This is an amazing home. Anahola itself is amazing, but after long days at the beach, farmers markets and going on hikes it was so nice to come home to the Anahola house. 1st, everyones takes a warm rinse on the outdoor shower, then maybe a proper shower in the "family shower" to get the kids really clean. 2nd. Everyone gathers around the kitchen/bar/dining room and has a snack , 3rd. fire up the huge grill and cook some fresh Ahi Tuna! There were 8 of us with plenty of room. Games to play, bunk beds for my girls....perfect! We would wake up the next day ad do it all over again. The house has 4 boogie boards and TONS of snorkel gear. Kauai is so exciting, there is so much to do all day. It was really nice to come home and relax. The place is nice, but not so nice that you worry about breaking something of walk on egg shells. You can tell this family has kids and loves living Aloha.

Very nice place for a very reasonable price. If you've got 3-4 people in your party, you'll live and sleep like kings. If you've got 7-8 people, you'll live and sleep like kings with more people to enjoy the place with. It's about 20 minutes north of Kapaa, and has a great view of the mountains behind you and an easy quick cruise to the ocean. The owner is an awesome guy too. This is the way if you're coming to Kauaii.

Our family (three couples and a child) stayed for a week. The location was great for us, making it easy to drive to either North or South, depending on the weather and our interests. The yard and view of the mountains were gorgeous. The house was spacious and airy inside - EXACTLY as pictured and beautifully maintained. There was no air conditioning, but we found it unnecessary with fans and open windows; the house was extremely hot and stuffy when we first arrived (late afternoon), but we opened all the windows and enjoyed the lanai for an hour or so. After that, the house was very comfortable for the rest of our stay. The kitchen is fairly small, but well designed and stocked for great family meals. (A note of warning: in this part of the world, you have to be careful to clean up crumbs, not leave open packages of food out, etc, to avoid being overrun with ants. We had no problems in the kitchen, but we did find a few thousand ants under a towel that was laid on the floor in the bathroom - we didn't do THAT again, and we had no more ants! Overall, considering the location and the lush landscaping so close to the house, the lack of pests indicates that the owners are very proactive.) The washer and dryer were very convenient and worked great (seemed brand new). Hardwood floors throughout the house made it easy to clean as we went. The master bedroom and the nearest other bedroom were exceptionally comfortable. The third bedroom, set up with a queen bed and a twin bunk-bed set, worked really well for a couple and their child, although they found the large bed (an older mattress, starting to break-down/sag) to be less comfortable than in the other rooms and, for some reason, this room got some highway-noise during morning rush hour (not noticeable in the other rooms). Neither issue detracted from our overall love of the house, though! We found many toys, books, games and movies for children and families, as well as some beach gear -- all of which made our stay that much more perfect. The owner, Andy, was very helpful as we planned our trip and encouraged us to call with questions during our stay - we didn't need to, but it was nice to know he was available. All in all, we would certainly return and/or recommend this rental to friends and family. For families, we recommend the mini-golf in Kilauea (1/2 price coupons in books available all over the island). Also HIGHLY recommended is the massage therapist located a few doors down (her card is on the fridge).

This home is delightful. We found it exactly as described in the VRBO listing. It has a "living" fence all the way around the yard so it feels very private and cozy. The house is furnished very thoroughly...ample beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel equipment, cooler...all necessary tools for a great trip to the beach. The outside shower is handy. The kitchen is well equipped and nicely furnished...there is even a booster chair for the young ones! The location on the island is a big plus because there is so much to see and do on Kauai that being central was a big help. Andy is a great guy to deal with during the booking process and his caretaker for the property is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this house!!

My daughter and I enjoyed this nice large home with front porch views of the Pacific. The kitchen was nice and large and had good pots, pans and utensils for our use. Lots of beach towels were available and plenty of HOT water for showers after a day at the beach. The location is great for accessing many beaches, farmers markets, and the northshore as well as Lihue. The house is very comfortable, although traffic noise is pretty constant. The grounds are maintained beautifully.

We enjoyed staying at this beautiful home very much. It is well-appointed and comfortable, and in such a beautiful location with the view of the mountains. Although sited in a residential neighborhood, lovely plantings and gardens insure privacy. As it happened, out favorite beach on Kauai became Anahola Beach Park, just down the road. We enjoyed body surfing there, long walks on the beach, and watching the surfers. On our last afternoon an amazing young woman was out on a standup paddle board for over two hours! The house is exactly as represented: clean, the kitchen well-equipped, the bedrooms comfortable, and with beach chairs, towels, and beach toys. It is an easy drive from the airport, shopping, and restaurants. It is also convenient to beautiful beaches and hiking spots all over the island. The owners have created a great atmosphere for their guests, and were very responsive to our questions. We would rent it again in a heartbeat.

This beautiful and comfortable home, was just what we needed, to escape the pace of everyday life and decompress- island style! We were welcomed by a gorgeous and spacious landscaped yard, breathtaking views of Kong and the surrounding mountains, and all of the comforts and amenities of home. The layout of the home is very inviting, with a large open floor plan that looks out the the beautiful mountains behind. We enjoyed cooking family dinners, where everyone could be a a part of the kitchen without bumping elbows. We also had several wonderful sunset bbq's on the secluded deck. The proximity to so many perfect beaches, walking trails, and shops made this location ideal for taking advantage of all the island has to offer. Surfing, snorkeling, hiking or swimming with your keiki is just a short drive away! Our kids were especially delighted to find toys, books and beach gear awaiting our arrival, as well as a great outdoor shower, for rinsing away the days salt and sand! There really wasn't a single detail overlooked, in making this home feel welcoming, comfortable, and relaxing! We are already planning our return visit for next year! Mahalo Andy and Shona for being so accommodating, and providing such a wonderful home base for our vacation!

We had such an amazing time in Kauai this summer. Thank you so much Andy for renting this house to us. This house is so beautiful! We love looking at the Kong from the deck. We had all of our meals out on deck. Great location! We explored the entire island. Thanks for having everything in stock - you thought of everything; the beach chairs came in handy. We would definitely recommend your home. We love Kauai and hope to visit again! Wish we were there now. Thanks again!

We rented this house for 9 nights in late March. The house is very comfortably furnished. Good beds. Two good sized full baths. The living area is a big open space that encompasses the living, dining and kitchen areas. Very bright and airy, and roomy, even though the communal area is all one. We kept all the windows and sliding glass door open to take advantage of the great breezes. The kitchen had a great supply of cookware and appliances, and I must say in better shape than most rentals where we have stayed. Thanks to those who came before us for taking care of them and for the owner for providing quality kitchenware, The location is perfect. About equidistant from one end of the island to the other. There is a great view of Anahola Mt at the back of the house and a very distant view of the ocean from the front. Some highway noise, but it really quit at bedtime or before, so it didn't bother us much. We got used to hearing the local rooster just before dawn, and I actually miss him now that I am back home. Andy has a great home to share with those who come to Kauai who want to get away from the "touristy" areas and experience the real Kauai. We look forward to coming back here again.

We really enjoyed our time in this beautiful home. It is spacious, decorated in good taste, in a quiet area and very comfortable. There are lots of extra amenities that made our stay all the easier. It was also a great place for our children to be, lots of room to run around outside. The back deck has a great view. We were sad to leave!!

This was our second stay in this wonderful vacation home. It is spacious, airy and open, clean, and has a great layout for hanging out with family. We used the home as our base to explore the entire island, but it was especially convenient for going to the Northern and Eastern part. We love to cook and this kitchen served us well every night when we brought back our finds from the farmers markets and fish markets. There are also grocery stores close by in Kapaa. Andy the owner is very friendly. It was extremely easy to work with him and communicate with him by phone and email. We would definitely choose to stay in this home again.

We had a great time in Kauai and residing in your home during January 2011. We were looking for an escape from the frigid temperatures that Missouri can offer in the dead of winter. IT WORKED. This was our first trip to Kauai, but we don't expect it to be our last. The Island was beautiful and met all of our expectations. We did a lot of research prior to renting your house, but we don't think we could have made a better rental decision. We were totally satisfied with the house and all of the accommodations. We liked the location and felt it allowed us to go in any direction without a long commute. We knew that we would need to rent a vehicle to have access to all of the island's activities, so we were looking for a location on the island that would provide easy access to both the North and South ends of the Island. The web information and pictures were a true representation of the actual house. It was exactly what we were expecting it to be based on what we had seen on the internet. Thanks for making the rental experience so easy and all transactions with integrity. We will gladly recommend you and your house to our family and friends.

Dear Andy, Thank-you for renting us your home for our vacation in beautiful Kauai. Your house was perfectly located for all the things we had planned on the island. I must say that your kitchen was the best stocked of any house we have rented in the past! We also enjoyed the internet access and phone service to the mainland. We did have to cut our vacation short by one day due to the tropical storm that was suppose to hit Hawaii (it never did). But we had a great time anyway. Thanks again, Brenda & Jim Boyd

The house is spacious and welcoming. Location is nice since we spent some time in many places on the island-- close enough to the north end of the island to make the drive fairly easy but also convenient to groceries and restaurants in the large town of Kapaa on the east side as well. Kauai is a beautiful place!

we had a great time staying at this house. there were 6 of us and plenty of room. It is very well taken care of, and has a really nice kitchen. The location is beautiful (with amazing views of the mountains) and accessible to the north and east shores. It would have been hard to stay there without renting a car, but it kind of seems like all of Kauai is like that. Of course, it would have been nice to be able to walk to the beach, but there are plenty of beaches within very short driving distance. Also, Andy (the owner) was very nice in all my interactions with him before our stay. Thanks!

Dear Andy: Thank you so very much for making your vacation home available to us. The backyard was beautiful with flowers and the beautiful view of Kong Mountain was breathtaking. The view of the ocean with the sunrise looking out from the front deck reminds us of how beautiful God is. We loved the way your home was welcoming and all the accommodations to fit all of our needs. My children loved the fact that they had their own bedrooms. This was the first time we rented a home, we always rented a condo or hotel. Your home was perfect. This is the way to go. Kauai is one of the most beautiful of the Hawaii islands. Everything is so green and well cared for. One morning there was a rainbow that seemed like it was in the front yard, it was so close. We will recommend your home to all our family and friends! Thank you so much and God Bless you and your family. Mike & Vicky :o)

We had a great stay in Anahola! The house is spacious and well put together, and everything we needed was there. The open concept, kitchen, lanai and backyard (and Kong in the background) made it easy and ideal. The home is family and child-friendly and it back stopped a lovely vacation. It is also ideally situated on Kauai -- the location allows you easy access to the north and south ends of the island. This allows you to enjoy the coasts and beaches of both ends. Kauai is simply magical.

We stayed at the Anahola House the week after the Fourth of July and It could not have been more perfect! The location was ideal for visiting the North Shore and the Poipu area of the island. The house was very clean and had all the amenities we were looking for. It was so nice to wake up and see "kong" from the master bedroom every morning. The shower in the back yard was great for a quick rinse after a day at the beach. We loved the bathrooms too! We will definitly recommend the house to our friends and plan another visit ourselves in the future. NO MORE hotels or resorts for us!!

It was a much needed R&R after spending the last year finishing construction on our new home and working full time. I’ve included a couple pictures Cece took of the house. It’s a nice rainbow over the house. We would be interested in taking it for a 3-4 week period. What would be the cost and availability around the November timeframe? What a great place and what a great location. This house had so many great features and nice touches. The large kitchen was set up nicely for folks who love to cook. We prepared some fantastic meals there. There was plenty of room for our two families totaling four adults and four children all under nine years old. There were some awesome sunrise views and in the evenings we were treated to wonderful sunsets over Kalalea Mountain (King Kong.) This was a really comfortable place for all of us to stay and we all had a really hard time leaving. If/when we come back to Kauai I would love to come back to this Anahola home.
