at the incredible views while sipping coffee. Then it coud be walking 5 minutes down to the beach for a stroll and tide pooling or maybe golfing and then to meet friends (new and old) at Gourmet Au Bay for wine tasting. Sometimes I will hike or go for a run and then come home and take a jacuzzi while looking out at the ocean. Then take a rain shower in the indoor solarium and then go upstairs to sit by the fire, either reading, listening to music or watching a movie. In the evenings I also enjoy entertaining my friends, and with the spacious kitchen with double ovens and a five-burner stove, plus lots of counter space - it is THE gathering spot - with room for a lot of cooks in the kitchen! Sometimes to round out the evening we'll all go downstairs for a rousing game of pool or ping-pong. But, I think my most favorite part of those evenings is to take a moment and step out of the room to just listen to the laughter - that is the real magic! - and there is always lots of it. For if nothing else, that's what lets me know that Owl's Nest Retreat truly is a treasure and Bodega Bay an amazingly special place!
A great wine bar owned by Sissy and Bob. Their deck is right on the Bay and they are really nice people.
A quarter pound of fresh crab served on warm bread makes one of the dreamiest taste treats you have ever had.
This amazing spot is free and one of the best whale watching spots around. There is a great walking/running loop that is almost entirely on the water. I saw a mama and baby whale right off the point
This place looks like a Denny's from the outside, but the food is great and the service is super. They are also open seven days a week for breakfast through dinner.
If you have never tried a chai latte, you really haven't lived. I take mine to Salmon Creek Beach to sip and watch the water.
You can pull your car right up and watch the waves break (and of course enjoy that chai latte!).
This beautiful, long stretch of flat beach is fabulous to walk, run or just fly a kite. The sandcastle building is also stellar!
Their upstairs bar room overlooks the 16th hole of the golf course, the beach and Bodega Head. The view is pretty amazing. I can't ever get enough of it!

If it is possible to fall in love with a house, then Owl's Nest Retreat had me at "hello". When I first walked up the stairs and saw the view and how gorgeous the house itself was, it literally took my breath away - and I knew this house and I were meant to be!! I am thrilled to share this most special place with travelers, and to know that Owl's Nest has been the site of many special and wonderful gatherings, celebrations and getaways. Over the years some of the nicest people have stayed at my home from all over the country, and their heartfelt thanks and messages are incredible - I read, cherish and save every single one! I take real pride in keeping my house fresh and lovely all the time - my team and I manage Owl's Nest personally to make sure each guest experience is special!

What a fantastic weekend for our girl's getaway. Your house is beautiful and we really enjoyed being in Bodega Bay. We started with sunshine, moved to rain and then woke up to a clear, sunny Sunday. You have thought of all the right details to make your place comfy and relaxing. The hot tub was a hit and we had a nice warm fire to keep us toasty warm. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home! We were nine of us and we could spread out in all your spaciousness without feeling on top of each other. We so enjoyed the common area. We had many singers in our group and had a fabulous concert one night. You have so many amenities, what a lot of thought you put into the comfort of your guests. Things our family appreciated about your special home: Jeff- I liked the blue & white towels by the hot tub Jana- Lots of windows and the light Huey - The view! The pictures don't do this home justice -- It was absolutely gorgeous. The view is amazing, what a sunset.... Our group consisted of mainly younger couples (mid 20s) and we all had a great time at the house. Not sure what else to say.... quit looking around and just book this place!!

Owl's Nest Resort was a perfect home for my family to stay here. The living room is a perfect place to gather and tell stories, and we brought two guitars and we all sang. The view of the ocean is amazing. My brother and his two daughters loved playing ping pong and pool downstairs where they stayed and loved that their room is next to the spa. We all especially enjoyed daily time in the spa...ahhhh... Stacy's home had so many windows to see the ocean and the trail down to the ocean was 1/2 mile and the trail is in such good condition. What impresses me about how the house is decorated. I could tell that Stacy took special care to put beautiful art on the walls, lovely comforters in each room, lovely other decorative items. Also Stacy sent us a great list of places to visit. This home was a special gather for my parents, brother, sister, spouses, and nieces. Wow... We love it!

First of all, working with HomeAway to book this perfect home was easy and painless. Communications from start to finish were as good as they could be....and so was this beautiful home. We booked this home for three couples on the weekend of the Bodega Bay Seafood, Art and Wine Festival...great friends, good times..... From the moment we opened the front door this home hits you with beauty, light (even in the fog) and open space. Even when looking out the windows to a blanket of coastal fog...it was beautiful and peaceful. The kitchen had all the dishes and pots and pans you could ever need. From coffee pot to expresso machine, to blender it was all there. The only thing we found it lacking was some cleaning supplies, i.e., windex. With the glass dinning tables and end tables it would have been nice to have some windex handy for cleaning. Also bring foil, plastic wrap and so on. We have rented homes before that have those items and assumed(which we should not have done) there would be some in the pantry... The master bedroom and bath are beautiful..with new carpet throughout (not pink like in photo)...my wife enjoyed the jetted tub and I found a wonderful hidden treasure in the master bath shower...it is also a "steam room". After my run in the morning, it was wonderful to sit and have a nice steam. The other two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom (Jack and Jill) and were perfect as well. Downstairs you can play pool, sit in the hot tub, watch some T.V. or step outside to the firepit.....perfect again. This home is very well maintained and clean in every corner. Would we rent this home again.....YES....and hope to again in the near future!! There are very few things in this world that are perfect....and this home is one of them.
