Just returned from a week at the cottage and loved it. Only a short walk to the beach and very well stocked from the kitchen to the beach toys. The weather was perfect, not too hot, sunny and not humid this time of the year. We spent lots of time on the screened porch watching for rabbits that are abundant and so surprised to see a coyote making its way through the brush. Thanks for letting us bring our lab as she is part of the family and loves the beach and the water. We love the Ft Morgan area especially the pet friendly beach and will definitely return. Hope your cottage will be available on our next visit. We would highly recommend it to others.

This is by far the best pet friendly place we have stayed. Generally a pet friendly place is somewhat "stripped" down and void of any warmth and homey feeling. not this one! we loved this place! will certainly return in the spring....

A month in paradise

My wife and I spent a month at the Driftwood Cottage . . . and it felt just like home. The location was perfect with just a short walk to the beach. We have stayed at many "HomeAway" properties before, but this was the most comfortable and relaxing of them all. Plus, the price was right. We were there an entire month, but even that length of time was way too short. We hated to leave. But, we look forward to returning again some day.

We stayed here for a girls trip. There were six of us. All fit comfortably. The beach is amazing which is just a short walk away. The owners couldn't be nicer. They actually called just after we arrived to make sure everything was to our liking. The house is equipped with everything needed. The kitchen has everything you can imagine, even a blender and two coffee pots. There was even beach equipment including umbrellas and chairs. Too many nice things to mention and only one negative: Our stay was not long enough! Thanks so much for your wonderful property!

I grew up going to this particular beach as a child and loved the chance to take my three daughters and my wife. We had a blast playing on the beach, and the short walk was no issue even with 20 month old twins and a three year old! We are already planning to go back next year. The house is great, well appointed and extremely comfortable. We ended up spending most of our time on the porch listening to the waves and reading books. Very relaxing. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We can't wait to go back.

This was such a relaxing and pleasant stay! The cottage was so welcoming and our dogs had a great time. Everything was laid out for us and it was VERY clean, and my husband and I were both very impressed. The space was perfect for us. The price is beyond reasonable for what you get when you stay here. The owners are so nice and even checked to make sure our stay was everything we expected. We will definitely return with family, and hopefully be able to stay longer!

Great Cottage & Fabulous Beach

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at The Driftwood while celebrating a college graduation, 31 years of marriage and my birthday. The cottage was the perfect place to get away and celebrate. This cottage is everything as described and then some. The weather was great and the beach was awesome and just a short walk from the cottage. The seclusion of the cottage was so welcomed and each day on the beach was like having your own private beach. The location is far enough away from the busy tourist locations but close enough to venture out to should you wish. If you want a good meal just follow the recommendations provided by Mike and Janet for local restaurant choices. We tried them all and were not disappointed. Mike and Janet are great to deal with and extremely helpful and strive to make your trip enjoyable. All the beach trip necessities are furnished except for your bathing suit. The cottage is well furnished with a great beach decor and if you love to read as my wife does the screen porch is the location of choice for morning and afternoon ready sessions. If you are looking for a great place to stay at a wonderful beach and the opportunity to deal with outstanding owners then The Driftwood is the perfect choice!!! Thanks Mike and Janet!!! I would just like to say thank you Mike & Janet for a wonderful week at your beach home. It is everything you could want in a home away from home. The weather was great. It was Sampson and Scobby's (toy poodles) first trip to the beach and they loved it. They chased the birds, waves and even went swimming. Thanks for letting them go on vacation with us. We truly enjoyed staying at the cottage. It was so homey and comfortable, everything was provided, we really only needed to bring our clothes! The trail to the beach was beautiful, and there was noone around us, so we could play music and cut up and have a good time! We really hope to visit there again, thanks you so much!!

Mike & Janet- Despite Trpoical Storm Ida paying us a visit during our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed your home. As you can imagine, a rare November tropical storm brings with it a cold rain and wind. However, the wood-burning fireplace made it a cozy retreat indoors for those few days. We really enjoyed our morning coffee and evening cocktails in the crows nest- the sunrises/sunsets were spectacular from that vantage point- we got to see the big cruise ships pull out of Mobile Bay at night- they looked like huge lit-up Christmas trees from miles away. Thank you for letting us stay at your home- there is no false advertising here- it is just as you have listed. A true home- no pre-fab condo. We will be back!

We absolutely LOVE staying at Driftwood Cottage. It is very spacious. Also, it is convenient to the beach. Just a pleasant stroll to the ocean...no driving. Our children enjoy the crow's nest and we like the private, screened in back porch. (A nice place to enjoy your morning coffee) A true home away from home.I would highly recommend this rental house for your vacation.

Randy and I love it here. It is so peaceful. I really needed the peace this year! Love everything about this place. Oct 6 - 9 2009 Enjoyed three wonderful days here- wish we didn’t have to leave! The weather was great our entire stay. We went to the beach, on a dolphin cruise (awesome), to the Shrimp Festival, and shopping. We really enjoyed the privacy your home has, the trail to the beach was great and the screened in porch was awesome. We have been coming to Gulf Shores for years, and this makes our second year to stay in Ft. Morgan- we love it because our “babies” (dogs) get to go to the beach. Although we didn’t get to stay in the bedroom downstairs, it is so unique…. the landscaping was great as well. We never could get the wireless internet to work, and the guys said you need to switch the downstairs TV with the one upstairs. Your home is very cozy!Joe and Vickie V SmithROLL TIDE

After one bad on line rental experience,we were reluctant to try again,but after talking with the oweners,we were convinced to rent Driftwood Cottage.We are glad we did.The house is presented accurately on line.It is comfortably furnished in an eclectic style,without too much of a beach theme.For the times you want to cook in, the kitchen is fully furnished.The screened porch is a great place to just relax or read after spending time on the beach which is just a short walk away.The cottage is very private as there are no neighbors on either side.Does it sound as if we like this place? We do! Enough in fact to book it for our 40th anniveray.

We had an absolutely wonderful time ringing in the New Year at Driftwood Cottage! The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is also in a great location. We really enjoyed playing games in front of the fireplace and appreciated how close we were to the beach. We hope to come back to ride those bikes! It was a pleasure working with such an accomodating owner.

This was a wonderful, comfortable place to enjoy a low-key vacation. The short walk to the beach through the "secret garden" seems more like Tuscany than the AL Gulf. Each room had extra touches for comfort, and we especially loved the beautifully furnished porch. I would definitely return to this cottage!

This was my second time staying in the cottage, and it was great both times. The owners, Janet and Mike, make it so easy. Just drive up, unpack and unwind. It is exactly as advertised; close to but not on the beach, and everything you need is provided, including restaurant and local information. The cottage is perfect; clean and comfortable, with a well supplied kitchen. Janet and Mike were delightful, helpful, and friendly. I will definitely be back for a third visit sometime soon.

Our families favorite vacation place!

This is our families favorite vacation place. You feel like you are living on your own private island. The lot is secluded and the walk to the beach is short and beautiful. From sitting on the back porch to taking it easy atop the crows nest the atmosphere is excellent and quiet. The house is nice and well maintained and feels like a home away from home. While we are there escaping from reality my kids skim board and swim, my wife sunbathes and I fish off the beach. If you are looking for a private and relaxing get away from the fast pace world and some good alone or family time this is it. Barry

Beautiful home! We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend and had a spectacular time. House is well appointed and conveniently located to all area attractions. Beach is only short walk over dune. Highly recommend!

We visited in early November and had a great time! Weather, beaches, everything was beautiful. The house if perfect -- decorated like a "Southern Living" house, all the comforts of home, plus some. The top deck is a great place to eat shrimp & watch the sunset. We'll definitely be back!

We were thrilled to find such a unique and special weekend getaway for our last-minute trip! This house has everything you would need to feel at home and is perfect for a little R & R. The beach was close enough to walk in the morning, and to hear the surf at night. The captain's watch on top provides spectacular views of sunrises and sunsets. We plan to make this a regular trip!
