This is a beautiful place. The location is outstanding; the home is clean, bright, and well maintained. The colors are bright and the the back of the house is a wall of windows on both stories. The entire back of the house is unobstructed "ocean view". There is no peaking over rooftops, beyond telephone lines, or through moving traffic to see a speck of water. We grilled dinner at night while seals entertained us in the surf. We saw a few boats and there were some folks walking their dogs along the beach. It was just so private. The house is in a quiet residential area that has irs own herd of deer. With these vacation rentals, you never exactly know the condition of the house until you step inside. Beach homes are a challenge because of the sun and salt water. This house was extremely well maintained. There was fresh paint; no sticky window; no warped boards. We enjoyed a couple trips to the Passo Robles wine area. We drove up to Big Sur and took so many pictures along the way. We drove down to Morro Bay and had lunch by the ocean. The best thing about each day of our vacation was was beginning and ending it at Waters Edge. As I begin the last day of my vacation, I sit at the kitchen table watching the tide roll out, and write this review. It will be so hard to leave tomorrow. I would love to come back.Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: We are so glad you had an enjoyable experience at Waters Edge! We make every effort to maintain the house at our high standards. We are able to accomplish that through our excellent management team and the professionals we hire. We hope you are able to return to the house soon for another pleasurable stay. Thank you for sharing your positive review!

my family had experienced a traumatic incident at the beginnning of summer 2010. this property was suggested to us as a getaway for possible healing, because of its serenity. what a PERFECT PERFECT destination. the 4 days we spent here were quiet and beautiful. the weather was lovely. the ammenities very home-like. this gorgeous house offered us time away and time to reconnect with purpose. the layout of the house was optimal for a constant view of the ocean. within a short walking distance is a lovely coastal hike. within a very short drive is a quiet little town with many wonderful places to dine or shop. harmony winery was enjoyable. thank you for a destination location that we will absolutely return to and anxiously look forward to.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

My two visits to this property were both wonderful! I went with girlfriends the first time, and with my family the second time (this past Mother's Day week end). All six of us (family) were very comfortable in this spacious home. It was clean, well appointed, all amenities in working order. You can't beat the location: spectacular view, close to the headlands walking trails, a quick drive into town. All you need to bring is your hat and walking shoes, sunscreen and favorite book.... it was 'just what the doctor ordered'.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We spent a wonderful 25th anniversary at this house for 3 days. The view, the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below and the moon shining off the ocean at night made it a romantic experience for us. We found the house to be clean with all the creature comforts that we were looking for including a luxurious master bedroom with master bath. We enjoyed sitting in the living room looking out over the ocean. The house had what we needed to be able to feel like we were at home. It was clean, neat, and not cluttered with unneeded objects. It just felt perfect for a much needed vacation to celebrate our anniversary. The area is beautiful and taking long walks along the ocean cliffs made it perfect! And anyone that wants to enjoy wine tasting in the Paso Robles region, this is a great location to be a base for taking off. I would recommend the location, the home, and the area to anyone that is looking to get away from the rat race to enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of this home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I've stayed at this property twice and found it to be a delightful, relaxing experience. The views of the rocky coastline transform your mood from hectic workweek to a weekend of tranquility and peace. The house has always been clean and I was very satisfied with the furnishings and the other amenities Wandering through the town of Cambria about 10 minutes away and sampling the unique restaurants adds to the charm. I would highly recommend this property to couples or for a girls getaway..Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

I have stayed at this property twice and each time found it to be exactly what I needed to allow me to unwind from city life and still be close to a lovely small town with excellent restaurants and interesting shopping. The house has very comfortable beds and large rooms and unbeatable views. It is perched above the ocean and you can see the waves forming and crashing below. You have full on views from 2 bedrooms and the kitchen and living room/dining room. The modern kitchen has everything you need to cook full course meals if that is what you want to do. The bathrooms are also large. The master has a rich feel. Everything you need or didn't even know you needed is at arms length throughout the house. I found the house spotless in all aspects. Everything had been thoroughly cleaned before our visit. I would definitely recommend this home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Floor plan and view is superb: However, owner maintainence is lacking. Roof leaks as evident by stains in master BR ceiling and water dripping from smoke detector during rain storm. Some windows are inoperable due to faulty mechanics. White stairway carpet badly soiled, and walls need repainting. Stereo faulty (volume will only increase)., Patio doors etched/frosted over from salt water, interior walls need painting. A gas grill was advertised, but reality is a cheap coal grill. Exhaust fan on stove does not work and cookware is marginal at best. Wine glasses are a "thrift shop" mish mosh unbefitting the cost and location of the property. There is mold in both upstairs showers and a couple of light bulbs out in the master BR. Living room furniture is badly faded. An annoying dog next door begins barking at 3:30 each day and continues until after 5 p m. Owner obviously does not care. I give the 4 bag rating on the view and floor plan only.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Our home has never received a bad review before, but we appreciate honest criticism and plan to make improvements based on the recommendations of our guests. Grill: We have bought several grills and had each repaired innumerable times, but due to the salt air, it becomes impossible to open the gas valves on the grills. Rather than risk that the grill won't work when guests arrive, we keep a charcoal grill available. We should have, and will, remove the gas grill from the list of advertised features. Carpet: It may be time to replace the carpet. Thanks for telling us.. Wine glasses: We have bought some new wine glasses for our guests to enjoy the wines they buy at the Central Coast wineries nearby. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. Patio doors: We are looking into replacing the salt-etched, glass, patio doors that lead to the backyard if our 2011 budget allows. A home directly on the ocean provides a fantastic experience, but there it is a constant struggle to keep everything pristine. Kitchen items: In a rental property it is not unusual for items to get broken, damaged or disappear. We try to keep up with purchasing frequent replacement of kitchen items. The Guests called our management company requesting cookie sheets, a blender and repair of the oven. The manager on duty immediately went and bought cookies sheets and a blender and delivered them to the Olsons at the house. She also arranged for a repairman to go immediately to the house regarding the oven. Mold in the Shower: A cleaning service cleans each home thoroughly prior to the arrival of each guest. They found no evidence of mold, but we asked them to be more diligent in the future. Windows: There are operable windows for ventilation in each room and there should be a sign in front of the inoperable windows saying "please do not open the window". New signs will be placed. Roof and walls: Repair on the roof began on Nov. 1 just a few hours after the Guests departed. A brand new roof was installed and the necessary painting was completed by Nov. 3. Unusually heavy rains this fall resulted in leaks in our roof and water damage to the ceiling and walls. We considered the option of canceling the Olson's visit to our home in order to make the needed repairs sooner. But, in consultation with our management, we decided to put off the repairs until after the Guests had an opportunity to enjoy their vacation and experience the fantastic view. In ret

We have stayed here several times over the years, primarily at christmas but also in spring. Waking up in the morning to the ocean view from the 2d floor picture window is what makes this house special. The owners just put out new patio fiurnature. We rarely go to a resturant. Friday afternoon's farmer's market with BBQ and Linn's pies for dinner with a view that can't be beat. why would you go to a resturaunt.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1993
About the owner: Sheila and David both grew up outside Washington, DC and went to schools in the east coast. In 1974, we moved to Southern California and have lived there ever since. Why?...the weather!!! 'Water's Edge', our house in Cambria, is a wonderful place to escape to for R&R!
Why the Owner Chose Cambria:
At the time we purchased the land and built our house in Cambria, it was one of the few affordable oceanfront properties in California. It was an investment for our future.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Open the front door and there's the ocean...beautiful, exciting and yet calming.
The neighborhood is very quiet, which offers privacy and a great place to relax.
We love to walk! We pretty much walk everywhere. From our house we walk the bluff and into the downtown of Cambria or to Moonstone Beach.
Entrance to the beach is 3 houses away if we want to check out the tide pools.
We'll drive 15 minutes to see the Elephant Seals or 20 minutes to the Paso Robles wineries.
If we want the advantages of a bigger town, we'll drive 40 minutes to San Luis Obispo.
The skies are so clear sometimes, that at night we just stand outside to view dozens to hundreds of stars. Or we stare at the ocean for hours night and/or day mesmerized by the sound and sight of crashing waves.
