Property description

Built in 2005, Pierre de Lune 011 is a large (150 sq m) flat in a private chalet containing only 5 apartments. The 3 bedrooms are on the ground floor, two of which open onto the garden terrace through French windows. Decorated in wood and rustic plaster, with rugs on the floors and individually controlled heating, they can all be configured to your liking, as double or twin bedrooms. The third bedroom is the largest and is at the rear of the apartment. All rooms are en-suite, with one bathroom and two shower-rooms, decorated with rustic marble tiles and powerful showers. Bedding can be your choice of duvets or sheets and blankets. There is also a washing machine and dryer in the apartment. The communal areas have underfloor heating, regulated by thermostat ensuring you come home to a warm reception. Stone floors and rugs throughout add to the alpine experience, with subtle wood walls and furniture and wall lighting in living room.


A large flat screen television, connected to the cable network, mean you can keep abreast of current affairs or sporting events. A DVD player and DVD collection are also available, should a quiet moment be necessary, and there is broadband internet access throughout. An entry hall and upstairs loo make entertaining easy.

If you choose to self-cater the kitchen is brand new and fully fitted with all modern conveniences: 4 ceramic hobs; convection oven; micro-wave/ conventional oven combination; marble work surfaces; double sink; dishwasher; tall fridge freezer and breakfast bar.

The views are superb, and as good as anywhere in the village, uninterrupted across the valley. To maximise them, there is a large balcony from the sitting room, with enough room to seat a dinner party in the summer and a large garden with terrace, accessible from the balcony or bedrooms.

Pets are permitted, as long as this is mentioned at the time of booking and owners take full responsibility for them and accept liability for any damage they may cause.

If you self-drive there is parking for two cars in the underground car park, with lift access straight into the chalet.

Every chalet as an area for you to leave your bags of rubbish. For hygiene purpose please always take the rubbish to the designated area and do not leave in the apartment.

-The apartment is no-smoking, if you wish to smoke please use the balcony/terrace and used the ashtrays provide

-The ski locker is located next to the underground car park.

LOCATION
Pierre de Lune is 100m from Savoleyres lift station and on the arterial bus route between the village centre and Carrefour at the top of the resort. Access to the slopes can be achieved by a 2 minute walk to the Savoleyres lift, or by a 2 minute bus ride (the bus-stop is 50m from the chalet’s front door) to Carrefour and then straight onto the slopes below Ruinettes. For beginners, the nursery slopes of Les Esserts are a 5-minute walk or a short bus ride from Savoleyres to Le Hameau.

Shops and restaurants are all within easy reach at Le Hameau and the town centre is a 15-minute walk, a bus ride or a short drive away. At the end of a day’s skiing it is possible to ski to within 5 minutes’ walk of the flat at Le Hameau.

Unlike many Alpine resorts, Verbier was here before the skiing and commercialism took it over. As a result it has a village feel to it and a family-friendly atmosphere. There are children going to school in the mornings, the farmers feeding their livestock, and delivering fresh produce to the restaurants and shops, artisans conducting their trade and locals going about their daily business. All this gives the village a unique atmosphere, poles apart from the purpose-built resorts found elsewhere. A major plus point is the South facing aspect of the village, and reputation as a sun-trap. Located in a shallow bowl on the side of the mountain means that it lacks the temperature and shade disadvantages of a valley resort

The resort of Verbier is widely regarded as the Number 1 ski resort in Switzerland for the Alpine skier. With groomed pistes accessible to all, it is primarily suited to the fearless second-time skier, intermediates and experts. For BEGINNERS there are slopes in the village to start out on and the advantage is being able to retire to the warmth if it gets too cold – or stressful, and as the holiday, and your ability, progresses, you can advance to the higher reaches of the resort. Most restaurants are easily accessible regardless of ability, so there is no need to be left out of the fun if you are the fledgling skier in the party

Verbier is renowned as a playground for INTERMEDIATE and EXPERT skiers though, with a huge number of well-maintained pistes, affording you the choice of corduroy, bumps, steeps, deeps and jumps. If you want to cover miles the 4 Valleys lift system provides a perfect itinerary to blast from one end to the other, and back, in a day’s hard skiing. The challenges of Tortin and the Montfort lie ahead too, with breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc, Combins and Matterhorn massifs.

Although the pistes are where we all begin our skiing careers, the back-country, and OFF-PISTE deeps, steeps and POWDER are where we are all aiming for. Verbier is the number one resort for experiencing this in all its glory. With a vertical drop of over 2500m possible from the lift system, only Chamonix can match it for extent. For the sake of 10 minutes’ walk, you can enjoy untracked slopes for hours on end. There are a number of guides resident in Verbier, and for a group of you, this is the perfect way to avoid the masses and experience skiing as it is meant to be. For the less experienced, but aspirant, among you, why not have a lesson?
