Location: Hull Bay, Northside, USVI - St. Thomas, Caribbean (On Tropaco Point, Less than a mile from Hull Bay.) View Map
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)
Keywords: Apartment
Perched just thirty feet over the ocean, this tastefully decorated apartment - which is actually the first floor of a two-story house - has the feel of being on a yacht (the owners are husband and wife who worked in the yachting world for many years).
Situated on Tropaco Point on St.Thomas'northside, overlooking Hull Bay,with views extending to the south, west and north, Hidden Cove is a breath-taking, special place for those searching for something out of the ordinary.
From your off-street parking area, a private entrance leads down a staircase to a lighted garden path and your "land yacht." Everything you need awaits. A slim, covered deck fronts the length of the apartment with a larger, open area for dining. You can easily while away time watching surfers, clouds, pelicans diving, sugar birds flitting about and the sea. Sleep to the sound of the surf in the mahogany, queen-size sleigh bed. Ample storage space is provided by a closet, antique armoire and bureau.
Sip your morning beverage at the dining table or outside on the deck under the umbrella. Relax in the attractive sitting area and watch cable TV, a DVD, read, nap or listen to music. Terra cotta tiles and ceiling fans throughout are cooling and comforting.
In the sumptuous bath you shower on river-stones while gazing out to sea. The kitchen meets any chef's requirements with gas range, microwave, Cuisinart cookware---everything you need to make a meal, large or small. If you enjoy cooking, this "galley" could inspire you.
Stone steps wind down through our terraced half-acre and end at the "hidden cove." Halfway down the steps sit two large wooden decks---one for shade, one for sun. Once at the cove, with surf conditions permitting, you can climb down the rocks into waist-high water to swim or snorkel on the reef and beyond. Some of the best snorkeling off the coast of St. Thomas lies just beneath your hideaway.
Hull Bay beach, less than a mile away, provides an invigorating ten-minute walk or a three-minute drive. Well known Magens Bay, just to the east, is about a 15-minute drive. We provide beach towels, chairs, beach bags, cooler and snorkel gear ...just bring your swim suits.
We will meet you at the airport and lead you to the property. A complimentary bottle of Cruzan rum, and bottled water, for the length of your stay, are provided as well. We use only earth-friendly cleaning and laundry products.
Hidden Cove---a romantic, peaceful, out-of-the-way spot for two---a one-of-a-kind sanctuary in the Caribbean.

A piece of paradise

My husband says there's no such thing as paradise. Having just returned from two weeks at Hidden Cove, this is certainly my idea of paradise. Whether it was sitting on one of the three decks overlooking the beautiful turqouise waters of Hull Bay or listening to the sounds of the waves in bed at night, you couldn't ask for a better place to unwind. Our host, Joe, was unobtrusive but very responsive when we needed something, offering tips on restaurants as well as good places for me to run. There are lots of places available for rent in the Caribbean but not many where you can be washing your hair in a beautiful glass enclosed shower while looking down at the waves. We hope to come back again next year. Thanks Joe for everything. Bruce & Gael Gilmore

The Best Hideaway on the Island

Just relax and listen to the waves crash on the shore. This hideaway is totally private, with snorkeling (surf permitting), both decks, sun and shade, and every window presents a breathtaking view of the bay including the shower. Has full kitchen, but is a stones throw from food and drinks. We got a massage on the shade deck (info available when you get there) listening to the sound of the sea. We stayed at a couple other places on the island, and it can be a very busy place. Here you can be close enough to be in the heart of things, but feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle. PS - The Northside Bistro and Thirteen are EXCELLENT places for great food and drink nearby.

We spent an entire week in st thomas, at the hiden cove, and no doubt it was the best choice ever! The place is magical, everything was awsome, joe was so kind and sweet to us, making everything work out perfectly, even we arriving at the airport late nite! All i have to say that its a magical place, since even you walk to the path of it, passing by the awsome view of hullbay in the background, having the chill seats (dont miss having a wine during the sunset with your loved one there!). The room... is out of words to say, the surf of the waves, the view.. its just undescribable!! We definitely would come back at any time! we had the best time ever!!

Where to even begin? We are writing this on about 3 hours sleep and some serious cross country jet lag- the very best time for glowing reviews. We threw a dart at a map, emailed Carol, LOVED her, and picked Hidden Cove for our vacation. Our trip was Sunday to Sunday; usually plenty of time to take in sun and sights and locals. Not for us. We were just getting started. We spent our last day begging with the airline to try and give us a break on cheap flight changes....but sadly no. So just do yourselves a favor and spend every last penny to get here as long as possible. The property is so beautiful. Terraced all the way down to the cove, tons of vegetation (a pineapple!), Iguanas, pelicans, hermit crabs, amazing flowers. Photos and words just do not do this place justice. Every morning/afternoon/evening we sat on our deck, beverage in hand, and mused lazily over where to spend the next segment of each amazing day. From any room in the house you can see deep, clear ocean. In fact, from bed you dont even have to sit up, just kind of roll to the side and prop one eye open. Sidenote: The house gets full day beautiful sunlight, and each room is truly spotless. If it's your first time, don't let the distance or driving be a factor. Its really only a 15 minute drive to town- at best. And driving actually becomes quite fun once you figure out that stops signs have a success rate of about 60%. Plus, a wise woman told us "All of the roads lead home." and...she was right on several occasions. This was WAY better than being crampped in a hotel room. At least this felt like our home away, thanks to Carol and Joe.Carol and Joe take the cake. We just adored them through email, but to meet them in person was like meeting up with old friends who you just havent seen in a while. They are warm, intuitive and both so hilarious. They made us feel beyond welcome...and it was so very hard to leave. I (the girl) became slightly misty-eyed. The people here in St. Thomas are different than what we're used to here in California, thats for sure! I proudly recommend Hidden Cove to any couple. Hull Bay is a fantastic place, and most weekdays you get the beach to yourself for at least a few hours

My wife and I spent a week at Hidden Cove for our honeymoon! We enjoyed having breakfast each morning on the porch. The house is a little of the way. My wife and I really enjoyed the sounds of the waves crashing below the house.

I have always been ready to return to reality after 7 ngts away - not this time...perhaps it was because my husband and I NEEDED a trip alone, but I think it was because of the place:the view, the people (Carol and Joe were very kind and informative hosts, they've thought of everything: from the decor, to the naughty shower, to the wonderful smelling soap, fully equipped kitchen, beach bags, umbrella, beach towels, cooler, explicit directions, restaurant info, etc; to the sound of the waves right below, and I mean right below, lulling you to sleep each night(we have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and this is the closest to the water we have been fortunate enough to stay). Don't forget the beautiful, warm, clear Caribbean waters to snorkel in, the pelicans diving for fish right off your deck, and the peace and quiet of the location. Hotels could never hold a candle to this slice of heaven, what a perfect paradise for a couple...I cannot wait to return! Keely and Dale

We just got back from a 2 week stay at Hidden Cove and loved it! Carol & Joe are gracious hosts. We loved the property the minute we saw it. The views from the balcony and master bedroom are phenomenal. The apartment is so adorable and tastefully decorated -- I wish I could move in! My husband and I enjoyed snorkeling from the apartment to Hull Bay. All the recommendations Carol & Joe made were excellent -- loved the Bobby Rod Roll :) ! We will definitely recommend Hidden Cove to our family and friends. We look forward to our return stay. Thank you so much Carol & Joe for your hospitality, friendliness, and making our stay most enjoyable. Regards, Ann & Dennis New York, New York

Wow, what a great place! We just spent 8 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. The view is wonderful, the accomodations are nice, and they have everything you could ask for, even beach chairs and snorkel gear. Carol and Joe are gracious hosts and we found ourselves not wanting to leave long enough to go sightseeing. This was our first "non resort" tropical vacation and it was all that we hoped for! No hustle and bustle, just quiet relaxation. And it's a short drive to Red Hook or Charlotte Amalie if you do want some hustle 'n bustle. While you're there check out the Hull Bay Hideaway, the beach bar/grill just around the corner, it's not touristy at all, very affordable and we enjoyed visiting with the local folks. We give Hidden Cove a big thumbs up! Jim & Donna Calera, Alabama

We just got back from a 5 day stay at Hidden Cove and it was by far the nciest place we have ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived we felt as though we were at our own home. Carol and Joe were wonderful host. The snorkeling and the view right off the apartment was amazing. All of the recommendations Carol made were excellent from restraunts to beaches. We will definately be returning to Hidden Cove for a much longer stay next time. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us. Jon and Wendy

Hidden Cove was by far the nicest VRBO we have stayed at. The unit is tastefully decorated and more than adequately furnished. From the fully equipped kitchen to the tiled bath with a shower large enough for two ; ) , to the handsome master suite with it's comfortable bed, Hidden Cove is nice enough for a gourmand to spend a lifetime there. We sure wish we could. However, physical attributes are inadequate to describe this place. The view from the decks are perfect during the day and mesmerizing in the evening. We hope to never forget Captain Joe washing the walks every morning with a smile an a kind word. It is hard to imagine more thoughtful and caring hosts. From the time Carol met us at the airport we felt we were friends. Thank you Carol and Joe, our stay at your place was our dream vacation. Sincerely, Tom and Sherri Koppelkam
