very pleasant small apt.

Guest: Meir Y. (-)

In a quiet residential area, minutes away from nice shopping center and tube station (Piccadilly line). The property was faithfully described and the owner was very cooperative. The British Museum is within easy walking distance, other atractions require transportation (tube , bus, other).

A wonderful experience!

Guest: PDX Traveler (Portland, OR)
Date of Stay: 12/21/11 Review Submitted: 01/01/12

My husband and I had such an amazingly lovely experience in London for our honeymoon, and staying at this flat made all the difference. Every aspect of the VRBO was pleasant - from booking, to arriving, to then having it as our landing pad while we ventured around the city. It was clean, comfortable, and so much more convenient than any hotel - we walked or took public transportation to every neighborhood/attraction we wanted to explore. Working with Judith and Antonia was also a joy! Absolutely no complaints. We would wholeheartedly recommend this flat to any friend or family member traveling to London and I'd be surprised if we ourselves ever stay at a hotel in future. Thank you, Judith and Antonia, for a wonderful experience in a great city!

Owner response:Thanks so much Annie for your kind comments...and so glad you had a fun honeymoon in our little flat in Bloomsbury!

Everything we hoped for

Guest: Patricia and Ian (Vancouver, BC, Canada)
Date of Stay: 11/20/11 Review Submitted: 12/12/11

Ideally situated on a quiet street in Bloomsbury, this flat is an attractive pied-a-terre for short-term residents in London. It is immediately clear upon arrival that the owners know what travellers require: a telephone, wi-fi, microwave, washer, dryer, dishwasher, nicely equipped kitchen, radio and TV, and umbrellas. Of course, basics such as towels and linen are also supplied and, perhaps best of all, a mini travel library of at least 50 London maps, pamphlets, and guidebooks. Two "in-house" books also provided helpful information, so have a look at these: the handbook put together by the owners, and the Guestbook in which you will find recommendations by previous visitors. It was a delight for us to be able to plan our day tranquilly, listening to BBC radio, and plotting our various walks and sights, without having to rush off to a hotel dining room for breakfast or worry about the housekeeping staff barging in on us at an inopportune time. We walked everywhere, making only occasional use of the buses and underground trains which pass conveniently nearby. And, at night, we visited various excellent neighbourhood pubs and restaurants without any worries about personal security. Thanks to the quiet location we slept well each night. We also appreciated dealing with the owners who responded promptly to all our queries and who refunded our deposit within two weeks of our departure. Antonia, who met us when we arrived at the flat, was full of helpful information and good recommendatinos for nearby restaurants. As there is still much for us to see and do in Bloomsbury and beyond, we hope to return again to this excellent flat. We have already recommended it to three other couples.

Owner response:Thank you so much Patricia for your kind comments. So glad you enjoyed London and appreciated our flat. Hope you'll come back soon!Judith

Great location with young kids

Guest: Cyndi (Virginia, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/12/11 Review Submitted: 06/28/11

We travelled with our two kids (7 and 10). They slept comfortably on the pullout couch. The flat is located close enough to all types of rail and it was a great base location for touring. Even late at night after an all-day trip to Paris the little one was able to walk home with little-to-no whining. The proximity to groceries is a huge plus and there are dozens of options for food within a quick walk. Having the ability to do wash, and thus pack lighter was a huge bonus. The kids loved playing in Coram Fields just around the corner. The flat is a great option for families. We found by the end of our trip that the bus was often faster than the underground, especially to Waterloo for day trips by rail. Well located for several major bus lines. We loved the ambiance of the old building and would love to come back another time. The rental process was seamless and worked well. Our first homestay and certainly not our last!

Great place for exploring London - we walked everywhere

Guest: Love_to_travel_65 (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)

Very quiet and nice neighbourhood. The bedroom faces the back yard. Three min walk to perfect grocery store with ready-made meals and 5 min to the underground. Ten min walk to British Museum which should be enjoyed in small daily portions. Well equipped in all respects but the kitchen is due for a thorough cleaning beyond "beween rentals". Excellent communication with the owners with tips and ideas on what what going on in London at the time we were there. Lots of up-to-date material in the apartment on London that was of benefit to us.

Perfect Location in London

Guest: Barbara9 (Tiburon, CA USA)
Date of Stay: 08/28/10 Review Submitted: 09/20/10

This flat is located in a central, convenient, but quiet and green, part of Bloomsbury. Handel Street is tree-lined, quiet, and dead-ends into a charming park that is little used; but the British Museum is only a 5-minute walk, the West End and Soho 20 minutes, and the Russell Square Tube stop just 2 blocks away. A block away is a small shopping center with a Waitrose supermarket, drug store, restaurants, and almost everything you might need. The flat itself has a comfortable bedroom facing away from the street; and the living room looks onto Handel Street. Highly recommended!

A Great Find in a Perfect London Location

Guest: David & Karen C. (San Francisco, California, USA)
Date of Stay: 08/18/10 Review Submitted: 08/23/10

Dear Judith: Karen and I have enjoyed immensely our stay in your wonderful Handel Street flat. We appreciate, not only the perfect location and stylish décor, but all the “traveler friendly” touches: the guidebooks and maps, the electrical adapters, the comfortable bed, the wireless internet access, and the well-stocked kitchen. The nearby Brunswick Center with its shops and Waitrose Supermarket provided everything we needed for breakfast and dinner. I was delighted to find prepared food that made our vacation kitchen tasks quite manageable. And I must mention the easy access to St Pancras Station and the Eurostar trains to Paris. Only a ten minute walk away and all England and the Continent are within easy reach. I can’t imagine a nicer find for a London stay. We’ll be back soon. Karen and David Crommie San Francisco

Excellent Apartment and Location

Guest: Ned (Las Vegas)
Date of Stay: 07/15/10 Review Submitted: 08/26/10

Everything about the apartment was excellent. Easy to get to on the Piccadilly Line to and from Heathrow. This proximity to the Tube (Piccadilly Line) made getting around London a real breeze. E-mail communications with Judith, the owner, were timely and friendly. The apartment itself was a great size. On a nice, calm street just one block from a grocery store. My children loved sleeping on the sofa bed while my wife and I were comfortable in the bedroom overlooking the courtyard. The kitchen was well-equipped and access to the washer/dryer was very nice. Our favorite part of the apartment were the three large windows that looked out onto the street. The high ceilings and light from the windows gave a wonderfully open feel to the living room and kitchen. We were greeted at the apartment by Antonia and she made us feel right at home. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Thank you, Judith, for such a lovely place.

Owner response:Thank you, so nice to hear your enjoyed your visit to H St!

Date of Stay: 06/13/10 Review Submitted: 07/22/10

This flat was in a perfect location. Close to the tube and the Brunswick shopping center with restaurants, Waitrose supermarket and even some clothes shopping. After huge sight seeing days in London (british museum very close) we were glad to return to the comy bed and non-european pillows- that were almost as good as our ones at home! We enjoyed our stay and will return again in the future. Overall fantastic flat and communication with owner (Judith) and Antonia who met us on a Sunday morning after our train arrived and was very helpful with her introduction to the flat. Thank-you!

Owner response:Thank you Linda for such a nice review. Lovely to have you and please come again!

My husband and I just returned from London yesterday, and had a great trip. This apartment was perfect for our stay, and we look forward to renting it again in the future. The proximity to tube stops, rail lines and great sites like The British Museum and the Dickens House make the location ideal. There is a fantastic grocery store one block away, and a 24 hour Tesco about 2 blocks away. We made coffee every morning in the French Press, and even had dinner in one night. The kitchen is easy to use, and has everything you need. It even has a dishwasher! The bed is comfortable and the bedroom is good size, with two small closets (one on either side of the bed) for hanging clothes (hangers provided). The bathroom is also great, with good water pressure. Overall, great apartment! Made our stay in London relaxing and peaceful, which is exactly what we wanted.

I can't imagine a better place to stay in London, and the price is less than many very average hotels. Both the beautiful apartment and the lovely neighborhood made us feel like privileged Londoners. Wherever we walked in "our neighborhood," we encountered history, culture, good food and drink, and tempting park benches.

This was the perfect accommodation for our family on our first trip abroad with our two boys, aged 11 and 13. The flat was quite comfortable and well equipped for all our needs, and the location couldn't have been better. Having the large Waitrose grocery store so close made it easy for us to pick up food and drinks in the morning for our daily trips out and about. Having the tube just around the corner made returning home in the late afternoon a breeze, and the loads of great restaurants within 5 to 15 minutes' walk meant that dinner was easy and convenient. And knowing how messy boys can be sometimes, it was good that a washing machine was close at hand had we needed it. Judith was full of great information leading up to our trip, and the book in the flat was also quite helpful. And Antonia (Judith's daughter who looks after the flat) was very quick to respond when we needed help with anything. We will highly recommend this flat to friends and family, and hope we'll be able to use it again on a future trip!

What a wonderful place to stay; quiet, but convenient. The apartment was very spacious, the private washer/dryer was a big help, and the bed and chairs very comfortable. Lots of good tips in the notebook in the apartment. All-in-all a great find, and we look forward to renting it again when we return to London.

This flat was in a perfect location. Close to the tube and the Brunswick shopping center with restaurants, and a great market. After exploring London all day we walked through the center and stopped at the market for items we needed for the next day. The pictures on vrbo were accurate and the bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the manual in the flat with great suggestions for restaurants, etc. We loved the Acorn restaurant. We are happy we chose this flat and would stay again in the future.

Great place. Close to the City for business and Soho and Covent Garden for fun. The apartment was clean, efficient, comfortable. Everything worked great. Terrific grocery store across the street in Brunswick Center. Great pubs nearby in Lambs Conduit and Russell Square. I was there on business by myself, but I would definitely bring my family back to this apartment.

We stayed in this flat September 2-9, 2007. It was our first time to London and we loved this flat. It is beautiful, great location and made our time in London more fun knowing we were coming back to this flat at the end of a long day of sightseeing. We began to think of this as 'our' flat in London! :) There are plenty of inexpensive, good places to eat nearby. Between those places to eat and eating in the flat, we saved quite a bit on our budget. The owner is wonderful to work with and very responsive. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Judith for such a wonderful place!!

Had a wonderful week at Handel St at the end of August. The description is perfect & I can only add that the location is quiet yet close to every needed facility. Across the road is a Medical Center that is only used by day so the living room is not overlooked from across the street. Will certainly stay there again. The owners are charming including their daughter who manages the flat in their absence. The Damage Deposit was returned promptly. Excellent choice for a London Flat.

The bed and sofabed were both very comfortable. Nearby is the British Library where you can pick up a good read. We would definitely go back.

Fantastic just doesn't seem quite good enough to describe this lovely flat! We recently stayed here mid-February 2007 for a theatre week and I can't imagine anything more perfect. Location was impeccable--just one block from the Russell Square tube (great for getting to Theatre Land) or two blocks from King's Cross/St. Pancras. The Waitrose grocery just across the street was amazingly convenient. Immaculately clean--everything was clean, new, and fresh, and a true joy to return to after a day/evening out and about. All the comforts of home--power shower, big comfy bed, towel warmer, washer/dryer. Everything available to make your stay luxurious! Great hosts--Judith is amazingly kind and helpful and Antonia is totally accessible for quesions/problems and simply lovely. As long as they let us keep coming back, we won't consider staying anywhere else in London!

A lovely flat, beautifully appointed. We loved the quiet street. It was terrific to walk to the British museum as well as excellent local shops, restaurants and food markets. It was an ideal place from which to access fabulous London. We found the Piccadilly Line from Russel Station, the quickest as well as the simplest way to travel from, and to the airport. We were delighted and wish to stay there when we next visit London.
