  We just finished staying 16 days at Sue and Del's beautiful home. The 2 Casa's that we rented were everything we could have wanted. It was a perfect home away from home. Both Sue and Del were fabulous hosts not only were they able to recommend great places to eat and a wide variety of things to do in and around the area, they were genuinely nice people. The pool was a favourite of our kids and our hosts kept it sparkling all the time. Their hacienda was kept immaculate! We are sure anyone who goes and stays with Sue and Del will never regret it! Thanks for everything Sue and Del!

  We stayed at Hacienda Del Mar in February 2012. What a delight. Everything advertised was exactly what we got. The owners were available - on site- 24/7 to help us with any issue we needed. This is a very unique property. It is walled and very private yet it is close to everything the dual communities have to offer. We did not have a car and it was NOT a problem. We found we were between 1/2 mile and 1 mile from ANYTHING we wanted to do and if we didn't want to walk, there were bikes on the property as well as plenty of very affordable taxis. This is an exceptional deal for anyone wanting to enjoy the more traditional elements of Mexican villages. While there is every amenity one would want, it is far enough away from the "commercial" world of Puerto Vallarta to feel like one has escaped the rat race! The property is also a good distance from the "crowded" areas of beach at the other end of town which allows for you to have the northern end of the beach almost to yourself. Most days we were the only people at the north end of the beach. The casita amenities are great. Everything is in working order (and stays that way). The housekeepers are kind and helpful. It is a special opportunity if you can rent this property because most times it is rented repeatedly by previous guests which makes it difficult to get a spot. If it is open, we say "go for it"! The guests that generally stay in the adjacent casita have been coming there for years and are lovely, interesting people. Suffice to say, this was a very very special vacation for us and we look forward to returning in future years. M & S White Salmon, WA

  What a special place. We keep returning for 3 years now. The Hacienda Del Mar is fantastic, the grounds are enjoyable and the nearby river provides wonderful tropical bird viewing. The location is great,l because you may walk to a small town or venture to a busier little town. The ocean is calm and perfect for floating. There are bikes available for a ride on cobble stoned streets. People still wave and say "Good Evening. " Del and Sue are great hosts and they even invited us to their Christmas dinner celebration. When it is storming in northern California....Hacienda Mar is the place to go.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

  We keep coming back to Hacienda del Mar. It’s beautifully situated between the hustle and bustle of the commercial town of La Penita, and the seaside resort of Guayabitos. Located in a delightful residential area it’s only a short walk to the beach, restaurants and shopping. The casitas, grounds and the pool provide a pleasant and quiet refuge when privacy is required.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car.

  Comment Text: We spent two weeks at Hacienda Del Mar in 2008 and are headed back this spring for another two weeks. Del and Sue are fabulous hosts who make you feel at home while not imposing on your vacation time. They have a wealth of information to share about the region including nice restaurants, small towns to visit and beaches that are a must to see. The pool is very relaxing and because there are only two units you never deal with crowds. Location allows easy walking access the beach or local towns. It's a fabulous place for anyone who wants some relaxation.

  We have just returned from another wonderful 2 weeks at Hacienda del Mar, having found this place 3 years ago we have made it an annual must vacation. Del & Sue are great hosts,the units & grounds are beautiful and well kept. This is your own private resort. Location is great, nestled between the 2 little towns. We'll be back!

  We just returned from a glorious two weeks at Hacienda Del Mar. Not only was the accomadations first rate but, the hosts were the best, never intrusive, but always eager to help out. Great people,great place!

  Del and sue's home is absolutly beautiful. The Bungaloes are as well. It was a restful vacation, beautiful and relaxing. I appriciate everything they did for us, they are wonderful hosts. Can't wait to go back again!

  We had the pleasure of staying in a bungalow with our two small boys at Hacienda del Mar. We were given a tour through Guaybitos & La Penita to familiarize us with the surroundings. It is truly beautiful, everything is very well maintained, the grounds are lust and the pool is fabulous. The hosts went out of their way to accomodate us. We definitely will return & highly recommend Hacienda del Mar to all.

  What a beautiful, beautiful setting for a great vacation! Staying at your wonderful hacienda made it so easy to fall into Mexican time and space that I almost felt like a native by the time I left. Everything was perfect and just what I needed. Many thanks for your generous hospitality. I hope to come again!
