** Newfound Farmhouse is perfect for weddings and family reunions with two other vacation rentals on this 120 acre farm - out of sight and hearing - offerring accommodations up to 22 adults + more if there are newborns/infants **
General Property Description: My husband and I lived in this two story (1300 sq. ft. main floor) house for ten years and had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a bigger house further up the mountain once our son came along. We now manage the renting of this farm house. When you come to stay at Newfound Farmhouse you are staying in a piece of history, for not just the property is old, but the house is a grand old victorian lady approaching her 100th year. She will give you memories that no other place can bestow. Best of all it's all one floor living, as the upstairs is now closed off attic space. This 136 acre "bottom land" mountain property, originally farmed with dairy cattle, is wide open to a huge front hay field perfect for weddings, receptions and catered family reunions and BBQs (** See note above **). We loved having the "view with character" from the front deck as I have always thought. You see more than just tree-tops, there are trees on mountains, distant hay fields and pastures with grazing sheep that dot the landscape. It is one of the more interesting views I have ever seen. The change in season is more than just a difference in climate, it is also a change in the look and feel of this entire valley where this old farmstead is located, so it's always offering something new.
Provisions/Amenities: There are two bedrooms each with a queen-size bed, both hanging and folded storage for clothing, ceiling fan and bedside table with lamp and the one full bath is centrally located in the hallway. At the end of the hallway there is a bookcase with board games, children's toys for indoor and outdoor play. For those who may bring newborns/infants with them we offer a play-pen for infants/toddlers and a bassinet for sleeping accommodations for newborns/infants. There is also a high chair and booster seat for infants/toddlers for meals. (Play-pen and bassinet must be requested at time of reservation as they're stored at manager's residence). There is a huge country kitchen, which you enter into through the back door, down the hallway on the back side of the house which is fully equiped and seats 3 at the island. The adjacent dining room has views out of its multiple windows and seats 6. The living room in the front of the house offers the wonderful view and has satellite TV, combo VCR/DVD/CD player, two recliners and sleeper sofa. All necessities are provided to ease you into your vacation, such as linens, paper products and liquid soaps for all sinks and shower and coffee/coffee filters/dry creamer/sugar/sugar substitute, as well as offerring flavored teas.
Location: The 5.7 mile drive from I-40 to this property gives you a breathtaking overview of this quaint farming community. There is one of the most amazing photo taking opportunities on your descent down Newfound Mountain that can only be matched by the Blue Ridge Parkway. We're also located 8.7 miles west of the Asheville City Limits (via in-town roads) in the community of Newfound within the township of Leicester. One of only a handful of areas directly connected to Asheville, but we're the only area having it's own road connected to the middle of Asheville. Only 10 minutes to the city limits, 15 to the middle of Asheville, 20 minutes to downtown and 25 minutes to The Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway.
What To Do!?: Newfound Farmhouse itself offers board games, children's toys for indoor and outdoor play, combo DVD/VCR/CD player, satellite TV and yes lots of mountain property to walk and hike. Asheville's downtown - only a 20 minute drive - is packed with things to do - some seasonal festivals are held downtown such as Bele Chere - and see such as historical landmarks, life-size outdoor art and art galleries, lots of specialty shops filled with most anything imaginable by way of local and area artists. Several "studio tours" in the River Arts District and once a year in our very own Leicester. Downtown also offers live theater and amazing dining chosing anything from Thai, Indian, Mexican, vegetarian, mediteranean-American and good old southern (and some downtown eating establishments offer an outdoor cafe experience in good weather). Surrounding areas offer white-water rafting and tubing, hot air balooning, horse back riding and even more amazing restaurants and landmarks. Take your pick of what you want to discover and what you'd like your taste buds to savoir. Asheville truly has something for everyone!
I loved this old house and still think of it as part of our family and so we are glad to share it with you so you can take home the kind of memories that can only be made on a farm in the mountains.
