Our time spent here at Calcinaia was absolutely wonderful. It provided the perfect home base from which to explore the wonders of Italy. We particularly enjoyed the well stocked kitchen. The views throughout the property were breath taking. The caretakers, Ben and Marcello were available to address all our needs. They also provided useful suggestions for our daily excursions. Our visits to Assisi, Siena, Cortona, Florence & Sansepolcro were all enjoyable, each offering its own memory. The highlight of our visit to Calciaia were the two evening meals cooked by local chefs Gabriella ad Linda. Not only were the meals delicious, the left overs provided us excellent cuisine for lunches and dinners throughout the week. I cannot say enough positive things about out visit to Italy and Calcinaia. We would love to return someday and will recommend the villa to our friends. Thank you Robert & Sarah for a memorable Italy vacation. Your hospitality along with your gracious caretakersm Ben and Marcello, has been greatly appreciated.

Calcinaia is by far the most beautiful holiday home and location we have ever stayed in – such tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. We loved the views, particularly across the lake. The house has so much character – we loved the staircase and really appreciated the comfortable beds. The swimming pool was very inviting and perfect for cooling off in the heat of the day. We enjoyed visiting Anghiari – particularly walking the narrow streets in the evening, Sansepolcro and Siena – Well worth the drive. We have eaten delicious food, had great company and generally had a wonderful time. Thank you Robert & Sarah for such a relaxing memorable holiday.

The children are having a perfect vacation ‘sans’ electronics and tv, just enjoying playing outside. The adults are enjoying the peace of mind good wine and great company. Thank Robert and Sarah ps looking forward to returning next year

We’ve has a wonderful week here at your beautiful property. The weather has been kind to us, the surrounding area is breath taking. We enjoyed lazy days by the pool and wonderful cuisine in the resturants recommended by the ‘house book’ particularly contini de granduca and Di Alighiro tucked away in the winding back streets for Anghiari. We’ll take fond memories to go with the many pictures we took of the area and hope to return someday…..

This is the first time that our three generations with all the babies have set up “temporary” home together and we have chosen Calcinia which has turned out to be surprising pleasant for us all. The privacy of the house and the grounds, were fantastic /……………………..

Calcinaia was a great decision for our holiday. Away from the crowds of central Tuscany, we loved the quietness of the property and the beauty of the area. Anghiari was sensational, and Da Alighiero in the old town provided out best restaurant experience in Italy and France. The home is gorgeous and the pool was a treat. Ah, one last piece of advice; book chef Barbara to come to Calcinaia to make you dinner featuring the food and wine from her farm. For an amazing, magical evening we paid about half of what we expected to pay ! Giao e grazie

Thank you for sharing Calcinaia with us. We truly enjoyed out stay, although it passed by much too fast. We were torn between the sights of central Italy and relaxing at Calcinaia. We did day trips to Lucca, Pisa, Volterra, Florenceand Siena. Our favourites were Volterra and Siena. Both wonderful cities. We also very much enjoyed a winery experience in Gaiole and enjoyed wondering around Anghiari. Now on to Rome……..

We enjoyed Calcinaia so much; it was very painful to leave. What a delightful town Anghiari is and exquisite surprise. We enjoyed one of the best meals ever at Cantina del Granduca and just revelled with Eugene, in the wonderful ambience and meal be brought us. Ben was prompt and willingly met our needs. We managed day trips, between relaxing days around the pool, which was both served to excite and sooth our spirit for adventure, history, ad the sweetness of rest. Thank you for your classical CD. It was played many times. I wish I had carried some from home. We loved reading “your story” about Calcinaia in the articles you provided. What a journey. Our memories here will remain inspirational. Respectfully --------

Let me start off by saying a quick and obvious statement: the Calcinaia is beautiful. If you are reading this I’m sure you already know, but in case you didn’t, now you know. We lucked out with both the weather and finding the Calcinaia, both complimenting each other and creating such beauty. As far as our stay, it was fabulous. A few days we stayed and relaxed at the Calcinaia, lounging by the pool and feasting in the cozy kitchen. All the other days were spent away from this paradise unfortunately, but was still fun. We took day trips to the well known places of Tuscany, Florence, Siena, Anghiari, Montalcino. We all loved Siena and Anghiari the most. Both were quiet and rustic, with little hussle and bussle. If you happen to go to Siena I recommend a tour guide, whether group or private. You learn so much more than you would from wandering the streets. Anghiari is also a must, with such short drive time and amazing scenery you would regret it if you don’t visit. The Calcinaia felt like home to us for a week and the beds were a welcome sight to aching feet. Comfortable and quiet, except for the symphony of nature, the Calcinaia was well loved. And to solve the problem of the path, it is not on the property, but next to. You must go through the gate to the top of that evilly sharp hill. To the left is a gravel path, follow it downwards and always stay on the left path. Eventually the lake comes to view. Overall, a paradise on Earth with soothing ambience and historic places near it, it’s not hard to enjoy such a stay. Enjoy this paradise as we did. P.S If you are in Siena and crave the best gelato we’ve tasted, head to Nanninni. It’s a fabulous geletaria and bakery (pastries). Yum!

Calcinaia has been the perfect get away for six congenial adults. Wonderful food, wonderful day trips, wonderful camaraderie. We have loved out day trips to Anghiari, Arezzo, Cortona & Siena. Highlight may be without question, dinner made for us by Barbara – with her husband’s Tuscany wine. Thanks to Robert & Ben for their wonderful care. We envy all who are still to come.

What a wonderful week it’s been, and this house has been perfect. The layout is excellent for both communing with friends and plenty of privacy as well. Such a lovely setting! And Barbara was the most delightful chef. The meal she made for us was a wonderful experience. She put us all at ease with sweet presence. It been an ideal place to vacation.
