This is an actual cottage not a house claiming to be one! located in Fair Play, the Heartland of El Dorado Wine Country. If you are looking for a romantic spot to spend some long deserved 'off time' this is the place! The cottage is newly renovated and shares a five-acre ranch property. It’s a spacious yet cozy wine country home, offering 860 Square Feet of living space with Hot Tub privileges, WIFI and a 43' flat screen for entertainment. The vaulted ceiling living room has a Tuscan Country feel and the dining area with antique ice cream parlor set seats four and is perfect for special occasion dining. The cottage has Shaw wide plank flooring giving a old country feel throughout. The master bedroom with King Iron four poster bed is tastefully decorated and features wall-to-wall luxury carpet and plenty of dresser and closet space for any travelers needs. The fully equipped kitchen provides all the needed wares for preparing and serving your specially planned meals, and don’t hesitate to use any of the specialty cooking oils and herbs left out for all visiting culinary artists.
The cottage décor is Wine Country and Sierra Mountain inspired, giving guests the true feel of the region. Completely furnished and equipped with all the comforts of a first class accommodation, your stay at the cottage is sure to leave you pleasantly surprised.
The property is heavily vegetated and dotted with granite rock outcroppings, huge walnut and cedar trees, as well as old stone walls that provide charm and ambiance to the grounds. Private and serene you can enjoy outdoor barbecuing in your private back yard, or just lounge under the trees and enjoy a glass of wine and a good book.
If you enjoy evening or morning walks you can head out the front gate to either side and pass along vineyard laden roadsides and various horse pastures. And for those that are inspired by walks with purpose you may even choose to stroll up to a vineyard to enjoy a tasting and or picnic!

There is an excellent supermarket (Holiday Market), a pizzaria and an asian restaurant in Pleasant Valley. Just go right on Mt Aukum Road, there about 10 minutes up the road.

You have to go through Placerville to get to Apple Hill, Placerville 'Old hang Town' is great to walk! shops, galleries and antique stores.

Placerville is only (say a 20 minute drive) from the cottage. Apple Hill is just next to (or actually part of) Placerville area.
My favorite restaurant in Downtown Placerville is Powells Steamer House-Get the Oyster Pan Roast-on Sundays they usually have a little Jazz Trio. The Sequoia is nice also...its historic and its nice to sit on porch for lunch! for quick food 'Z-Pie' is great on a side street down from Powells on Main.
My favorite winery in Apple Hill is Boeger (on the El Dorado Wine Trail) see maps at cottage in basket! Madrona and Lava Cap are great too. Get an apple pie at Boa Vista Orchards!
If you have more time go through Shenandoah Valley/Amador wine regions and even on to Sutter Creek, there are maps in cottage to this area, and its only 30 minutes away. There are some fabulous new wineries being built in this region.
Ski and board in Lake Tahoe, the closest is Sierra at Tahoe Just a 50 minute drive.
Go to Old Town Folsom for lunch and walk the old time streets. Hop Sing Palace is the best Asian food I have ever had!

My husband and I, and our two large dogs, visited relatives in Somerset, California. We needed a dog-friendly place to stay and happened upon this home. It was beautifully appointed, offered treats and snacks in the kitchen free of charge, and was as comfortable to stay in as a friend's home. I would highly recommend this cottage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

I stayed at The Cottage at Perry Creek while taking care of some business in the area. My dog came with me, and at the end of the time, my husband joined us. The cottage is cozy and comfortable, and the kitchen is fully equipped. There are horses and another dog on the property, and for the little time we had to actually relax, it was wonderful! There are so many wineries close by, and Nancy has thoughtfully provided great information information about the area. There are also games, a TV, and stereo to wind down after a full day. An excellent value for the money!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Come be my guest and let me help you and yours to a most enjoyable vacation experience. If you like come pet the horses B.W. and Cody 'Big Boy'. You can see them gallivanting about through the cottage windows. They love to get attention so bring some carrots or apples.
Why the Owner Chose Fair Play:
I love wine and I love horses. This area has over 45 wineries to visit, and horse ranches everywhere. The weather is wonderful and the countryside beautiful. I also love to ski in Tahoe for the day or go to San Francisco overnight, everything I love is so close yet we are tucked away from the bustle.

You can walk to Perry Creek and Windwalker wineries! The roadways are rolling so taking walks along the Fair Play 'wine loop' is easy for anyone.
