Rumah Cinta, meaning the House Made of Love, sits atop a ridge at the edge of Ubud, close to the Camphuan Hotel. From the third story tower, you can see the sunrise, the sunset, all the volcanoes on the island, and the sea to the south. The rooms are large and airy, with large windows and doors that slide back to let the breezes through. The two downstairs bathrooms are in lovely outdoor garden settings, with statuary and water features.
The second-floor master bedroom, which faces west for beautiful evening skies, has a deck, a garden, an outdoor bathroom with a tub, and a stairway access to the tower and rooftop viewing area.
The first floor living room is large and beautifully furnished, with a small but efficient kitchen, equipped with some cooking utensils and dishes, though the Balinese are such good cooks, you should rarely cook for yourself, and a comfortable reading and lounging area off to the side, with a view of the gardens and pool. Please note that while the lounging beds are large enough to be slept on, they do not have mosquito netting.
Artistic touches are everywhere you look, both in the house and out. There are paintings by local artists, Indonesian carvings, carved wood and concrete around windows and doors, high thatched ceilings and beautiful rock and tile work, all hand done.
Some of the real beauty is outside, where the gardens are beautifully tended, two temples protect the property, and the infinity-edge swimming pool offers a cool, calm retreat both daytime and at night. There are a toilet and a shower by the pool, in addition to the 4 bathrooms inside the house.

Why the Owner Chose Ubud
Bali is the sweetest place on earth, so when our Balinese friend wanted to build us a house, we said YES!! While we expected a simple Balinese two-bedroom house, he instead built us a 3-bedroom estate with gorgeous gardens and the perfect infinity-edge pool. We are still astonished by its beauty.

I can't add anything further to what pervious reviewers have mentioned, other then it's all so very true. Unbelievable beauty inside and out, perfect location. Close enough to everything yet far enough away for peace and tranquility. The manager Ketut and his wife Made (and his mom) made us feel as part of their family....very warm and friendly. We won't consider staying anywhere else while in Bali....

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Rumah Cinta in October 2010. This home is spacious, beautifully furnished, and we did not regret our choice even once, even when climbing the steps from the road. The infinity pool, the many day bed options beside the pool, on the terrace and inside the house were all standout features for us. The photos do not do full justice to the property and you should get the video walkthrough of the property to appreciate all it has to offer. Ketut and Made were always helpful, delivering us tasty breakfasts and evening meals most days. There is no traffic noise, just the sound of roosters crowing to wake you early morning.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

Pictures do not do this place justice. The most beautiful place we stayed while in Bali. The staff were amazing, everything was perfect, it really is a little piece of paradise. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We just loved the infinity pool and being able to swim when we returned from dinner late each evening. Made and Ketut made us feel welcome. The house is spacious (our bedroom was HUGE) and nicely decorated. The location is so peaceful, whilst walking distance to many of our favourite restaurants including Indus, Naughty Nuri's, Murni's, and Cafe Artiste. Ibu Putih’s Warung is super close (either Made brought our breakfast from there, or we ate it at the warung). It's also a short walk to Antonio Blanco's museum. Walking into Monkey Forest Road is do-able, but there's plenty of transport at the bottom of the steps if you're not a walker. The surrounding pathways make for interesting morning walks. The steps can be challenging if it is a hot day, but well worth the effort (and my friends said it gave them licence to eat dessert). We hope to return someday!

My daughter & I were so at home in the delightful Rumah Cinta. Staying in to enjoy the magic of the pool & gardens was often our choice over exploring Ubud. We were able to experience, if only temporarily how it would be to live in Paradise. Ketut and Madee and the whole family were a delight. A truly memorable and hopefully repeatable experience. Such value and real pleasure was a magical find.

thank you so much for a wonderful time. we had so much fun while staying in your beautiful home. everything was within walking distance: the grocery store, shopping, and restaurants. by the end of our stay, i didn't even mind all the stairs too much. i knew there were stairs, i just didn't know how many stairs there would be. note to self, pack lighter and use a backpack. the compound was absolutely amazing and very neatly kept. i loved the walk thru the rice patties to the grocery store. thanks again for making our vacation flawless.
